In one word, Beautiful!!! The lines are perfect. It kinda has a look that screams "I can transform, wanna see?" Really awesome!
I love the design of this ship. Very aggressive, it's a warship. It has a very strong Andorian aesthetic.
Its a beautiful thoughtful design which could helm it's own show. appreciate the unusual nacelle design. accurate to federation but sings it's own song. Ace effort.
I looked at it and the 1st thing it screamed at me was : "It looks like it was designed and built in an Andorian ship yard"
My second thought was it looked like a technology demonstrator of a means to try to retrofit a Slipstream drive on a Soverign Class and they needed a similar shape only smaller to try to work the kinks out.
But if it was slipstream capable it would perhaps need a bigger computer core.
This really does feel like some kind of evolved version of the Intrepid-Class. Not sure what I think about the front of the nacelles, but the saucer looks incredible.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this design whatsoever. It's pretty epic!
With the name "Enigma" I would think it is a spy/stealth/recon cruiser. Makes sense for having a smaller crew, secondary hull stripped to make a smaller profile. Couple torpedoes in the back? Makes sense to keep your big guns trained behind with all six impulse drives firing if you are a ship that'll run and fight only when your cover is blown. Even the muting of certain glow elements and the thin side profile both speak towards subtlety.
at 14:26 with the saucer seperation, what I could see is a interchangeable drive section with flexible mission saucers. WIth primary weapons, shields, etc in the body, the head unit can be configured for war, science, exploration, cargo, etc as needed.
This is a really cool concept plus I know saquist is a person of detail and knows his stuff. The full episode will be 'epic' ;)
"That Miranda is from the Dominion War? Why isn't it on fire then?"
Hahaha classic
"Why isn't it on fire?" Love that line. 😀
I like the design. It has a kind of Orion look to it, like Starfleet picked up a few Orion ship designers and ended up with a best of both worlds ship class.
I like this ship, I think its like a defiant, in that its a single purpose, highly refined for the task at hand type ship. Cant waitt to see see the next one!
Exactly, its like perhaps Star Feelt have only built a couple. OR perhaps its a Section 31 ship!!!!!
Well back when there was a rumored Sovereign design coming out every week - it was clear the Voyager was the dominant influence. So a Sovereign crossed with an Inteprid is just a double dose of Voyager.
Super nice.... Still the exposed bridge of course.. first target of choice
Lawrence Haguewood. Why? Will the rest of the crew give up? I say there are far more significant targets to go after.
DrewLSsix Take out command and control center, if not first, then asap to disrupt coordinated ship operations.
Lawrence Haguewood. Then why not just take out the warp core? Taking out the computer core would make the bridge crew useless.
The fact is if you have the means to simply destroy any one portion of a federation ship you are powerful enough to destroy it at your leasure.
Once shields are dealt with a torpedo placed in any number of critical areas can effectively destroy the ship and burying the bridge or anything else in the center of the ship is pointless because its exactly as vulnerable.
On the original constitution class the center of the saucer is only a few decks away from any point on the top or bottom surface so whatever you have that can punch through the outer hull wont care about the inner deck structure, and even if it were a problem main engineering is on deck 6 on the back part of the saucer exactly as vulnerable and far more critical. And in the refit its in the top of the secondary hull again exactly as vulnerable.
So unless you are willing to invest in layers of armor no place within your hull will be less vulnerable than any other, and if you were investing in armor why not double it up on the outside and lend that protection to everything else under it?
DrewLSsix The computer/Warp cores are more protected, buried several decks down. The bridge much more exposed on the hull surface. Heavily shielded to be sure.
Lawrence Haguewood. Did you even read my post? The warp core in almost all ships is exposed at some point on the ship.
In the refit it extends from the top of the neck all the way to the bottom of the secondary hull and main engineering is at the top of the secondary hull. So the core is a single hull layer from enemy fore along more than half its legnth and also at the very bottom.
Secondly as I said we know that once shields are gone the hull is minimally protective of the interior of the ship and the interior decks and bulkheads are like tissue paper.
So even if the bridge were several decks below its normal position once the enemy takes out or bypasses your shields its a matter of a single shot to breach the hull and if that shot doesnt penetrate several decks any followup shot surely will.
The only ships that make sense when it comes to burrying important things for safety are the large ships like the Galaxy class, where its a fractional increase in mass or cost to armor specific small areas. But since the war ships tend to be small that doesnt work for them.
If you are going to burry the bridge under several decks with an aditional layer of armor to make it worthwhile wouldnt it be better to simply double armor the bridge wherever it happens to be?
Remember, even during a war these ships are almost never fighting and they still need to be maintained and serviced like any other ship.
