I may be wrong but apparently Nintendo wanted Hideki Naganuma to make music for Splatoon at one point in development. Makes me wonder what that game would sound like if he went through with it.

    • @Plexi.T

No, the fans wanted him to make music for Splatoon, especially because the shop music was inspired by Humming the Bassline and Hideki posted on Twitter once, that he actually tried to work for Nintendo after he left Sega, but they said they sadly don't have a place for him and it didn't happen

So I did want to add something at 44:18 he didn't necessarily get the sample from that speech directly. He got it from a sample CD named "Skip To My Loops" by Norman Cook (Aka Fatboy Slim).
In fact a ton of samples used in the JSR games and Sonic Rush were from numerous sample CDs. He mentioned in a twitter post that people at Sega as well as his friends in the industry would give him sample cds they'd find and he would use them in his music.
A few notable examples of his perusing of sample cds:
-The famous Tony Hancock "Would you stop playing with that radio of yours? I'm trying to get to sleep!" is from the Zero-G Datafile 2
-"He's a sweet soul brother..." is from Top Secret Beats 3 by Trey Maxx
-"I felt like a bulldozer, trying to catch a butterfly" from Fly Like a Butterfly is from The X-Static Goldmine: Disc 2|
-The dealer calling out craps in Funky Dealer is from Premiere Edition 14 by The Hollywood Edge
-The iconic intro guitar from Concept of Love is from Methods of Mayhem by Sony
There's a post on tumblr that lists all the samples used in JSR, JSRF and Ollie King. It goes into a lot of details and I recommend looking into it if you wanna see just how creative he gets.

Hihi! Currently giving the video a watch and there’s a lot of good information here! Just wanted to point out some things about the Sonic Rush section. The CD album has original Album only arranges of a handful of songs in the game, unrestricted by the DS’s limitations. The version of Vela-Nova playing during that section is the Album version.
The track Bomber Barbara is pronounced like the name Barbara, at least I believe.
Lastly, the Blaze tracks in the game, while based off of Hideki’s original compositions, are in fact remix arranges by assistant Sound Director Teruhiko Nakagawa, which is a big reason why they sound so different.

Hideki is my favourite music composer of all time and i STILL find new games he made music on. Even in this video was something i didn't know. And, actually, something i do know but wasn't mentioned.
The track VENDOR POP also is in Kurohyou 2 (btw "kurohyou ruy ga" is far from the full name, you butchered the OG japanese name of the series - Ryu Ga Gotoku), used in multiplayer matches. I have seen info that it was written for Super Monkey Ball 3D initially. Also the fact that Monkey Ball 3D has a track SOLIDNESS, that was written for... Kurohyou! And it shows, SOLIDNESS with a yakuza game a lot more than silly monkey game.
My guess is that SEGA just kinda had VENDOR POP lying around and shoved it in y5 and kurohyou just to have something. This explains why it's not on Y5 official OST. Looks like this was the reason Hideki Left SEGA.

5:41 My friend, you might wanna strengthen your Black music research it was quite common for folks to be listening to black music during that time, also, these artists were Black Americans, so having an African influence would imply that the influence comes from those of the continent of Africa i.e. Sudan or Nigeria which is a major difference. Funkadelic was a psychedelic funk band, not a genre and neither Stevie Wonder or Prince were Hip-Hop artists. Prince especially since he had a turbulent relationship with Hip-Hop…especially in the 70s, he was more adjacent to a funk/ pop-rock artist during this time
A little nuance for R&B, while it technically stemmed from Blues, by the time Hideki was a teen, it was a genre that had gone through several changes expanding into something else entirely. I know these are nitpicks, but for an artist that was heavily inspired by black artists, these are huge points for those watching this who are not as familiar with these genres

Vendor Pop really reminds me of one of Deavid Soul's track which I think was used in some of the first Jet Grind Radio but not sure if it really was there or not ua-cam.com/video/bDCjzq4mBzI/v-deo.html
Something about that sort of like retro carnival type sound with the funkiness too which they both have

Oh my gosh, that sounds exactly like Vendor Pop in its percussion and swinging beat. I definitely see the connection.

all songs can can be found in the pastebin of the description in the video. Unless you mean the actual performer itself. You can find that video on UA-cam by looking up "Electone performance".
