McDonald’s forgot there place in society. People ate there because of the value, not because it was good. Their burgers look sad.
what about forced calif newsome and progressive caused inflation?
law that mandates a $16 per hour to $20 per hour increase.....that's a big jump.
rare for private company to give a $4 per hour raise.
that's government caused
The burgers I have seen look like they threw the meet, cheese and tossed the pickles from 20 feet away and then run over by an 18-wheeler. The burgers never look as good and put together as the commercials on TV.
The burgers are amazing
That's actually not true. Given the amount of sodium, fats, and sugars in their foods people were eating them b/c the brain's reward center was tricking them into thinking it was a high quality food source. Its like a push up bra, you think its all good but in reality not so much....

Quitting eating this crap is the best thing for America..

That is literally what people are doing right now and why fast food sales are down across the board.
Hint: Buy an air fryer! 😉
They are losing profit..so they already did that.

this is greed, not inflation, I am not coming back
The prices go up because the costof everything goes up.
@@GregLakatosChradm Yes, so many people blame the corporations and franchisee's. Up here in Canada Coca-Cola products rose 25% to restaurateurs who must naturally pass those costs to the consumers.

That's cute af, but McDonald's continues to be the most profitable food chain.

I agree. Too much salt, fat, cholesterol, chemicals, frozen patties, cheese product, sugars,. One can get a healthier meal elsewhere. Many people are too lazy to check out other restaurants in their home town for less expensive and healthier choices.
Not just rising prices, the quality is so drastically poorer.
At McDonalds I think the quality has actually gone up, so I don't think that applies to all of those places
@@Jake-cc7ie Kinda recall 20-30 years ago it tasting a lot better compared to the last 2 or so years.

The real cost of eating fast food isn’t the higher prices. It’s the cost of your health.
Mcdonalds back in the day was much better. Today its absolute junk. I make food at home.
LOL!!! How do you people manage to get everything backwards?
Always been junk
We make all our meals at home also, going out to eat is a once a month treat , we used to go out to eat 3-5 times a week, now we eat at home,
So sick of people blaming higher wages when the real issue just gets overlooked.
Exactly. These companies have been making record profits for the past few years, even during the pandemic. There's no way a bump in wages is putting them out; especially since they didn't increase wages alongside whatever price increases they've had for many years before the current wage bump. They're way ahead of whatever wage increases they're finally taking on. The companies just want to continue to make the kind of record profits they have been making for the past few years and are using wage increases as an excuse for raising costs instead of the real issue; their greed.
Way to undermine this report with a built-in McDonald's endorsement at the end! You guys are true champions of the working class.
Aren't they? 🤗
And the pro-corporate fear mongering of the $20 minimum wage

