Ahsoka didn't know the purrgill can do inter-galactic travel until Huyang gave analysis on the Eye of Sion. Hence, she can only 'talk' to them on their second encounter. Re: Hayden, yes everyone wants more of him. But if we have more of Hayden, then you will hear complains about him taking over the show like how people complained about Boba Fett.

The thing is, the prequels always seemed like George was saying, "We need the have this character here and doing this Atchison point to be in line with Episodes IV, V, ang VI". This really put a clamp on how a character could be flushed out.
This episode, Hayden had so much more to worry with, and you said it. He crushed it.
I think Dave needed a platform where Anikan could actually interact with Ahsoka. What better medium than the World between Worlds. It can end up as a tool of lazy writing, but I think this was a good and proper use of it.

I have no emotional connection to Star Wars or Anakin and Ahsoka, I just like the concept and how it opens all these possibilities for good storytelling and I have to say that this episode was great. And what made it great, in my opinion, was everything that you complained about...
In order to write a good "is it a dream or reality" scene you have to make it open enough to interpretation but still give a hint of your intent and I believe that Anakin remembering (and referencing) his encounter with Luke is a great hint. Also, you have to make the dialogue as less expository as you can and the economy of the dialogues between Anakin and Ahsoka is close to perfection. No one speaks about the elephant in the room and when Ahsoka tries to speak about it Anakin stops her. That's genius writing! I know that fans would inhale a 2 hour episode of Ahsoka and Anakin running around Clone Wars battles and talking about their story but that would be just fan service, Filoni chose to serve the story he is telling right now and this is what he is supposed to do.
As for the purgill scene, I think it was just enough. After the intensity of the first half the story needed to breathe and the viewers needed time to adjust to the "new" Ahsoka. And I get what you say about how this change seem to be instantaneous but there are a couple of things that we have to cnsider. First of all, we see 15 minutes but the whole thing could be days for her. Second, near death experiences changes you in ways that you can't even understand. And last, but not least, she didn't transform into a higher being, she is back to her old self which is improved by the fact that she finished her training! We've seen her do incredible stuff, toying with inquisitors, standing her ground against Vader etc, and she was able to do these things despite the fact that she never finished her training. There are no lmits to where the story could go from here although I have a feeling that this show might be the last time we see Ahsoka...
Anyway, sorry for the long comment and I really love your channel and your reactions.

The part you're missing is that stoic Ashoka came from her dealing with vader on malachore. This is the cause of everything that different about her. She was far better adjusted in rebels until she discovered that Vader was Anakin and she realized why he had fallen. So yeah meeting vader she not being able to resolve her issues with him is what caused it all. Now she had her chance to deal with her vader issues and that slowed her to go back to being like she was in rebels

Hayden was superb. The younger Ahsoka I really liked. Rosario Dawson is a little bit awkward to me. I am fine with Hera. A little more 'spice' from all of them would be good. Music, the writing, & special effects were all stellar. Good review.👍

I respectfully disagree about Hera. I think Mary Elizabeth Winstead is crushing it and she looks and acts just like animated Hera! I can even feel her maternal vibe as she has given advice to both Ahsoka and Sabine and she seems to be the glue that holds everyone together. I respect your opinion though!

@@sakisaotome6753 Mary is better as Hera than Natasha is as Sabine.

It was huyang who worked it out for them in ep 3 that the Jedi archives had records of intergalactic hyperspace routes based on the migration patterns of purrgil. There was no way to know that purrgil had a specific route that they follow, heck she still doesn't know that the purrgil will take them to where they want to go. She didn't even know that the map elsbeth had would take them to thrawn and Ezra only that Morgan believed that it would. But as far as she knows the purrgil might take her anywhere. The difference is that now she now has faith to trust the force to take her where she needs to go.

Hayden was incredible and I was so happy to see him. I have to say, for me, Ahsoka, the show in its entirely so far, has been amazing to me. I have loved it, of course like anything it's not perfect, but it's been exactly what I wanted and seeing Feloni's plans and vision is amazing to me. I can't get enough. I'm looking forward to the rest of the seaon.

Melissa, I love your takes, but pay closer attention to the story. Ahsoka is only able to connect or think of connecting with the Purrgils after she changes to Ahsoka the White. And what do you mean by "do that at first"? Ahsoka is under water for most of the episode -- do you want her to connect to the Purrgils while she's fighting Anakin? And she didn't think she could do what Ezra did prior to becoming Ahsoka the white. She seems to have new abilities now, like sensing the past from objects, which we've never seen her do before.

I think anakins lesson was very layered. Probably with multiple meanings but i think part of what he was saying was that she was emotionally dying. She wasn't living she was simply moving through life existing pushing everyone and everything away from her. And she did it because she saw that attachment did to anakin and because of what he says about all that he is being in her. She's afraid of being him and falling just like he did. Especially given how similar they were to each other. So if he, who was the best of them could fall, what did that mean for her? So instead she tried to disconnect and so she existed but she wasn't dying. Probably though you can notice that when she fights she would get that spark of life back in her and when she would spend time with Sabine which is probably why she walked away from her as she was getting attachment to her. (Which is confirmed when she nearly killed shin because she thinks that shin killed Sabine)

The thing about young ahsoka is that none of these Ahsoka's were see be that first young Ahsoka we see or the siege of Mandalore Ahsoka are going Ahsoka. They are all 45 year old Ahsoka in a 14 and later 17 year old body. Ever Ahsoka in this episode went through so much and they all remember leading the order and order 66 and everything else that has arrived happened to her.

Ahsoka needed to be in the right headspace, with the Force, to connect to the whales. I thought this was an amazing episode and people love to tear stuff a part. I like Hera too.

This episode was the best directed, best written, best acted, and best engaging live action Star Wars content since the prequels. Better than Rogue One...sorry. This just felt like Star Wars. This series has me saying, "I wish Lucasfilms just waited on episodes 7-9 until realizing this was the crew they could have made it with. They could have brought the Rebels crew together with the original trilogy crew to have one awesome alliance to take on Thrawn. Just think about how that could have played out on screen. That should have been episodes 7-9. But at least we are getting some greatness again finally with this show.

Hera grew up amongst war she was raised my her father in the war on ryloth her entire life and as some as that we l war ended the new one began. It is how she was raised. Your may mom at it as her being a bad mom given how long ryloth has been at war it's just the twi'lek way at this point. It's for she was raised and in essence it's how Sabine and Ezra were raised. People see young ahsoka now and talk about how she was a child soldier but Ezra was 14 when he joined the ghost crew that's only a little bit older than jacen. Sabine herself was probably about the same same or maybe even younger as she implied that Hera and kanan "raised her right" so it's not even something new for hers to do we literally watched 4 sessions of rebels as she did the same thing

Wait, so you would wanted them to recast young Ahsoka again just for that one scene?? The actress is 16 in real life and Ahsoka was 17 for the Siege of Mandalore? She's supposed to be young and I think the casting was perfect and the actress did an amazing job. It would have been awkward to have a 3rd actress that would have certainly looked much different. It wouldn't have looked right.
And geez, for one of the best if not the best Star Wars content since George Lucas was in charge you sure are critical and negative (even though you try to be positive while contradicting yourself?). Couldn't even finish this one.

2:54 the actor playing Vader and Anakin did poorly in the first episodes
His return in Ashoka is okay not great acting but better than before
