- waydesworldhawaii.com "CHILD FRIENDLY" during the week, NOT ON WEEKENDS, to busy with locals and drinking. Cromwell's is a Locals Lazy Sunday Pool Party type of Place...To Tourists and vacationers, they don't have a clue it even exists. Again...Allz good with that for the locals...Cromwells is located in Kahala near Black Point. A very ritzy neighborhood, but getting to and finding this place is tricky if you don't know where to park or where to walk alone the ocean ledge to get to it. This location (Gods Ocean Pool) is a famous one, it sites in front of the Famous Shangri La Museum, this was once the home owned by the Famous and Rich Doris Duke. The kicker and most don't know this story... Doris Duke was married to James Cromwell...and well...there you go, that's where the name comes from! Now, the entire Ocean Pool was actual a docking area for the couples YACHT. The Docking area for the couples Yacht was to be a part of the Shangri La Museum, but they choose to give it to the People of Hawaii FOR ALL to enjoy...Technically this location would be TRASPASSING if they chose to Fence the area off for the museum. The docking area has a sandy bottom as well as being well protected from the ruff surf. This location was a perfect spot to build the entire Jetty system that still stands perfectly today made out of Lava Rock...With the yacht now gone, it's become a locals playground! Jumping and swimming is the biggest craze here, but a warning...watch yourself...DO NOT JUMP IN head first and also watch yourself getting out...People have been known to cut or injure themselves getting in and out of the pool by going up the rock walls...There is a set of Rock Stairs, but they are to the FAR LEFT of the pool..USE THEM to get in and out. Most don't use that way out, they climb up the rock walls to get out where they jumped in. This Location is NOT FOR CHILDREN in anyway. Because you need to walk and cross the far left side of the Ocean Ledge, you will get wet and it is HIGHLY suggested you go only on CALM current days.
NOTE: Funny fact...After Doris Duke Divorced James Cromwell she actual got involved in a relationship with "THE DUKE" himself, Duke Kahanamoku...Can you believe that one? Doris Duke, was a Highly recognizable person and well known in the community...SHE HAD MONEY...and one of the cool things about her is she SPENT it in the right places...Doing good deeds for those less fortunate. Sometime you should look up her story...it's friggin fascinating, but that my friends...is another story ;)
I have noticed considerable drinking and trashing at this location...THIS IS NOT PONO and is UNACCEPTABLE! Pick up what you bring in and respect the community...There are too mnay selfish punks here in Hawaii and this place WILL BE SHUT DOWN if it continues...once that happens, we will only have ourselves to blame!

I've NEVER been out of Louisiana (well a few times to Texas doesn't count lol) so I've only went swimming in muddy creeks, lakes or back yard swimming pool. This is freaking PARADISE for someone like me!!!! And now that I have a 5 year old, somehow-someway he & I will one day visit a "real" beach/ocean!

That pool party looks like some major fun! Nice use of the Go Pro cameras too! I was out there a few years ago on the North Shore shooting behind the scenes footage on the set of LOST. I was so busy that I didn't get to really spend time checking the island out...hopefully soon I can get back there.

Been yrs since I've been here. Used to venture all the way from Ewa. Many people pass by Oahu now for the outer Islands thinking Oahu is over crowded with little to offer. Wrong. Many, many places unknown that rival other islands sites, like the beach parks near Laie, still uncrowded. Nice local kine flavah ! Shoots bruddah Wayne..

Maybe you've already done this, but a great video would be at Duke's on Sunday from 4-6 pm. The place goes crazy with dancing at the beach bar. Henry Kapono's band plays. It's free. People come right off the beach. Some in bikinis.

Hi Wayde, i have a question, do you know of a good place for real sushi. Not that fake pre made rolls. Somewhere for fresh salmon, and fresh rolls. Gonna be back there for labor day weekend and thought maybe you can help recommend a place.
Also, may i suggest that you do a writeup in the info or show it in your video of how to get to the places on your videos. Last year, we tried to find a few places from your video, but it was hard to find and we ended up driving around most of the time.
