I had a lump under my chin and on ultrasound the doctor referred me for two issues, a growth under the chin and a growth on the thyroid. I underwent core needle biopsies on both, and they were inconclusive, the ENT consultant decided to remove the thyroid as a precaution against thyroid cancer. I also had an MRI scan for the chin lump. On the day for surgery I ended up with two surgeries, a hemithyroidectomy and a chin lump removal. The thyroid was found to be benign but the chin lump lymphoma (blood cancer). As a result of the thyroid surgery I now take 25mg levothyroxine daily, as soon as I get up in the morning, (this is usually more than 30 minutes prior to breakfast). For the lymphoma I received rituximab monotherapy and am now in remission.
Ugh..doctors…always want to remove stuff. Surgery is big money. I bought this small container of kelp seasoning, tastes great on everything..adds a little more iodine, which the thyroid absorbs and prevents most cancer. Not saying it works for everyone…but there’s so many herbalist remedies to try first. Most drugs are synthetics from natures original design.
It gets confusing when doctors say to avoid taking with an "antacid". Sometimes it means calcium antacids such as tums. Othertimes it means medications such as prilosec or pepcid. It would be nice if doctors remembered to clarify that when mentioning interactions.
I was born with hypothyroidism, I am now 57 yo. I have been lucky, in the sense that I have never suffered any side effects that you have described to the best of my knowledge.

My doctor prescribed me levothyroxine sodium 59 mcg tab, but I have been learning a lot about hyperthyroidism and this medication is for hipothyroidim , why do they prescribe something that will affect my health??
Thank you for the video, I really helped to understand the side effects better than the leaflet. I am taking half a pill daily . Before taking it , I’ll experience some hot flashes . I did a brain surgery in November 2022 . I had a pituitary tumor I must say I don’t have serious side effects. It’s just cramps on my left hand and feet but taking medication for it. Hello, can I increase the dose twice a week and then stay on a lower dose for the remaining days, or should the dose be increased overall for the week? for example, i take 50mcg 5 days and 100mcg twice a week, or should it be increased to 75mcg daily? Please advise.
I've been on levothyroxine for over 20 years and I honestly don't think it is working. Every time I see my Dr it's obese I am sick of hearing that. I'm 64 years old. And I always have to get a ultrasound of my thyroid because of nodules .

I have stage 3 Hashimotos. My dose of eltroxin is 175 mcg right now. i used to start on sydtroid but the nodule in my neck got rapidly big, it triggered it. i could barely swallow. I found out after researching a lot and by try and error that the sythroid has an oil in it that is most likelt soy oil, which is a big no go. and also povidone. which is iodine, which is very good if you are hypothyroid but with hashimotos with reactive nodules it must be avoided, finally after 2 years of this trial and error i only take white without colorant without iodine just simple eltroxin. i also take 15 mg little dose of dessicated thyroid which most doctors are very against, but my endocrinologist agreed and that helps my T3 out as well.

I can only take the accord brand of levothyroxine. I can take the teva brand but it doesn't feel great. Any other brand makes me sick. Its the fillers that they use. Teva levothyroxine are b8gger than accord brand... its crazy the difference.... but it is all fillers and the little amount of synthetic throid for that amount (25, 50, 100) It is recommended by specialist to NOT mix brands or to keep swapping brands. So good idea to keep a dairy on which brand you are on and which ones disagree. Then tell your pharmacy that brand (that doesn't make you ill) is the only one you can take. And demand it every time you put in a prescription. Xx
i refuse to take levothyroxine as one of the side effects is hair loss, my hair has been thinning out for years and it doesn't need more help from this med.
it's also known under the brand name Euthyrox. Also why is your advice on when to take these meds so opposite to everybody else, including my GP. Just about everyone, including my GP, states that it should be taken at night for the best results. This leads me to ask are you really a qualified Dr or just some random youtuber with no real knowledge of Levothyroxin.
Hi John. I’ll reply to your comment in good faith and and answer each of your concerns in turn. Firstly the direct advice from the NHS is that levothyroxine should be taken in the morning, ideally at least 30 minutes before having breakfast or a drink containing caffeine, like tea or coffee. Whilst this is direct advice from the NHS everyone can and will have different times they take their medications. Secondly, yes I am a fully qualified doctor. I hold an active license with the General Medical Council in the U.K. I have been a practicing doctor in the NHS for almost 10 years. I also hold a PhD and a Masters degree in medical research. I've since lost my eyebrows, have dry hair and fall off, dry brittle nails, gain weight and can't seem to loose it and I've been on alot of diets..I am tired, fatigue all the time. Is this med worthy all this? Not anymore..I am off it..taking Selenium. VIT-D, Iodine. They keep you on meds that doesn't cure the problem..

I’m confused because this is not how the instructions say to take it. You should wait 2-4 hrs after taking it not a half hour to eat or drink
Please follow your individual medication instructions. The advice I give here isn’t for specific formulations/brands but generic advice from the NHS
200 mg is far too much
Yes my dose is in micrograms, not milligrams
200mcg is bordering on needing to see a specialist and having in depth blood test.
Is there any chance that the problem is an iodine deficiency, which a supplement could fix?
Try peppermint sugar free candy to handle what you are using antiacids to treat.
Thanks a lot.
Most welcome!
