    Being a paratrooper was very dangerous. My uncle was a paratrooper. He was killed on D-Day parachuting into Europe with Allied Forces.

    The last thoughts of a dying soldier.
    In memory of our loved ones. "My mom, my dearest beloved, today, nor all our tomorrows... I will not come home, but my love will meet your face when the sun shines, when the rain drops falls to meet your tears and the breeze will blows gently upon your back...my love will always be with yours...'

Who all wanted the axis powers to control the free world. It does my heart good to know of all Americans and her allies who gave their lives for freedom! Since ww1, ww2, Korea, Vietnam, desert storm, operation Iraqi freedom, Afghanistan and the others I missed. Thank you all for your service!!!

      Don’t forget the Vichy French, an Axis “Puppet State.” They were present in the Invasion of French North Africa and did put up resistance to the Americans there, including my great grandfather. was a paratrooper in WWII. He was with the 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment in North Africa and later the 456th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment assigned to the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the 82nd Airborne in Sicily. He was then sent back to England to prepare for Operation Overlord when he was transferred to the 101st Airborne and jumped into Normandy, and later jumped into Holland. He also participated in the Battle of the Bulge and Western Germany. He had made 4 combat jumps during the war. He survived and passed away in 2006.

      @dilloncrowe1018
      I’ve seen that video, and many others he has on his channel. You’re correct about the 11th. They were the only Airborne division in the pacific, but not the only airborne outfit. The 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment was also there. My Great Grandfather started his time in the Army with the 2nd Battalion, 503rd PIR. In 1942, they sailed for England to prepare for Operation Torch in French North Africa. The day before he and his unit jumped into Africa, the 2/503 was redesignated as the 2nd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He made one of the 3 US Airborne jumps in North Africa at which I assume was the Tafaraoui Airfield in Algeria south of Oran. He would engage German forces at the Faïd Pass, the first US unit to engage the German Army in WWII. After North Africa, he was transferred either to Battery C or D of the 456th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion which was assigned to the 505th PIR of the 82nd Airborne throughout the war. With the 456/505/82, he jumped into Sicily and fought at Biazza Ridge. After Sicily, he and his battery returned to England, either C or D because the HQ Battery, A and B batteries had been detached from the 82nd and supported the 1st Special Service Force in Italy and Southern France, later forming the 463rd PFAB. While training in England, he was transferred to the 101st Airborne and jumped into Normandy and Holland, and later the Battle of the Bulge and Western Germany/Central Europe. He survived and passed away in 2006. Thank you for reading if you made it this far.

    My grandfather was a German general who notably oversaw the Atlantic Wall. I was in Normandy in June 2015, 2019 and 2024 as well as in Bastogne (Belgium) in December 2019 for the celebrations of these battles. I am always moved to see the veterans of the allied countries. I think this war could have ended sooner if intelligent German officers had shown more courage

    80 years ago, General Eisenhower directed the greatest invasion force in history. Shortly before D-Day, he came to inspect the American troops in training in Exmoor, England.
    One day, he told his aides to wait for him while he climbed alone to the summit of a hill. There, aware of his helplessness, the man who would become President of the United Sates turned to the Lord is prayer.
    Whatever battles we face, prayer to God is our greatest weapon.

    Those veterans also has great faith, American last Godly generation, endured so many difficulties. Not like now Western soldiers strong bodies, well equipped, nutritious, well training but mentally spiritually broken, they forgot God.
    Very rarely WW2 veterans have PTSD, they fight more dangerous brutal and yet survive. So sad so many soldiers not even go to war and yet have ptsd.