I like it. Its something i could see fitting in next to a sovereign class
Srtangly i find this ship quite beautiful design especialy the warp nacelles
Very nice. You can really tell the difference between something thoughtfully crafted by a fan slapped together by a professional.
There's a clear level of care in this that Discovery lacks.
I think that could be a slipstream ship that deflector reminds me of the dauntless, i really like this design i really look forward to hearing it's intended purpose
That's an epic looking ship. So much nicer than the Discovery. Really like the lack of windows on the primary hull. Who knows - maybe in the 25th Century the hull is transparent from the inside.
David Razzell
Why does a spaceship need windows, anyways?
Put a flatscreen on the wall, and you can display the starscape outside, and then use it for entertainment, or as a huge monitor for displaying information.
Windows are quickly becoming obselete in today's world, let alone the 24th century.
David Razzell why the discovery comparison? There's no need really is there it's only going to start a load of hate....
less maintenace. All those webcams needs to be placed on the outer hull, the screens can be faulty etc etc. a window made out of flear aluminium is a lot more effective
robinvan1983
Lol, only one camera per side is necessary, and I've had a flatscreen LCD tv for years, it's never let me down
KISS bascially. Also in a combat situation views outside would be essential. (think more planes than ships) cameras and screens have the disadvantage that they could be disabled by messing with the electronics. In theory a strong enough window material would enable people to view the outside without compromising the armour.
The ship looks great
Without the saucer it looks kind of like an Andorian ship.
Avoozl it's that pale blue nacelle treatment
I'm speaking more of the actual shape despite the longer nacelles since Andorian ships have shorter nacelles.
just saw your reply very much agree looks like andorian descended fedship
Agreed, very much like Shran's Kumari from ENT
Wonderful design!
while tos is always my fav, i always thought the neck to the saucer section and the support pylons were week points. i like this
The intakes on the bottom of the nacelles could be some kind of ducted bussards, perhaps to eliminate the weak spot while still being able to scoop fuel.
The gold color of the phaser strips might mean that they are made of an unpainted tritanium alloy of some kind, kind of like the dish and rings on the TOS Constitution deflectors were.
A crazy observation, but the glowing red parts on the backside of the nacelles could be more impulse engines, perhaps meant to give the secondary hull better impulse maneuvering capability when the "saucer" is detached and a higher acceleration when it is attached.
That boxy extrusion from the deflector could be a TOS-like dish (though oval) with an energy-transparent cover over it like some of today's radars have when not covered by a full dome. That would mean that the green Fresnel stuff could correspond to the bronze colored rings behind the TOS dish. Also those green things on the underside of the primary hull could be beam shapers or something for better long range scans or pushing the deflector beam further out for increased efficiency and power.
I'm loving this new ship design. Can't wait for next week to find out more about the U.S.S. Epic...
Looks like a sea creature. That bottom Module reminds me of an Oberth class Sensor Pallet.
The separation line and the fact you have a warp core and deflector on one side and the main stuff on the other shows the designer was considering what was REALLY needed for a self rescue. A test bed ship to test out a multi-geometric warp bubble? Torpedo cruiser, it needs impulse drives for maximum maneuverability because you have to point the ship?
This is the iPhone of ships. So sleek.
Great ship with hint of mass effect..:)
i do have to say im liking this ship, would love to fly it in STO one day
If I was a betting man I would say to the rear red area on the cells are probably impulse engines for the secondary separation section
If I put my random speculation hat on - I might suggest the bar shaped parts are possibly wave guides to prevent the lower hull being damaged by the deflector beams since the ship lacks a neck.
Also possibly if the whole egg shaped middle portion comes out as an auxiliary landing craft then those might be part of it's engines.
But I agree Stuart's suggestion of them being lower pointing sensors is a pretty good one too. - but they could also serve a dozen other functions like being active stabilisers when using a borrowed transwarp corridor to keep the ship safe and prevent some of the issues the D had when using such.
The unusual deflector also looks like one that can be reconfigured in software to emit multiple beam types. Rather than it taking 2 hours with a a spanner like on TNG.
I'd say the only improvements I'd personally like is lighting the Nacelle caps.
making the 2ndary hull auxiliary impulse engines a bit more obvious.
I'd also perhaps prefer the Torpedo turret on the top not the bottom and have the base totally flat.
Other than that I like it - it reminds me of the Intrepid variant with a round or oval saucer. It looks like a good mid-range ship that fits in to the same sort of niche as the Akira class or the Ambassador (only with less cargo carry ability).
But it does cross my mind that it could carry a cargo pod instead of a Torpedo pod..
I like it.
