To look at the average performance of a player is a good starting point, but I would also add recent performance, regression line (trend), team performance (because this correlates to a certain degree) and standard deviation. If you take this into consideration, too, the actual probability can even be much higher or significantly lower.
Novice newbie here...WHY is the line movement so important to pay attention to? And do you bet on the movement that is going from the - underdog to the + favorite?
Because the drastic line movement may indicate something has changed in the lineup, if a -500 Chiefs drops to a -200 check the injury report because Mahomes may be listed as out. In baseball it could mean a big hitter is out or the starting pitcher has a high ERA. More subtle changes can be something more simple like the team got delayed in travel so they only had 1 practice, they’re playing in Denver with high altitude, at practice they moved a player from the 1st line to the 3rd. All of these things can influence a Sportsbook to adjust a line or player prop.

@@Samuel27x depends on what I find, if there is no solid info or reason for why the book adjusted it would be a no play for me… there’s either a player resting or injured that is not being listed or made public.
In my example of the Chiefs losing Mahomes, I would consider taking the underdogs at plus money depending on the odds, but if my plan was to take the Chiefs to win or cover a spread, I would walk away from that play if the line started moving against me.

It all depends on the game. I find that betting in play is better than better before the match starts. But look at last games. Like Argentina Vs Colombia. If you bet cards Argentina is disciplined and gets carded not often. Colombia averages about 2 per game

Vegas insider is pretty good and has that info for most major NA sports but, if it’s a fringe game that has low interest like the pistons vs the grizzlies either the bet or money or both may not be available until closer to game time. It depends on how much action the market is seeing, and most sharps don’t bet until 20 minutes before game start.

1 to 2 bets on high probability picks is good, I would do more than 4 picks a day. No need to put majority of your bankroll on the line in one day.
