Levothyroxine (aka Synthroid) rarely works by itself. It replaces ONLY T4. Your body also needs T3, which the body is supposed to be able to convert Levothyroxine into T4 *in a thyroid gland that's functioning right*. It made my heart rate go to 111. I’m pregnant with a heart condition so I had to stop taking it. My cardiologist was concerned about my heart rate but for some reason didn’t seem to think it was because of Levothyroxine.
On this for many years, and does not solve the problem. I probably need pure T3 as the conversion from T4 is not working. Better still, get to the root cause, which is either the liver/gallbladder or the immune system. That I also take immune depressants is also fucking things up.

You might want to look into natural desiccated thyroid instead of levothyroxine. I was on levothyroxine for 20 years and although it did provide T3, it did not improve my symptoms. My endocrinologist changed me over to NDT and it did help but neither one totally eliminated the symptoms.
Was taking my t4 correctly one hour before or after food/drink no other medication near the thyroid meds after my total thyroidectomy in 2019, unfortunately it contained lactose (I'm lactose intolerant and have colitis) i managed to get on T3... All by my gp... This also contained lactose 🤦♀️ my gp pushed and pulled me on to different t4/T3 meds lactose free, but no matter what I do I can't cope with the side effects, stomach /bowle, diarrhea, cramps, headache, feeling sick, palpitations, tremors sweating.. I got hyperthyroidism after giving birth to my first son, then ten yrs later i got hypothyroidism after giving birth to my second son. I still suffer from hypothyroidism. I just do not understand how pregnancy brought this on. Could you please comment, Doctor?
You probably had it your entire life but didn't get diagnosed until you were pregnant. I've had it and doctor's that wanted to keep me sick deliberately didn't help me. I knew when I had hypothyroidism and no doctor helped me. Pisses me off when I can't get help. I know I have hashimotos but this doctor is a bitch and won't tell the truth. She's unqualified to treat it so she avoids that I need a specialist.
Iodine deficiency is a cause of hypothyroidism, however, very few individuals in the western world are iodine deficient. It is prevalent elsewhere in the world, but not in the UK.
Weird. Didn’t address possibility of taking seven pills once a week. Studies have shown this is just as effective as taking levothyroxine daily. I had Hashimotos after a pregnancy and had a hard time taking this med daily and my doctor suggested trying the once a week method due to supporting studies. I’ve taken mine this way for over 20 years. No issues.
I was diagnosed at 14 years old with a goiter, been on levothyroxine for 13 years and dose is still changed every 3 months. I started on 350mcg and now im on 200mcg but it goes up or down 50mcg each time.
im on 200 micrograms have been for 9 years but im always down and tired my life is miserable since i was diagnosed and recently ive lost weight making me look awful more so on my face whic i suppose could be due to my age im 44 and have stopped my period and have hot flushes all day and night and this was age my mother went through the change i do admit im bad for not taking my thyroxine at same time every day but i do take it daily im also aneamic and have vitimin B12 deficeny
Vitamin B12 deficiency probably doesn’t help with the tiredness but I have had extreme fatigue for 28 years and no thyroid prescription I have taken (levothyroxine or natural desiccated thyroid) has changed that but I can tell you what did. I took Dr.Westin Child’s adrenal gland reset and T3 conversion booster and it made a real difference. Check him out on UA-cam and Pinterest. Hope this helps

I don't think this guy is legit......it's like he just read from the information sheet and didn't even explain t3 t4 proteins or how your body converts the hormones
It should regulate your thyroid hormones which improves fertility (as is the case when any hormone imbalance is corrected), and taking thyroid hormones during pregnancy (especially in the first trimester when the fetus relies 100% on your thyroid hormone supply) is vital for the proper development of your baby's brain and nervous system. According to the research, cognitive impairment and learning disabilities can occur if the fetus is deficient in thyroid hormones. Just remember the baby will leach your thyroid hormones from you, so just make sure your dose is optimal (i.e: TSH below 2 mIU/L ) for BOTH of you, (all too often people only focus on the baby's health and forget about the woman's health). I wish you and yours nothing but optimal health, luck and happiness!
I have had my thyroid removed and the levothyroxine has ruined my life. Meat tastes like it is rotten and sausage cooking smells like scorching chemicals. I hate this medicine. I can’t eat Lima Beans and some other favorite foods. My doctors reduced the dosage and they finally gave me a smaller milligram but I have to take two but the refuse to give me another medication. I am so frustrated and on the verge of stopping the medication completely.

I usually take mine first thing in the morning with a full glass of water, as indicated in the video. I’ll wait at least 45 mins before eating anything
My heartrate is 90 when in bed at night, my heart is falling out, weightgain, heartburn so bad i don’t even wanna eat anything 6 months in …….my last heartrate was 160/90. before i just was little tired . I don’t wanna take it anymore
Any one have any tips for people with insomnia due to Levothyroxine? I had a complete Thyroidectomy in August. I was put on 150 mcg to start with. When they checked my blood they reduced the dose to 125 mcg. I don't have any other side effects other than terrible insomnia. Any suggestions?
If you can and are able to walk on a daily do so and get sunshine without sunblock. Drink at least 8-8oz glasses of water everyday. Turn off cellphone at least one hour before you want to go to sleep. Also check the internet on how to do deep breathing to help you relax.
I was told to take it first thing in the morning, and wait an hour before consuming anything else other than water. I put one pill next to my bed and cover it with a glass, that way I know if I took it or not.
Finally… I thought I was the only one experiencing extreme fatigue and weakness from taking levothyroxine. The first time I took it, I remember having anxiety and hunger but no weakness. I don’t remember if I was taking synthroid or levothyroxine. This time around, the levothyroxine pill looks different and I’m not experiencing anxiety on it but extreme weakness. I was hoping it would make me feel stronger not weaker lol especially now that I’m actually consistent with taking it. I thought this would finally fix my hypothyroid weakness and all the symptoms but I guess not…how did this disorder even manifest in the first place? I wish I could get to the root cause so I could feel healthy again and actually enjoy living lol

