I have the 2012 Coupe JCW in red with black stripes. You either really like its shape or you dont. Ive always wanted a Mini Cooper and just before I was ready to buy one I seen this. Instantly in love. Lots of room, even if your 6ft, goes like the clappers! Try sport mode, holy cow lol SO much fun on windy roads. Always puts a smile on my face. It doesnt just hug the road, its stuck to the road! Great design and very fun solid car. I feel safe in it, the doors are very solid and the sound system is amazing. Ive always had subs in my cars but the Mini sound system is perfect imo so I havent touched it. Ive had mine for over 3yrs now with 45k on the clock. I get a lot of compliments when people see me with it from all age groups but mainly the older generations which surprised me.
About the compliments, me too! I get 'em all the time and like you said, from all age groups. Just yesterday this 4 year old little girl told her dad she likes my car and he relayed that to me. I love my mini. I have the 2015 and I'm keeping it! I find nothing "odd" or "over-engineered" about it.
Ed Perez It’s an Emerald Grey (Only on the F series but had it resprayed) with a chilli red roof and mirror caps. Only emerald grey coupe on the roads to my knowledge 👌🏼 It’s gorgeous!
If you hold the toggle switch and run through all of the colors once, it will then flash and then your ambient lighting will continually run through the color spectrum over and over and over
I have owned two of these. 2011 and now a 2015 (pepper white). I get a rush everytime I drive it. It is so fun to drive! My first car was a VW Karmann Ghia 1968. I think that is why I fell in love with this car at first sight (it so reminded me of my first love). If you are in USA NH look for P&NUT.
Oh my goodness, this is kind of unbelievable. I loved my first car, a 1972 Karman Ghia purchased in 1974 and drove it unil 2012 after buying my second car, a 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe, which I love even more! We have good taste!! When I saw the title of this video, I thought the person posting it was going to be negative, and was pleasantly surprised it was quite the opposite. I like very much having a unique, stylish car.
I have a 2013 and get asked about it all the time. Many people think it's a convertible but it's not the convertible "Roadster." I love it, and get it gets lots of looks. Only thing is, with all MINIs, if battery dies on an automatic it's tricky to get it in neutral. I'm glad you don't see many on the roads.
A cool car, I wasn't sure of the looks when it first came out but seeing it a few years later drove one and ended up buying one. It feels very premium, great interior and fun to drive. Some extra pros: Each key saves your settings including ambient colour choice and radio channel, so no need to change the wife's settings. The keys also charge their batteries from the car. Very little wind buffering with both windows down. Great big boot. Great engine, gearbox and heavy steering which can be made heavier with the sports button. A few cons: the clutch is noticeably heavy when sitting in traffic so you need good leg muscles if queuing for hours every day, it's good on an open road. If its cold (say -10C) water on the car can freeze the rear spoiler down, yes this happened to us more than once. As far as I'm aware you can't stop it trying to rise so when this happens you either need to ensure you don't hit 50mph or put up with the constant beeping which won't stop until you turn the engine off.
This is the best looking mini ever, i have the SD in black it's got the JCW body kit, JCW calipers drilled disc brakes stage 1 remap 187 bhp 400 Nm, lowered, Dpf removed, everybody comments on how good it looks, driving it sensibly returns just over 51mpg combined, £30 a year road tax but most of all it's so fun to drive
I have the exactly same car . The red light above stearing wheel is an alarm system. Once you have locked the door, it will go slowly show the red light on to make you awake the alarm is now on so if anyone breaks into your car, the alarm will then set off :)
Hard to find now- Collectables. The most fun car to drive. Every time I take mine out (summer car) at least 3 or 4 guys swoons over it. Unfortunately, the car is always better looking than the swooners. lol
Bought my 2012 in December of 2011, packed on 80K open road miles (college driving) and then turned it into a summertime 'fun car'. Loads of fun to drive, especially with all of the suspension modifications I've added!! If you really want to enhance the already great handling...this is were you throw your money (seriously). Great mileage as well, it hasn't been tuned (but creeping up on it), even with a lead foot I can get 36-38 MPG. For me, it's a toy, but you can fit a weeks worth of groceries in the rear hatch easily too! I'll be the first to admit it's sort of 'ugly/cute' but I still love the little thing to death. *Get rid of the run flats, the ride will improve dramatically! I just carry a full sized spare in the rear for road trips.
I bought my 2012 R58 JCW (spice burnt orange) new and I'll NEVER part with it. I upgraded a few things over the years: I "smoked" all the emblems when I had the black stripes permanently painted and clear coated. I blacked all the chrome. I changed from "run flats" to regular tires and purchased a small electric air pump kit with a can of Slime I keep in the drop compartment in the trunk. Changed all the interior lights to LED (a MUST), installed a rear diffuser kit as well as a short throw shifter adapter. Last thing I did was installed the much needed second back up light after letting just one side irritate me for years. I am 6'2" and I don't even have the seat all the way back.....LOTS of room coupled with a deceivingly large trunk area. This car is a GO-CART on steroids and it gets 35mpg! NUGGET: (The "cut-outs" in the head liner are there for helmet space as these cars where rally-racers around Europe!) The only thing I'd like to do to it is put in a good front/rear/compartment camera system but I've not seen one that integrates nicely and looks factory so if anyone out there know of one drop me a comment!
Someone in my area has a black one with red racing stripes and ive always thought it was unique and super sporty lookin which led to me looking it up lol
massively underrated, bought one instead of a 911, yes they are that good, saved 100k buying this, i was so dammed impressed with its performance, i bought one right away.
Thanks so much for this fantastic video! We just bought the 2014 model of the coupe and LOVE IT. I especially appreciate the style changes that Mini made so that the coupe loses that boxy look most Minis have. And I can't wait to surprise my wife with the hidden compartment you revealed I had NO IDEA about. Thanks!
Nice review, the light on top of the tach is a flashing security light. And your last statement about MINI being made by BMW is half true. BMW group owns MINI but the assembly point is still in Oxford England by people who have worked for MINI for 20 to 30 years or the children of family members. Watch the Smithsonian Channel episode of Supercar Superbuild MINI. There are two other MINI factories in the UK, Hams Hall is where the engines are built, and Swindon is where the body panels are formed. You did teach me a new trick with the key being able to be removed. I have an r58s Coupe on my shopping list for 2020.
Does anyone here who owns one, find the ride overly harsh? I've heard they can be a tad noisy and the suspension harsher than the standard two-door hatch S model. Thanks.
A tip for your reviews... you kinda have a pessimistic tone to your presentation, as if you fear criticism for liking something. If you like something, say it. If you don't, say it too. Optimism is a good thing.
0:55 “You don’t see these on the roads”
This is what make it A special car and unique.
The red lens on the top of the speedo flashes when the hazards lights are on. And yes, I love my 2012 Coupe.

51mpg? No. Not even in Fred Flintstone mode.
Just bought a JCW version and I love it! 6ft tall but plenty of space and it goes! What a car!

The vents do serve a purpose. They let the smoke from burning oil out, when the turbo oil feed pipe dies....lol.

Doug demuro should review this car because the car is only available during 2nd generation era (2011-14)
He’s really biased and anal. Idk about that..
8:43 when you lock the car that red thing its a red light and blincks when is locked. Alarm xD
Great review. Are they pretty good on case compared to a regular mini cooper?
Love my 2013 R58S.
man, I actually like this. They aren't even on autotrader where I am
I really didn't like these when they came out, but I kinda do now, I tend to like cars with a unique usp.

Wonder if they'd be quieter and easier to love with if equipped with non-run-flat tires. They work wonders on my R56 regular MINI.
