    Hi Wozza
    I was definitely bottoming out my stock rear shock but I weigh 105kgs, I got a Nitron shock built for my weight, fairly easy to install and it has transformed the bike, I would recommend for heavier riders, the front is fairly heavily sprung standard so I have left it for the time being.

      @WozzasSportsCruiserRides  6 років тому +2

      Matt Hegarty In the video Chris Jones talks about the rear shock will need to be upgraded at around 130kg. Mate, you should still get it tuned to you riding style. This guy makes a living getting racebikes over the winners line with his performance race suspension custom made by him. The tune up is to help mugs like me get a better handling road bike. Amazing stuff. Best bang for buck upgrade a person can do to there balls and all ride.

    I am scared to death of adjusting suspension and so for the first 1000 miles I did nothing with my 2023 MT-10 I simply suffered through the brutally harsh suspension. Finally I was reading a couple of posts claiming if you weigh 160ish llbs (73kg) you woud have to remove ALL the preload on forks and still be short on sag (failed to say if with or without GEAR!) well I in fact Iweigh 165 (75kg) but then over 20 llbs (9kg) of gear so 85kg ish my riding weight , It is hard to do at all alone but I determined yeah there was almost no sag in front so I started cranking back the prelad until I can at least FEEL some sag ...so now it has only two turns of preload in the frint and then to try and balance things I backed off two full turns om the rear shock collars. I also had previously backed off one click front and rear on the rebound after watching a video attempting t show how manually compressed and released suspensin looked with too much rebund okay I test rode and it is soooo much more plush to ride! (btw I only ride the twisties I have another bike for touring so this testig is ALL twists and turns at a goodly clip) I mean I was giving it everything I could as I am wary after making significant changes but it SEEMS like I improved things maybe even for fast pace. The latest thing I notice though doing the push down test it seems like the rear compresses much more readil than the front meaning it appears unbalanced as to preload....idk whether to crank mre preload back into the rear? Or take the last tw remaining turns out from the forks? The forks seem to have a lot of internal friction so I dont know if what I am seeing is real or from that? Like maybe the forks just need to "break in" in more? How long should it take to break in new bike's forks? Oh the last thing I will say is I put a tie wrap on my fork leg and I am using all the travel save for slightly less than an inch? Maybe 23mm for you metric types. Anyone else here have the 22+ MT10 that can corroborate any of my findings? BTW if it turned out I am just barely too heavy for these springs I know what I would do BEFORE paying for new springs! Yep new lithium battery and a Graves exhast would drop close to 20llbs (9kg) which would take me down to 165llbs (5kg) total with gear weight (man leathers boots helmet and gloves are HEAVY!)

    Wozza you legend! No reviewer EVER tells people this stuff. It gets on my t*ts when people/reviewers take a stock bike in its showroom trim and potentially destroy it because they dont like the suspension its nuts, its like reviewing a toasters ability to make toast based on the settings it had coming out of the box rather than what u prefer lol. The guy that did my suspension said the mt10 has the same problem as alot of other bikes with perfectly good setups... its not Ohlins, he reckoned if you took a bike with ohlins and set it up like a dog alot of people would still say it was better based on the brand sticker on the legs. Im not saying Ohlins is bad... of course not just wish people would remember that kyb (on the mt10), Showa, WP etc etc is also good kit and is also used by loads of race teams just like Ohlins :).

      C RT This is right. R1 suspension on a MT-10 doesn't need replacing rather it needs tuning. I was getting sick of the criticism directed at the base model bike and just couldn't get my head around it. So through all this I have a MT-10 that's even better for such a meager outlay. You would think when you purchase a bike through a shop there was a suspension tuner in house. Even if it's extra money, well worth it.

      I understand what your saying. I think what he was saying is there great for the road but no one racing with them. Check out his site. He custom makes winning suspension for raceteams. Highly respected and his work speaks through the racers that win and swear by the suspension he created.
      So when a team wants to race a R1 yamaha, one of the first things to go is the SP1 suspension.
      Most of us mortals would be very happy with SP suspension including me and I personally was amazed how much of a improvement it made on my stock setup.
      Old mate also said the SP setup needs tuning as well.
      Trust me, it's the best $50 you will spend, whatever bike you run with. Thanks for the feedback. Glad it helps.

    Hi wozza , I have the same bike loved the suspension tune vid. I would like to know what you thought of the tuned bike. Was it better or nicer to ride. I don’t ride on the track but love to go hard though the hills

      The best $50 you will ever spend. Everything he said in the video about how my bike would have handled is exactly how it was. It was hard to turn in, I just didn't know. I did lakeside again, it was easier at turning in and better overall. The guy does race bikes. I traveled from Sunshine coast to Rochdale. Worth it.