Yea that felt so weird to me. They did it the last time I saw a report about crazy fast food prices and they were tossing around McDonald’s hamburgers then too lol. That was about a month ago I think?
I didn’t realize it until after but at Panera 2 sandwiches and a soup cost $38!!!!! I’m done with them. NEVER GOING BACK.
New Ciabatta Cheesesteak $14.59
Panera has been an absolute joke for years too. Their food quality dipped and their prices go up, because as long as people still buy it, why not raise the price?
I wish more folks were outraged about our healthcare cost - like they are about their fast food fix cost 👀.
Everybody is outraged by our healthcare costs and have been for a long time. Welcome to the discussion latecomer.
Whataboutism doesn't work here as plenty of people are highly vocal on both subjects.
If they stopped going to McDonald's, prices would go down and they wouldn't need that healthcare as much. Win win
I think everyone is outraged but you can’t boycott a hospital. If you have breast cancer where are you going to go. In some cities like mine there is only one or two hospitals left
the american way is to lay home eating painkillers and pray that u dont get more sic..like any 3 world country in the world
They just don't seem to understand that people only went there because it was cheap.
99¢ double cheeseburgers made me form a habit. 99¢ Mcdoubles with one less slice of cheese kept me asking for more. Prices eventually went up and I quit eating there as often. Rarely went once Covid lockdowns came along. Takes a special deal to get me in to go there now..
Now America will eat less fast food. I’m hesitant to say healthier
Some will buy more unhealthy foods from the grocery stores.
American food products are so adulterated, that it's questionable if there really is a healthy option.
@@ramiroherrera-oe4fm It's all about choices. Fast food offers few healthy choices. Grocery stores have many healthy choices. It's all about choices. I see people every day who are 425 pounds or more in fast food places, shuttled around on electric scooters. How do you think they got to 425-plus pounds ??? Mostly by poor eating choices and sedentary lifestyle. They have to park in handicapped spaces and are limited in clothing choices because of their poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyle. They did that to themselves. Grocery stores offer many choices. It's up to each individual to make wise eating choices.
Doubt it, they'll just move to another cheap source of cheap crap food.
They’ll just get a coke, hot dog, and candy bar at the 7/11
If more people are cooking at home, I fail to see how this is bad thing?
McDonald’s is one of the most egregious price hikes I’ve ever seen. They used to be the quick pick as a cheap option, quality was less but you might get it bc it was cheap. Now, the price does not make sense with the quality.
Exactly. It’s like that one woman said in the story. If they’re going to eat out, they’ll go to a higher quality place where the prices are comparable. I don’t know where McDonald’s got the idea that they can charge as much for their plastic junk, as sit down restaurants do for real food.
Agreed - it is beyond absurd. Their hashbrowns for me cost $3.49 for one! Like - insane, I would never buy it.
I remember when McDonalds cheese burgers were 23 cents and somewhat flavorful. Although that was in the early 70's the quality has gone way, way down and the prices have gone way, way up. I haven't ordered a burger or meal at McDonalds in over 35 years as the quality has hit rock-bottom. I do get their coffee on a regular basis.
A couple years ago I started going to McD's regularly since their prices had stayed the same while every other restaurant around us was going higher. Then, almost overnight, McD's raised their prices by 15-20%. It was too much too soon, and when I saw my favorite menu items skyrocketing, it shocked me into a realization that I didn't even like this food very much and it made me feel like crap afterwards. So I stopped going right then.
@@lzestrara1518 Great point. It’s interesting how for many people (myself included), the sticker shock made us realize that we don’t even really like this food. We were only eating it because it was cheap and convenient.

Just today I really thought about McDonalds and was going to order a 2-big Mc's,large fries and 2 soft drinks. Total cost $28.45. Instead down the street, a Pizza shop that also prepares dinners for take out. I ordered Fresh chicken wings and medium pizza with fries and side order of gravy. Total cost $32.00. Enough for 3 people. Food was fresh and great taste.
For $6, could they at least center the hamburger patty on the bun instead of it hanging half-way out the side of the bun?
McDonald's days are over. They're overpriced, and their burgers are tiny and so thin you can see through them. At least at Sonic, I can get a burger twice the size for the same price. And even then, for that price, I can go to a regular restaurant and be waited on and get a huge portion.
At nearly every big restaurant chain, prices have gone up, quality has gone down. And I have no idea how anyone can justify the prices Coke and Pepsi are demanding now for what is basically 10 cents worth of sugar and chemicals in carbonated water. I'm done.

Keep prices reasonable and make a profit. Raise prices to the extreme and lose money. Geniuses. These folks should work for the government.
In my city, a woman owns 5 McDonald restaurants. They can't be losing too much money for one person to own 5 restaurants and live in a ginormous mansion. One can get a healthier and fresher meal at many of the local restaurants for a few dollars more or around the same cost of a Big Mac, fries, and milkshake or soft drink.
Last quarter alone, u can even look this up, McDonald's made a NET profit of almost 2 billion dollars and they say that sales have been growing for the past 13 quarters, so it's crazy...

