I just noticed something. Your editing style, audio choices, jump cut style, and general video aesthetic reminds me a lot of how the game Control did its aesthetic. Very crisp, clean, but with a surreal edge to it. It's awesome.

Two things: 1) I honestly think that you provide the best head-gear reviews on UA-cam. Combination of personality, content quality, content structure and of course presentation. Your videos are always interesting, enjoyable and informative and never outstay their welcome. Hats off to you! 2) It's been a while since I've seen you so excited about an IEM as this! For those of us who take our gear seriously and actively listen to the way audio is being presented, it is a joy to come across a product which just overtakes the analysis, does so much well and brings you back to pure enjoyment of the music. I would LOVE to see headphone companies categorize their lineup by sound signature classes. Finding a clear upgrade path in a brand and in the market as a whole is very challenging. This would make comparisons more objective as well because you'd be able to compare directly on a brand/models capability to represent a specific sound signature rather than vaguely comparing based on price to performance despite potentially drastic tuning styles between brands/models
If they did that, people would only buy the bottom model. In cars, if I spend 20k I get a civic with a cvt transmission. If I spend a million I get a 1800 horsepower, hydraulically, robotically assisted, carbon fiber, monocoque monster. The returns are real. If I spend 200 on speakers, and then listen to the highest end, dozens of thousands of dollars speaker, depending on the environment and my taste, it might actually be dissapointing.
I have them for about weeks, partly thanks to this video. What a beautiful sound! Bold, detailed, balanced, open, magic. Cheers for your recommendations!
Sennheiser recently sold off their consumer headphone business to another company. I’m expecting to see changes and a transition period as the new owners shape a new direction for the product area.
But they sold it to Sonova, they own Phonak, who used to create the Audeo PFE232 in ears a few years back that were discontinued but still today sold for more than their retail price on eBay because they were amazing but maybe came out at the wrong time. I think Sennheiser headphones are in good hands. I am still also sad.
@@koolpep PFE112 were great at the time and PFE232 were only ok for the price. They were dissapointing for me because I wanted the same sound signature as PFE112 but better and PFE232 were very different.

well I took the plunge and purchased a pair and WOW! I connect them to my smartphone via the THX Onyx portable DAC headphone amplifier. these are my first "serious" headphones and they are sublime. All my FLAC and Hi-Res audio files sound much wider and expansive. I hear so much more as all the vocals and instruments are spaced out letting me hear all the detail. In some cases its like hearing stuff as if it has been rerecorded. everything from Joni Mitchell to Hurts sounds so much better.
In terms of bass response on Sennheiser headphones, their (seemingly) lesser known HD8 DJ headphones are monumentally impressive. It has bass like a high-wattage car audio system, but without completely overwhelming the sound. It's fantastic.
As a headphone Mproducer I wish they would just make 3 versions for low,mid,high frequency styles then do natural vs warm versions then you have everything covered.
Hey Josh I think it might be interesting for you to try out some of the recent releases of semi open back IEM like FIIO FD5 or the shozy blackhole and compare their Soundstage with this one.
Sit The Sennheiser earphones lightly outside your ears, with the large tips set on the outer second ear tip notch, they sound fantastically incredible! This way! If your quest is to get an extremely tight deep seal. (Don’t use the foam tips) You want to hear your surroundings! You lose highly detailed treble, and your music will sound as if you’re listening to it underground/under water/with a blanket on top of your music/muffled. Hope you consider this advice. Crystals clear, and very clean sounding drums cymbals is what you’ll gain.

Love my IE300, I increased the detail in mine by replacing the sponge in the tips with smaller versions...still got amazing bass but way more detailed and expansive sound. AZLA Xlastic tips also increase the detail of the IE300 and perfect the bass. Paired with Sony ZX500, it's a perfect pairing.

Sennheiser really needs to update their open and closed back flagships. The HD800/S was end of cycle at least 5 years ago and no longer represents value especially considering it's nearly impossible to get them on discount from official dealers.

Those are not well tuned at all. It’s easy to make something hyper detailed, you can do it yourself by buying a drivers and case, but pleasant tonality is a different story…

These appear to be incredible! Can you speak to the imaging performance of the IE900s vs. the IE300s? As a gamer, clarity is important but the position is my highest priority. I currently love my cheap Docooler QKZ VK4 IEMs, but the IE300s were what I was planning to upgrade to later on.

If I am to speak regarding Sennheiser's house sound, let alone any company; While I think consistency is vital if the house sound is beloved by fans and that the company is pretty good with handling it, I still think experimentation at a flagship budget and scope is as important. No doubt its quite risky, but on the other hand, if executed correctly, can allow for the customer base to grow and help them expect as well as accept experimentation for the sake of themselves as well as the expansion and diverse outlook of a company....
It's a low impedance high sensitivity headphone. Does it run good off of a phone/laptop or do you need dac amp for this? Also, how does it scale with good dac amp?
Of you like Zhu and want to test clean sub bass his track "Drowning" on Ringo's Desert is where its at. Would be interested in a comparison between the ie900 and the Legend X as well as its direct competitor the Campfire Audio Dorado 2020 for sound signature and execution.
I think diverse sound signatures ought to be clarified by evocative sub-branding. So if your “house sound” strives for audiophile and is labeled with hundreds (300, 900 ought to align with 800 in headphones). Then if a Momentum line sounds more v-shaped and a Precision line sounds like the 660 I can grasp that the parent brand has signaled their intentions to me as a consumer. But most audio manufacturers seem clueless about this.

How about a kilo-buck IEM shoot-out, comparing this to say Sony IER-M9, Campfire Andromeda 2020 and the like.
How would you compare these to the Shure SE 846?

It's a low impedance high sensitivity headphone. Does it run good off of a phone/laptop or do you need dac amp for this? Also, how does it scale with good dac amp?

I think diverse sound signatures ought to be clarified by evocative sub-branding. So if your “house sound” strives for audiophile and is labeled with hundreds (300, 900 ought to align with 800 in headphones). Then if a Momentum line sounds more v-shaped and a Precision line sounds like the 660 I can grasp that the parent brand has signaled their intentions to me as a consumer. But most audio manufacturers seem clueless about this.

yes it does bass differently than any iem