      It's absolutely worth setting up your bike to the way you want to ride it. If the standard suspension can be tuned to your weight that's a minimal expense, 'Bang for buck'. I've done exactly the same to my current 2009 FZ1, Dialed. There are video's on both bikes discussing the changes after the tune. The best thing you can do is set your ride up. Tuned suspension can save your life. Thanks David, Cheers, Wozza.

      Bill Dawson Mate, I can't believe how much better it is.
      Turns in easier, doesn't steer wide out of the corners, I just thought it was me and the tyres.
      At the same track (lakeside) i've done two day rides. The suspension really made the bike that much better on road and track.

  • @adriantompson
    @adriantompson 6 років тому +1

    nothing wrong with mt10sp suspension setting sag is good if you ride one up but setting sag when you ride fast two up is not a good thing to do . im lucky with sp as its a flick of a switch to go from very firm to not so firm . like the tuner says you set your sus for every track. you would be setting it up for every road you ride. oilins is brilliant on road. if your bike isnt turning try different tyres first as stock tyres on mt10 are slow turning in. if you put braided hoses on you would have to firm front up to stop bike diveing when you hit brakes, if you dont no what your doing you can fuck it wright up good job you got a pro setting it up. differnt people like there bikes set up to suit there style of riding . the tuner just gave you a base setting with the sag set wright for you on your own.

    • @WozzasSportsCruiserRides
      @WozzasSportsCruiserRides  6 років тому

      adrian tompson The tuning said there's nothing wrong with them for the road.
      Your settings do everything except sag in front and rear. Has the SP got a bigger rear spring than standard because it doesn't both bikes are rated at the same weight.
      He also said that professional races remove the sp suspension for racing because Dymamic isn't up for the job.
      The standard isn't either so why would me personally waste 3k or 4k on a SP.
      The dash is beautiful, the suspension still needs upgrading to race and so does the brakes. These bikes are more than most people can handle so in my opinion the extra money isn't going to make the riding faster, tuning your suspension is going to give you the best out of your bike including having to set sag for the front and rear on your SP. This has to be done by a tuner. Not my words but the words of a professional that does it for a living. He said off camera that he has tuned plenty of SP-10s. Set the Dynamic suspension to race, Tune suspension for sag, then change it back for highway use including sag front and rear.
      I found this video very good for real information about our bikes, I hope you have as well. Cheers.

      adrian tompson Yes, I also meant to said the Dynamic suspension on the road would be good. This is just an educational video because I felt the Standard MT-10 was coping alot of criticism. So I new I needed to seek a professional with a proven track record. There are people that save and just able to afford the standard MT-10. The R1 suspension is very good in the standard MT-10 and should receive the proper information and facts on these amazing bike. You would now yourself doing video our job is to give people information of places, facts, people etc. I felt there was too much criticism of the standard modile. That's all. You will find 20000klms al mew bikes just start to run in so I was a little surprised at your comment. Cheers to you, ride safe.

      my criiticism is why do people run down ohlins i put a vid ohlins does work ebc pads because people were saying it was crap to soft. i know he didnt ride a bike fast because what they said about it. stock sus is very good on the standerd mt10 ive never herd any one complain about it and i know one or two nutters. as for sp its only 10 pounds a month more on the pcp deal as you get a lot more on the sp it was well worth it.was only winding you up about your bike been old was only pulling your leg . you probly spent a lot more on it with all the mods you put on it. people say mt10 are slow there full of shit. ive got respect for people that use the 10 and not complain about such a capable bike. the bigust change ive made is tyres and they dont cost nothing if your tyres are bold

    I agree with the suspension bloke about the sag, but to say that the active suspension is a gimmick because racers don’t use it is missing the point, I have the MT10 SP and with a touch of the screen I can tighten the suspension for a Trackday and on the ride home go back to a more comfortable ride. And I don’t see worldsupebikes using MT10’s in any case. So a pointless comparison.

    • @WozzasSportsCruiserRides
      @WozzasSportsCruiserRides  4 роки тому

      Yes, I've had a few people say that. I guess his talking from his racing setup back ground. His Son is doing very well with Chris doing his Custom Racing Suspension and I've seen his posts around the world setting up his sons bike. He is very good at it and I'm sure he might have not said anything if he felt it might have upset people. Or maybe he still would, quite old school. Thanks Tony, I did the FZ1 as well with him and made a huge difference. The SP you would be very happy with.

  • @Yamaprilia

    Mate you are incorrect.
    The mt10 does NOT have r1 suspension.
    They are the same make but r1 has differnt internals in the front. Different part numbers and alot different price. Plus the rear shock is differnt. The r1 is better and has adjustable height too.
    As a guide the r1 suspension is under damped, my suspension is maxed out on the front to get the required damping needed.
    So im expecting the mt10 to be even more under damped and softer