You raised your prices a year ago and the year before that and you weren’t paying nowhere near $20 an hour either year so all those. lies the corporations keep telling price has been on the rise. They’re talking about McDonald’s raising prices, then throw it in our faces by throwing around food on TV😂 wow.
It’s about time consumers started to figure this out and shop an alternative. I’ve been doing this for years. If a business or product doesn’t meet expectations on quality or price, go somewhere else! Fast food is about convenience and that’s what you’re paying for. While traveling overseas, I was shocked that the BMac actually looked like the one advertised. If we accept less, we will get less.
good. I've just stopped eating at these places all together. I remember i could get an entire meal at McDonald's for like $7 or $8 tops. now it's like $13. I can literally get an entire bowl at Chipotle for $10 which is a higher portion. makes no sense.
Not just prices going up, but also large fries barely 1/2 full, drinks with inch air gaps at top - stingy. One's dollar doesn't get a break at McD's anymore. Not even a fiver barely a tenner!
When the dollar menu left, so did I.
Reduce the menu, save on costs.
I agree. Get back to the basics.
Most of the increase in prices is due to labor costs. Wages, healthcare, pensions, management, maintenance, and insurance. I'd like to see a McDonalds burger in my city that even remotely look like the burgers in commercials. The burgers I have seen at my McDonalds look like they tossed the meat, cheese, pickles, and buns from 30 feet and an 18-wheeler ran over it. At no time does the meat, cheese, bun, line up like in the commercials.
How much smaller can the menu be? They have gotten rid of many items. Can’t even get a salad anymore!
Prices have been raising before minimum wage....but min😂wage is why prices are raising??? How about lowering franchise fees instead of increasing prices 🤔
How about just lowering prices and making just a normal profit. Stop trying to please the shareholders.
Yup, corporations better start lowering fees and landlords lowering rents. Unfortunately wages can't be controlled and that's also hurting the restaurants.
@@dalegribble60 I notice that corporations and landlords don't think they should be affected by inflation. They think only the customer should be affected. If they are hit with paying higher wages or taxes, they want to pass it all on to the customer. They think their profit should remain the same or increase.
The CEOs and suppliers of many of these fast food restaurants and coffee houses live in 30 million dollar mansions due to profits and lifestyles that customers made them wealthy. Now that they are more than wealthy, why not pass some of the profits onto customers that made them very, very wealthy ??? More than likely the CEOs will make more wealth by more customers thru their establishments with better quality foods and lower prices
Not just the food, but delivery now doubles the price and no longer affordable to have pizza or Chinese food delivered anymore. We had the luxury of always doing it in 80-90's and was still cheap. Now everyone is paying a ton. No way $10 pizza becomes $40 just to deliver. Cheaper to eat at a sit down. Sad to see how things are aren't improving in some things. It's getting worse
"Profits fell short of expectation" still meant they posted profits, just not as much as they hoped. This means they have no real incentive to do anything about the ridiculous prices.
Exactly. It's a case of 'We made 1.5 billion in profits instead of the 2 billion we had projected last year.'
I still won’t pay more than $6 for lunch

Okay, if you make more than $75,000 a year you should never go to Olive garden. In fact no one should ever go to Olive garden. They're not cheap, and they're not even very good. If you want real Italian food that is actually good find a smaller local mom and pop restaurant. Many have similar or even slightly lower prices and all of them even the ones that are a bit more expensive are going to be leagues ahead in terms of food, value, and service. Also, smaller places don't have questionable hiring practices where they require people to look at a weird blue fake person and take a personality test

As someone who has lived in Las Angeles my whole life, I can say for certain that people need to eat to live. Period. It's garbage, the food isn't worth the price. I also know it isn't a necessary price raise when others offer higher quality food at a lower price. Can literally get a hand made authentic Japanese meal including sushi for less than $12 where I'm at (I mean during happy hour, but come on!)
This is why people need to stop eating fast food so much and start making more healthy homecooked meals.
Who else remembers the dollar menu? You used to be able to get a hambuger at McDonald's for one dollar, literally. Sure they were small, but you could get like three of them for $3. and make a meal out of that.
I lived in California, my wife and I used to go to fast food restaurant couple times a week just to give my wife an easy day of none cooking. Since the $20 per hours happened, the fast food price went up, we never go to fast food restaurant no more. My wife made french fries and all kind of sandwiches at home, we eat better now with homemade sandwiches and a lot of veggies.
Prices at chain restaurants as well , went out last night 100 dollars for 2 with a shared starter and no dessert place was 2/3 empty never seen it like that
They need to bring the "Dollar menu" back!!!
even Dollar Tree can't afford to bring that back, lol!
Good luck with that. 🤷
Problem is they’re so out of touch, they don’t know what affordable means any more.
Because of the price increases I haven't eaten any fast food in a few months I feel great.
