Amazing !!!!!! What a great refreshing thing to see not the same old thing at all I wish I could’ve known about this and lived in New York at the time !! Much respect ✊
I have the greatest respect for Buddy as a musician, and the footage of the band at Buddy's Place II is outstanding. On the other hand, this video is proof positive that performers should rarely comment outside their area of expertise, because it far too easy to be viewed as a fool.
without a doubt the most important group of videos ever published on you tube. Perhaps those who are so quick to condemn Buddy for his opinions regarding anything can gain some understanding as to why he felt and the way he did about so many things. BUT you have to really listen, without thinking politcally and consider where this man is "coming from".
You are totally on point with what you said, I'm with you on that. Very important topics. Some of the most important videos ever published on youtube. Thank you Efrom Allen.
Buddy was great, but some of his opinions and observations have become extremely antiquated. He’s right about the 1965 New York City blackout and the lack of crime and disorder when it happened. But it was a totally different ball game when the next blackout happened in 1977. Looters ran wild and the cops in some neighborhoods were all but overrun. And now pot is legal and you can shoot up junk in public and the cops look the other way. Talk about progress. Little bit of Steve Marcus tenor solo at the end.
I made a deal with Buddy Rich not to put up more performance then I put up. he really liked the show and he sowed it to all his friends. We became friends and he had all the performers that played his club to appear on my show, such as Steve Allen and Lou Rawles which "I will be putting up soon
Buddy Rich was obviously a very frustrated person. I think he suffered mentally a lot of things that were just a waste of time. Someone should have told him Buddy....shut up and just play your drums.
Buddy was just the best.... love and miss him every day 😢

rfvee I completely agree. Buddy was an excellent drummer, but by his comments in this interview, Buddy was very liberal.
Efrom Allen. You are awesome! Thanks you so much for these videos.

I love buddy's straight talking style. And alot of what he said about the big brother approach of government is sadly still valid
Circa 1975/1976 given that Buddy says he is 58.
