  • For some businesses, an electric truck’s current need to stop and charge is a challenge that could prevent them from embracing the new technology. However, several companies have already proven it can be possible to go electric just by making small adaptations.
Erikssons Åkeri in Sweden is one of the first companies to successfully integrate electric trucks into its fleet for regional distribution. In late 2021, the company got one of the first-ever series-produced electric trucks from Volvo. Now it operates three trucks in regional distribution for around 12 hours per day.
“We want to be a leader in our industry and together with our customers, lead the transition to electromobility,” says Gunnar Eriksson, CEO at Erikssons Åkeri. “Since more and more of our customers have sustainability requirements, having these electric trucks in our fleet gives us a competitive advantage and makes us an early adopter in offering fossil fuel-free transport.”

Are you using Text to Speech for the narrator? The voice has some notable artefacts.

330km is a very short day even including loading and unloading. Saying you crossed a border makes it seem a long run but its not.

Well, we all know that we need to find alternatives to diesel, electric trucks being one of them. However, all new technologies are developed over time. As you can see above, there are already plenty of possibilities to use electric trucks on regional routes. As a network of fast chargers is built out, electric trucks can perform increasingly longer transport tasks. The development of batteries will also improve rapidly in the near future.

The most daily drivers dont drive more then this distance in Sweden. So all regional drivers are possible. But night staff that transport longer distance arent possible yet.

O caminhoneiro que for dirigir um caminhão elétrico vai dormir no volante muito rápido porque não tem ruído nenhum isso e um ponto negativo.

Soo...charging was convenient but not strictly necessary, and all of this electric power and work hours were wasted driving an empty trailer around the country half of the time, in order to pick up some fizzy water for the other half of the trip? Geez.

That isn't a EV-problem but how it is for a lot of transports. But at lest with an EV it doesn't use fossile based fuel for those empty kilometers.
