RIP to the moving doors. That was the all time best illusion ever at Disneyland, it really felt like they made actual magic happen.
I'll never forget the time that I was riding during the sequence at 3:35 and the air being blown hit my lanyard, which in turn swung up and hit my face. At the time, I had actually believed I had been shot by a poison dart. I can't wait to post my next episode on this tomorrow.

As someone whose nearby park is Hollywood studios with an Indiana Jones attraction, I wish they would replace the stage show at HS with this ride. This seems a lot more fun

I fucken love this ride. You just can't fully know how good unless you'e ridden it. There's just so much, and that boulder at the end. I know how it's done, and it still gets me every time! SOOOO good. Imagnineering at it's finest.
I rode it 4 times at Disney last time I went. The ride broke down the last time we went on! They turned the lights on at the part that's supposed to be pitch black, then they got the cart going again, then the boulder didn't work properly.
Sarah English I went to Disney several years back, and the ride broke down right as we were underneath Indy. The ride was so intense to my younger self that when it broke and we didn't get any announcements as to what was going on, the anticipation of something suddenly happening to me caused me to have a full blown panic attack.
Oh gosh! I get panic attacks... I can't imagine having one on a Disney ride! Especially Indy because your heart is already racing!

In terms of production design this is the most impressive looking ride I’ve ever been on.

Each year I go to Disneyland this ride breaks down.
Technically the ride vehicles are just super sensitive. It's one of those rides you have to do early in the day if you want to be sure you got on.

Really? Was it because of the 🐍? I hate to act like a parent, but here it goes anyway. When I was your age, I wasn't allowed to go on this ride at all. The problem was, I didn't meet the height mark back then. This indicated that I wasn't the right height to board the Jeep. My dad and I waited outside of this attraction together while my mom and all of the unknown theme park guests boarded the ride vehicle that day.
Why does it feel so slow in this video??? in real life, this ride is super fast and exciting :$
The vehicle articulates itself in such a way that makes it feel like you are going much faster than you actually are

I remember one of the last times I went on this ride. I was suffering from constipation while waiting in line, and once I finally got on it had a mishap in the middle. As a result, we were allowed to reride it again for a better experience. Now, on this second riding, we went through the purple door, where we always went through the gold one.
As for my constipation, the minute we exited the ride I immediately bolted towards the nearest possible bathrooms.

The problem with this ride is that the sounds were out of line and it seems like there to many cars in this ride so it would stop sometimes like the bolder...but when it was on the bridge it was part of the ride. Even though it's a very old ride I will still love it. :3

I went on this ride as a kid and I had my eyes closed because I was so scared, I just wanted to see what I missed out on, but I was only five so this ride left me in tears.

Word is Disney Hollywood Studios just got the green light to build the Florida version of Indy along with Star Wars Land. I can't wait!!
Bigreid92 I don't see why they would, as Dinosaur uses the exact same ride system and track layout.
If they were to build an Indy ride there, it would probably use a different ride system.
They've said that for years. So far nothing concrete has been announced for DHS...I got a feeling that park is WDW's last priority compared to DAK and the construction in Epcot
I read the article in the Orlando Sentinel back in June. At the next D23 Expo it will be revealed that DHS will get the Disney California Adventures treatment and refurb the park close to 3 Billion dollars. Star Wars Land will finally come to fruition as well is some rumored Pixar rides. Yes the article stated that the Indy Stunt Show will be closed to make way for a new updated version of the Indy ride. The park will get a name change as well.
Bigreid92 I read the same article as well...but forgive me for being slightly skeptical. There are a lot of rumors swirling around everywhere and there've always been rumors swirling around WDW. Newspapers have reported that Magic Kingdom's Space Mountain would be remodeled to Disneyland's Space Mountain for nearly 10 years...and that never happened. And regarding the big announcement at the D23 Expo, well maybe there will be but maybe not. It seems a little unusual to me personally that in the midst of shutting down half the attractions at DHS Disney would choose to unveil more things about Shanghai Disneyland, EPCOT, and Disney Springs. One would think if they had more concrete plans, they would've announced them by now. After all, before Disney shut down anything in DCA back in 2007, they already announced their billion dollar expansion.

Ha, ha.... I remember riding this once, and it broken down JUST as you're climbing that side peak after Mara condemns the tourists to the Gates of Doom..... and some lights went on where lightning should have been! Gosh, we were stuck there for about 10 minutes, so I found myself hamming up a full geek-out discussion on The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones DVD box sets to a guy in front of me who had never seen it, and didn't know about The Temple of Doom being Chapter 23, nor that it takes place 1 year before Raiders of the Lost Ark - Chapter 24! Once the ride resumed, it was cool, but the greatest thing about the ride breaking down is that we literally got to stay in our seats for a SECOND trip through the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, without ever leaving!
I really wish they'd adjust Mara's voiceover. It's really hard to hear the words "Gates of Doom", which is the most crucial thing he says.

Someone help me out here... I rode this beast dozens of times back in the late 90's and I swear the "explosion" at 1:56 used to use REAL FIRE (which made getting stuck on the bridge a hundred times more intense!) Going back many years later, I was surprised to find it replaced with steam and an orange light. Am I just imagining things or did this ride used to have more pyrotechnics than it does now?

Yeah it did... When I rode it the year it was made, the truck also used to break down right there as the bridge would start to fall. Then it would start up and take off real quick. I'm assuming they took that part out or speed it way up to make it shorter of a ride. Too bad because it was definitely my favorite part.

I remember I used to be afraid of going on this ride. Every time my dad and sister wanted to go on, my mom and I would go on the Jungle cruise (she didn't really like the ride either lol) . Ever since then, its a been a tradition where every time we go to Disneyland as a family, my dad and sister go on Indiana Jones and my mom and I go on Jungle Cruise.

Can anyone confirm with me that after the refurbishments back in 2013/2014, the rides much faster now than it was before? Kinda like how I remembered it as a kid, with the sharp turns?
Because to my delight, the movements of the jeeps are way rougher (which is a good thing) than how it was for the past few years. LOVE IT!
Yeah, it does seem faster. That's probably why they removed some of Mara's dialogue.
The first time i went on the ride i was so scared that i shut my eyes but i reeeaaly enjoyed the shaking and rumbling. I tried to open my eyes but when i opened them, i was on the far right of the cart and the snake was in my face so i was like NOPE NOPE NOPE

I agree with everybody last time i got on this ride was last month and yes the sharp turns and ride parts are more faster than before. and always and always hold on to the lap bar in front of you.

Are the eyes still hollow? Like before the refurb and new effects, the eyes were eye-shaped holes with smoke or fog coming out of them. Or do the projections on the Mara face cover the holes? Or is is a new Mara statue completely?

This is an awesome ride my little brother said it was to loud and he didn't really like it but he didn't like thunder mountain either.... He's sensitive to the ears this ride is just really bumpy but fun and I'd ride it anytime