I'm in love with this ship. I figure she's a 25th century gal with quantum slipstream and advance phaser arays nacelles deflector
Look at Enterprise j is like one massive primary hull little secondary hull. But I give this ship a thousand thumbs up and a rating of 20/10
a really fine looking ship
The red lights on the back are turn signal indicators.
So at the 21 minute mark you guys commented on the small amount of escape pods imply a small crew.... what if the escape pod we see on the surface are in fact the hatches on escape pod launchers with pods available on every deck that then slide into a turbolift type tube that terminate at one of those hatches ? That would solve the unanswered problem of how do we rescue crew from the inner decks of a vessel in an emergency
Strips on bottom could be Deflector Focusing Array.
Discovery should be after the Enterprise E and this should have been the ship. Amazing.
Great vid!
I think this ship would be perfect for Star Trek Online.
Same here.
I suspect the strips on the underside _are_ phaser banks, they are green only because they are reflecting glow from main deflector.
When I saw the dorsal, I thought "It doesn't have enough phaser arrays"!
Ohhh. This looks kewl!
It shows that if you want to stream line trek for the new genaration you should go further in the future in Star Trek history itself.
I was thinking it could be the Federations attempt to return to the delta quadrant with a science ship that can handle itself in combat better than the intrepid could, and is larger with more redundancy and crew space for longer voyages
It screams Quantum slipstream to me
Stunning design, i'm in love.
This ship should be on Star Trek online as bonus DS9 Lockbox
In terms of mission profile I would think it would be a strike craft. Something like the role of a B1B Bomber would have, warp or slip stream in empty out your torpedo tubes and get out!
Commander Cliff Allister McLane of the cruiser Orion would feel at home in the saucer of this ship.
Hmmm, has an Andorian design to it. Well I think.
Based on the ship design. What it looks like to me. Warp nacells of a nova class, saucer section, top of enterprise e, bottom of discovery. The same with the stardrive section. My opinion though.
My favorite to date is the Theurgy, but I think my favorite bridge is the Enterprise F bridge.
A very good design of a starship :) But what about taking a little look of a very very ancient old ship.... the: Destiny? (SGU SU)
Love the design of the ship she looks amazing
Could be starfleet attempt at slipstream tech
Defiantly get the defiant feel of a warship
I want a post Nemesis show with that thing in it! For that i have Netflix don't i?
Wondering about the red glow elements in the back of the nacelles? Go back and look at the schematic again. They are impulse engines (yellow on the schematic), 2 of the cited 6, _in the back of the nacelles_ ! Why? So that each half of the ship has impulse capability. Neat idea, but I'm not sure how practical they are, is that zone (the nacelles) even inhabitable?
lack of windows would indicate military use... maximizing hull integrity and all :)
I don't like the angularity of the struts/wings. If they were rounded to match the rest, this would be an extraordinary design.
The cyan makes me wonder if this ship uses normal warp, or some sort of other ftl.
That bottom attachment, a torpedo launcher, you say, it ruins the overall look of the ship. I would get rid of it completely or put in on the top instead.
Finally they took the the red bisards in the front like the ship advice that they don't need a very visible ftl engine helper .
thomas Barrera wot?
Want this ship in STO!!👍👍👍👍👍
The nacelles swing down to make a lower profile in a fight? and the still see each other above that lower hull that has the torpedo launchers?
Am I the only one looking at this and thinking "JJ Voyager"?
I don't think JJ if I don't have to.
are they impulse engines in the back of the nacelles?
hey guy's great video as always......Quick question is there a software that lets you build your own ship for all of Trekdom .
Nice looking ship but if it is a post voyager, why are engines so big.
This is a great frame a E.W.F cruiser or it could be a excellent replacement for the excellisor
That is EXACTLY what the Enigma Class was designed to be. A replacement for the Excelsior Class.
Great statship
The ship looks great, but where is it supposed to be used? In a tv-show, game, movie? Or is this just fan art?
The pylons make it look like a D6.
Wow he's not comparing it to the Akash!!!!
*D@mn good looking ship design! Kudos to the idea maker & designer...*
Its just too bad that all the extremely good & talented designers don't work for the studio's that keep dishing out sub-par designs for their filming projects (they need to hire all these good designers, and finally go with a future post Nemesis (STO Era) storyline to continue on with the franchise line. "much of the STO Era lore and storylines could make a very exceptional new series to expand the franchise with..." if only the dumb@ssed studio heads would stop with these stupid prequal & reboot attempts... (~_~)' They need to look into the future and not in the past, if they're ever going to truly have a chance to make the Trek franchise great again...
Looks like it of Andorian design.
Is there a way to get the 3D model?
yes.
