  • The writer and podcaster Andrew P. Sykes sets off on a trans-Pennine cycle from Morecambe on Lancashire’s west coast to the county’s historical capital of Lancaster, across the border to Yorkshire and, via Settle and Ripon, completes his trip in the city of York. The Way of the Roses is a route of contrasting landscapes and, at times, challenging terrain; join Andrew (and his bicycle Wanda) as they spend three days following one of northern England’s most popular cycle routes.

Are the 'Cold Dark North' stickers a thing? I don't think I've ever seen one before. The strange thing was what looks like a bullet hole next to the sticker...

That looks like a cracking ride, but I'm not sure my legs/lungs would cope with the climb out of Settle LOL.

Yes, it was. The cycle out of Settle is a challenge but, as you will discover if you listen to the podcast, there is a secret to climbing it... :-)

@@AndyWragg When I did it I passed a couple of local teenagers walking down the opposite way. "Tough cycling" one of them said. "Tough pushing" I replied.