Hello doctor, can please tell me why kelp worsen the hypothyroid situation. I saw some videos on UA-cam who said that they are using kelp supplement in place of levothyroxine. And also they are managing their thyroid with that. Can you please suggest me what should I do.
This was really interesting to watch as someone who has congenital hypothyroidism (I was born without a thyroid at all). It’s interesting to see all the things to consider when taking levothyroxine since it’s all I’ve ever known and never have to think about.
Ohmygod what was your mothers lifestyle like, is she diagnosed hypothyroid or was severely malnourished? Does she come from radiated geography of Chernobyl spill or radiated areas in Japan? How did this happen
I take an oil based liquid drug since every pill failed absorption and I went into heart failure. For years, even today, my levels still are not right and a lot of the health issue I have is because of this drug not absorbing correctly. I found it suspect it’s all food related why nothing is working, you can NOT take any type of soy products or products with soy in them and or drink coffee with this drug which I always have since the day they removed my thyroid. So now I’m going to start this diet change in combination and see on the next blood text if this worked and I believe it will. I’ll give an update but im sure there are many others out there like myself. It can take years to get your levels right since most doctors are uneducated in this area and im talking about the ones who even specialize in this area of expertise. Patients need to advocate for themselves and do their own research as I did! If it wasn’t for the research I’ve done myself, who knows where Id be today - I’m only still able to talk about it because I’ve constantly been on top of my own health and research.
Hello, can I increase the dose twice a week and then stay on a lower dose for the remaining days, or should the dose be increased overall for the week? for example, i take 50mcg 5 days and 100mcg twice a week, or should it be increased to 75mcg daily? Please advise.

'Certain foods can influence how well levothyroxine works', but you do not say how. Do they hamper the effect or heighten it?
I could’ve taken levothyroxine forever and not seen any improvement, but natural Synthroid made a big difference.
Natural synthroid? Please elaborate. Where do you get it?
I agree it's position
Where do u get this from
Do you mean desiccated thyroid??
I took it foe years but when I saw a Thyroid specialist he.told me to take ONLY name brand Synthroid because it is accurate where the generic can vary even from pill to pill. I have done better staying away from the generic.
Short, sweet, and to the point.
Thank you Doctor for these important information
Thanks this really helped. I took 200mcg per day and have only just recently found the correct ways to take the drug. The Dr`s do not explain any of the information you have just detailed. As a result of altering my dose time and observing the precautions my dose has been lowered to 175mcg. Thanks again
Jesus, man, don't you read the leaflet that comes with your meds? Or ask the pharmacist, if they don't give a leaflet w instruction? Or, as U are on the internet, just type " how to take levothyroxine" on either google or youtube, and you'll get that information. It's not that hard. and, by the way, 200mcg is huge. How comes you never went to dr. before, when you started to have symptoms?
Well, I am totally blown away. I’ve been taking this medication for several years. The reason my doctor gave for prescribing it was for post nasal, drip, nothing about thyroid or anything like that. I checked the bottle to make sure that it was the same thing and I take two pills a day For my postnasal drip. Guess what my post nasal drip is no better!

Is it okay to take lyothyronine with Levothyroxine? Or seperate them each day?
I have a question, please. My sister’s thyroid was radiated. She is on Liothyronine plus Levothyroxine. Her T3 is too low, but her Endocrinologist REFUSES to do anything about it. I said she might take some Iodine. Here is her response to me : “ Iodine CANNOT be taken by people who are on Liothyronine and Levothyroxine “. Do you know of any REASON why Iodine would have negative effects on those two medications that are taken together ? Please, please, help us out by answering. Today is 4-20-2024. Thank you !

@@JHPMedicalUK Thank you very much for your polite cop out. I think you are aware if taking iodine with Levothyroxine and Liothyronine is a complete “ No No “ for ALL patients or not. If yes, that is acceptable. If “ in some cases “, then that also is acceptable. It, to pull a total cop out, is just not acceptable. Goodbye.
It made my heart rate go to 111. I’m pregnant with a heart condition so I had to stop taking it. My cardiologist was concerned about my heart rate but for some reason didn’t seem to think it was because of Levothyroxine.
Hope you're okay now. I've not heard of it increasing heart rate unless the dosage is too high, like in hyperthyroidism.
Yes it does
What mcg were you on?
Thanks for the video, it has been a great help understand about my medication.
How dangerous is it to take 125mcg at 70 tsh. Tsh is supposed to be under 5
On this for many years, and does not solve the problem. I probably need pure T3 as the conversion from T4 is not working. Better still, get to the root cause, which is either the liver/gallbladder or the immune system. That I also take immune depressants is also fucking things up.

Now..there's a time my heart rate so, fast.
So are you saying no kelp or seaweed?
Since i been on Levothyroxine, ive felt air hunger, sleep apnea type of sleep, but mainly after heavy exercises, and or on hangovers. Definitely not a good pill. I may have just been deficient in iodine since i was off of iodized salt? Non hashi, i think im gonna try to leave it

You might want to look into natural desiccated thyroid instead of levothyroxine. I was on levothyroxine for 20 years and although it did provide T3, it did not improve my symptoms. My endocrinologist changed me over to NDT and it did help but neither one totally eliminated the symptoms.

Wrong! Iodine is great to help your thyroid . Please give factual advice
Why
Question 🙋♀️ can I get pregnant 🤰 and also do I need to stop think this medicine if am pregnant

@@MrsPaulaTorres My grandmother has hypothyroidism. Interesting guesses tho.
