Awesome to see some local content, I am in Edmonton and I think this year I will try to do a guided day out in the back country and AST1. Any other suggestions to get started? clubs?

I also started with a couple of guided trips. Then I did a couple of trips with a meetup group. I think it was CSMC, but it was 10yrs ago. After that I had plenty of touring partners with a near equal risk tolerance and ambition. Though, I did quite a few days with ACC back in 2016/17. Not sure how it is now but I made a lot of touring partners there too.

still can't find a route of that hairy exit you mentioned. Anywhere I can still find it?

I have my gps route on Strava (William Sim). It'll be added on to backcountry beta eventually as well, but I'm currently tied up with rebuilding it before adding more routes.
