Man when I approved this post on the Drummers' Community whilst at work I made a decision to come and watch as soon as I got home. Very cool video bro!
@@ForsytheVideo thanks for sharing your content with us. Personally I love DIY instruments and this is something really cool a lot of people could try out.
I kinda dig the sound of it. It rings a lot and I'm sure that can be tweaked. I'm wondering if the flex can be fixed by using a metal ring around the plastic bit where it's mounted. Maybe get some flat stock and have it bent into a hoop and welded on the end (or bolted together if you don't have access to a welder) then mount the lugs to that. With this method, you should be able to make a drum out of almost anything as it will mount to the hoop. I'd love to see a full Lowes kit!
@@ForsytheVideo I can’t tell for sure but it also looks like you could potentially make some wooden spacers to slide up in between that outer flange and the bucket. If you drill a hole through the spacers the lugs can bolt through them, hopefully stiffening the structure and stabilizing tuning. Also I realize this was 2 years ago and you’re probably on to other things by now.
I wonder if nesting two buckets would stiffen the drum and improve the feel? I guess you could also try cutting the second bucket shorter. This would lighten things up.
Working with centimetres and multisyllabic nomenclature. And - you do cool shit with drums! Down that way 40 years ago all we talked about was alligators, light beer, rot-resistant pot strains, and how Skynyrd was a FLORIDA band. Things change, man. Nice work...
This is stuff I like. You think like me ...test experiment and play with sound. Hey to stiffen up that flex you could add some cheap 1×2 furring strips like cross braces . This is actually a promising project.
Pretty wild for sure. Maybe you could run some metal rods from one side to the other in like some crossing pattern at different heights inside. Just guessing, I ain't no bucket drum expert 😂
too much effort and waste time you can make aold suitcase sound like kick if use right size not full size the mid size 60s 70s type suitcases snare is easy to make took forever get idea but rectangle tin not round with springs over it se my video

Thanks for the approval and for watching I really appreciate it! Killer community over there.

This is so awesome, I'm impressed. I can't wait to see the upcoming projects. Happy new year!
Thank you, Happy New Year!!
Really digging the mad max drum experiments you've been going down
Me too, I better do some guitar stuff before all the haters leave, haha. I love the drum experiments though, so much fun.

My thought was to do the same thing out of wood, since that's what I happen to have lying around. Thanks for the idea and for watching!

Your first line is exactly where I am right now just starting down this road. Awesome stuff.

Great ideas, I got rid of this some time ago, but if you go down that road come back and share your results!
Great Sound 😂 🤘👍
🤣

Nice work...
Some things change, some things stay the same, I'm a simple kinda man.
Remo makes these heads that sort of snap on to those buckets and have this portable snare wire clip.
Try putting a stack of washers on the screws between the 2 pieces of plastic. Maybe that would prevent the lugs from flexing so much.
Put a sheet metal ring around the bucket to mount the lugs
I think I'm going to try this but use an upper and lower tension ring and the Mali weave like a Djembe
The tom mount @ 4 minutes in looks like it came from a Granstar (loved mine), is that what your sacrificial tom was?
I have no clue, I remember it was in one of my parts bins. Could have been!
I love DIY projects like this!
Now that's a gift card well spent! 😂
Should make a snare version 🤔
thrift stores, reuse centers, yard sales or the curb the night before trash pick up are a hell of a lot cheaper than lowes!!!!
I mean it was like 3 bucks but sure
This is stuff I like. You think like me ...test experiment and play with sound.

Just curious what kind of lugs are those your using ?
Pointy ones I got from Drumfactorydirect.com

Haha, good idea. I'm thinking of making a reinforcement hoop from wood, but I will probably just abandon this crappy idea, haha.
FLEXING: Take a second drum ring and put it around the bucket on the stand-off where you have the lugs now.
aww, cool! 5:50 A 12 inch bass drum!
Lars snare from METALLICA 🥁
First. I like these drum build vids.
Thanks Brian! I;m having a blast with them.
What size drum head did you use?
12" pretty sure this was awhile ago
I need the snare piece for my snare drum the one on mine was damage in had to discard it just a tom at this point
You can get snare butt ends or throwoffs from Ebay or DrumfactoryDirect.com which is an awesome site.
Maybe use a second bucket, one inside the other, to make it more sturdy?
Definitely a good idea. Thanks for watching!
Dude just get (REMO bucket kit!) They are made for buckets exactly like you're doing!
The lids they make are for buckets so they sound better.
0:52 my favorite moment
I think it sounded better before you drilled the hole at the bottom, maybe just making a few holes on the side would have been enough, greetings
Nissssssssssssssssssce 🍻
Id just get rid of the whole bottom to be a concert tom.
Add spires to the inside
can you send me five pls

I think you wasted money lol
Whatever the cost of the bucket was, like 3 or 4 bucks. All the other parts went to a drum I was working on later.
