One of the things I like about the old night lords sculpts is that it doesn't look as purpose made. The dreadnought and night raptors have skin tied to them and chains hanging from them. As if the legionaries themselves have done it. The night lords aren't a legion of artificers. They're a legion of murderers. I think that look is one of the things that's been very much lost in the recent models.
My biggest gripe with contekar is they are not the atramentar. We all wanted our 1st legion terminators as depicted in the ADB trilogy with the lion shoulderpad. Contekar just suck
Lol with the way the Atramentar perform in game, you'd never take them anyway. Or the Contekar for that matter, but they are at least not in the literal bottom tier of legion termies.
I think an honourable shout is the CSM raptors kit It adds so much nightlords looking stuff to your army and they models themselves can be used as night Raptors with either chain weapons or lighting claws, their trim looks like lighting bolts and a couple spare helmets make a great looking squad
I've been a Night Lord player for quite some time and never had any bad experiences with the Night Raptor, Praetor, Sevatar or Curze sculpts... Yesterday, however, I had the displeasure of building the Contekar Terminator squad. Aside from FW only supplying 3 heavy flamers and 2 volkite weapons, which is a joke in its own right, seeing as you'll never want to mix weapon options in the squad, the chainweapons and dangling hooks share the problem, the hooks on the praetor have. They are a barely sculpted block of resin. I kid you not, I had to cut out the teeth on the chainweapons. Thank the gods that I only bought 5 of these buggers, otherwise I'd have scrapped the resin weapons entirely and replaced them with the CSM Raptor Chainswords. I've actually never had a worse time, building terminators...so yeah, not that much of a fan either. Aside from that - great video!
@@cornchaptermasterofcarmine5902 I don't know how well they'll fit with Cataphractii, seeing as they are Tartaros. Either way, the scalecreep hurts these guys a good bit but other than that I also thought about combining them with one or two Tartaros Kits and some etched brass to get those sweet WS 4 First Company Elite ... But yeah, having them being right handed is surprisingly annoying when planning to convert. Unless, of course, you have a 3D printer at the ready.
I had the same issue with the teeth on the chain weapons. I contacted FW customer service about it and they said that's how there supposed to be (bs). This was 3 years ago, so it sounds like it hasn't gotten any better. Unfortunately for me, I lost momentum with the Night Lords I was building/painting over this and went over to other project like Battletech at the time and haven't gotten around to dealing with the mess fixing them.
I really like the Terror Squad kit because of how it kind of makes them look like arrogant assholes. And the skull helmet can be used as for a Chaplain if you want. The MKVI heads makes me think of ratskulls tho (is presumebly supposed to look like bat Skulls Maybe?). For the contekar Im thinking maybe harpoons would work? To get more into that whole ”hunting people to butcher them” aesthetic?
Idk about the chain glaives but the dg power scythe fit perfectly with the curent mark 3 armor. if you add the additional mk3 gauntlet parts it’s almost seamless
On the Space Wolf praetor's bolt pistol, it's the exact same design as the pistols in Mk VI despoiler upgrade set. So I'm pretty sure that is the new design for 30k bolt pistols we can expect to see on all new models in the future.
For me the weapon of the Tartaros Praetor is not a Chainglaive as the description states, for me it is a Headmans Axe. And envisioning this behemoth with with brutal, archaic weapon, tearing appart loyalists is, for me at least, a very nice image. I really like it.
Hey Macca. Loving the reviews so far but I’ve noticed that perhaps that you may have a slight bias against mk6 ? Nothing wrong if that’s the case, just wondered if my observation was correct?
He’s stated he does not like it because of how much it’s being shoved in everyone faces, and he’s right in that regard. Me personally, I’m not a fan of it unless it suits a legion well such as the raven guard (not to hate on anyone who uses mk6 because I don’t mind or look down on it AT ALL, just a thematic person!)
I think the night raptor models, as they are with chain swords and Bolt pistols in the kit, would make great assault marines. There are better 3rd party miniatures floating around that come with weapons options.
I miss that passion in old heresy models. That sevetar model really did stand the test of time. Love the curse model too except for the head, do not like the head at all.
I think the the raptors are showing there age a bit, other than that I think that the range has a good amount of stuff, it's just the quality of that stuff that kinda suffers...
Wait. Wasnt the terminator praetor armed with an illegal loadout (the volkite serpenta isnt available to terminator praetors) when it was first released? Thats gotta be a mark against it.
24:24 (GW SlMP/SHlLL) Whhhy..... _WHY (?)_ Is The Bonus Round on The (Loyalist) Space Wolves ~&~ _*Not*- The Night Lords (❓) (* because, Dumbass: Mac already recently did a Video on Space Wolves back in July/August.....and these 2 SW Models just recently got released after the Video dropped) "Ohhhhh.............wait, what??"
Nope he just fit them in, as they were released after he has done the SW one and no point making a separate video for just 2 models. Also to edit the SW video, he would have to delete and re upload and lose all the views he already got on the SW video.

Contekar are WS 5 with shit weapons while Atramentar are WS 4 with good weapons. Well, against elite terminators they won't do shit.
@@_the_eversor_lad_ there lies the huge issue

I gave my Konrad a skull helmet and the mk 4 lighting claws, the ones that go on top of the powerfist, instead of the bare head and predator knives
Regarding Curze's claws, I'll bet someone watched Predator just before sculpting dual claws. They're a complete copy.

I've thought about using the relevant parts from contekar and putting them on bare bones cataphractii. More Atramentar than contekar.

I have a night lord's Horus heresy army! Got a lot of these models mixed with 3d printed parts and some kit bashing
When I get Curze I'm tempted to try get mk2 fw claws on him
Been waiting on this

I got Heads for Nightlords, Iron Warriors & Dark Angel's I use them for my Black legion adding a bit of every faction I like to build the legion
rare community W with that SW redesign. Wish it would happen more often
The reason why flamers are weird is because flames burn skin, but these guys want to collect skin.
@@LethargicGMwhatever breaks morale fastest, the Lords of the Night will do.
Would be cool if they had some Scorched skin on them.
I mean it doesn't melt skin, it would literally scar it and make it more scary for people seeing what they will become.
@@SpiritStoneWarrior94-yx3gs I didn’t say it would melt it. Also Prometheum burns pretty hot and sticks to the skin.
I think you couldn't be more wrong about the Curze model