Is it still possible to obtain a copy of the 3D model for this ship? I run a Star Trek based RPG and one of my long-time members pointed me here as a possible replacement for the current ship we use (Prometheus class) and I agree with him, this ship is gorgeous!
for me I like smaller nacelles like voyager. Modern ships have nacelles that a to long for me.
Is there any reason, in Star Trek, why a larger ship would necessarily need a larger crew? It's not like you need physical bodies to man more stations or anything? If you had 100 or so people, what posts/stations couldn't you cover?
biostemm. I imagine just like a modern naval military ship you dont need many people until you do. Having multuple people who can take over for dead wounded crew, damage control, just being on post should centralized control break down.
DrewLSsix, I agree to some extent, but beyond, say, crew for 4 continuous shifts, and 1 or 2 backups for each of them, that still doesn't come to that many people. Sure, you need some security personnel, too, but even then, we're only talking about a dozen or so. I suppose it's hard to judge, since we're only ever presented with a narrow slice of the goings-on of a Starfleet vessel...
biostemm. Seriously, check out an actual ship. The Missouri even refitted and losing hundreds of crewmen had over 4 times the crew of the original enterprise even though it was smaller in every way.
In original form it held a similar compliment to the massive in comparison D.
Carriers routinely carry double the compliment of the D.
Speaking of the D, the producers originally wanted a much larger crew but couldnt afford enough extras to make it believable. So we got a ship so large that its entire crew could get an entire suite to them selves.
Ni, if anything there are far to few crew on federation ships. Especially accounting for all the science thats supposed to be happening.
biostemm I wouldn't say that a bigger more modern ship NEEDS a bigger crew but the flip side to that is why do you need a bigger ship if a more modern ship doesn't need as many crew to Man it. The compromise in trek as as you progress from ENT to TOS to TMP to TNG to VOY and beyond is while ships don't need as many operations crew to run the ship , the ships themselves can then support mission specific crews etc.
Well, I assumed that the ships got larger due to more powerful powerplants, more advanced weapons and sensors, etc. Having more special-purpose crew members does make sense, but only for vessels that have a science-focus. This consideration is undone to a certain extent, however, as it seems like the core command crew take care of everything - we rarely see entire teams doing all the side stuff, so it's difficult to judge...
How was voyager able to get away with such relatively small nacelles? They’re so tiny
Differently warship. How do I get in touch with you guys?
Where is the full episode?
I think it should be Omega particle response starship or a section 31 stealth ship
I don’t know, this looks like something you’d see in Star Wars.
I've given this video a like a few times now but each time the page refreshes, it takes my vote away.
Im still not warming up to the pointy saucer design for "new" ships.
Nice design, but I can't stop seeing it as a duck...
This thing looks to me like it was designed by a Romulan defector.
I almost exactly right
Wow how many ships has this show analyzed, 4-500? Seems like it is getting harder for you guys to find more designs, what happens when you run out of ships? Do some flashbacks about ships you used to despise and now like or tolerate, JJprise? Oh wait when Disruptory finally gets released (6 months?) there will be all kinds of exotic ships to go over, maybe the JJverse will actually look good after this new show?
Maybe they are tractor beam arrays.
I like it !!
" Very sexy futuristic Intrepid class configuration .... would love to see a mash up with Prometheous look .... " 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Is the separated neck a little phallic?
Yes, unfortunately...(sigh)
Sorry. It is a nice ship.
I dare you to do an episode on the Satellite of Love.
Akyazi class, McCook model is great
I have ships i designed in highschool 1995 i would love too see them come too life like this would love too know how too render them sending out a distress call for help on helping me render some of my ships or showing me how.. help
Go to scifi meshes forum and make a request for work in the appropriate section
10:42 Well, the Enterprise-D also has a secondary deflector dish if you check out the TNG Technical Manual so I imagine this to be a standard feature in ships which saucer separate by the 24th century.
13:37 It looks more like a Romulan design to me. Star Wars ships don’t really put much emphasis on hyperdrive as Star Trek ships do on warp with nacelles, rings and such.
15:00 Do I spot a delta? This angle reminds me of the new USS Discovery.
18:05 Which does make some amount of sense. By that logic you could justify having bigger nacelles on bigger ships for longer mission profiles even as warp coils gets smaller as the Intrepid-class and Defiant-class suggest.
20:21 Those craft are capable of mach 20 within an atmosphere, but sets are excruciatingly expensive to build. I’d love to see an adventure game use one of them at some point.
Romulan is right. Enigma is a joint project.
I was 90 percent rieght in size of enigma class star ship .
24-25 century andorian ship design
Speaking of the E, when do you plan on releasing that Patrick Stewart interview?
At first glance, I thought the title said Enema class. lol! Sorry.
Have some flax and bran, sir. :D
ha ha ha!
