    I did my 9 month program. Got my certification pass all my exams top of my class and I’m in externship rn but the pay she starting me at is a no no. I made more working at a car wash. And she said for me to get car wash money working as a MCB is if I have 5yrs of experience in the field. And I’m so frustrated. I spent so much money and time in school and 10k in debt to get paid sooo little.

    I got my CPC-A in November and am frustrated by the job market. I am part of a few coding groups and know that I am not alone. I have had 2 interviews and I thought they both went well, however, I never heard back from either of them. I did send a follow-up email to both. I did have my resume done by Project Resume. My best chances are going to be local because I have to work from home. I have done research through the internet and from your videos. I am most interested in regular coding and credentialing, any advice on making myself more employable would be very helpful.

      That's a great move! Working in sterile processing will give you valuable insight into surgical procedures, which is incredibly beneficial for understanding the clinical aspects of medical coding. Every bit of experience in the healthcare field adds up and will serve you well in the future. Keep learning and growing, and when the time is right, you'll be even more prepared for a role in coding/billing. Best of luck!

    Hi Victoria, I recently passed my CPC exam this month🎉 I’m truly excited to venture into the coding world but even the entry level jobs want experience. What are other jobs that I can look for that employers would consider experience? I have over 15yrs in the medical field as a surgical tech & sterile processing tech as well. Also i love your content! I believe you truly helped me passed my exam on the first try! Thank you for all you do for our community! I also got my resume revamped by Marissa who is phenomenal! Any insight or direction truly appreciated 🙏🏽❤️

      Congratulations on passing your CPC exam! With 15+ years in the medical field, consider positions like medical records clerk, billing specialist, or documentation specialist as they often value clinical experience and can bridge into coding roles. It's great to hear the content and your revamped resume are helping. Keep leveraging your diverse background, and the right opportunity will come along. Best of luck!

    Victoria, I hope you can provide some much need advice or guidance to my situation. I don't think Preppy's Certified Billing and Coding Program was around back when I was looking to becoming a coder. I actually went through an AAPC Certified Billing and Coding Online Program, took the AAPC's exams and I became Certified (about 1 1/2 years ago). I REALLY WISH I could have had the opportunity to get some ON-THE-JOB EXPERIENCE (like Preppy offers with their program) to gain some some experience & confidence before looking for a job in this field. MY QUESTION TO YOU-- How can I go about getting this experience? Is it possible? What advice can your offer. As you can see I have had my Certification through AAPC for almost 2 years and have not found a job yet. I hope you can offer possible suggestions to remedy my frustration. Does Preppy offer an EXTERNSHIP ONLY for those that have their AAPC Certifications in Billing and Coding?

    Hi, Im from the Philippines, and Im interested in medical coding. How can I become a certified coder? Tnx

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  9 місяців тому +2

      To become a certified medical coder from the Philippines, start by learning the basics of medical terminology and coding through online courses or local programs. Then, choose a recognized certification like AAPC's CPC, which offers international options. Study diligently using available online resources, register for the exam, and after passing, maintain your certification with continuing education. Check out AAPC and AHIMA for specific details for international candidates and connect with local professionals for more personalized advice. Best of luck on your coding journey!

    Should we apply for the jobs that say inpatient if they don’t mention PCS in the description or avoid those and just stick to outpatient?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  9 місяців тому +2

      Check what credentials they're looking for. If you have a CPC and it says inpatient and they want the CCS, it's probably not the right fit.

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  9 місяців тому +3

      Generally, it's best to include up to 10 years of relevant work history on your resume, especially if it keeps it to one page. Focus on the experience that's most pertinent to the job you're applying for. If older positions are crucially relevant, consider a brief mention. Remember, clarity and relevance are key!

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  9 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for reaching out with your questions about medical coding jobs in the U.S.! The truth is, it really depends on the employer. I don't have details on who's hiring for what positions, especially internationally. It's also important to consider the need for a work visa when applying for jobs in the U.S. from another country. Because the CRC is based on the U.S. healthcare system, it will likely only be valid for jobs coding U.S. records. Keep in mind, the salary might differ from that of a U.S.-based coder, as one of the main reasons for offshoring jobs is often cost savings. Best of luck on your journey.

    when coding how do u know if the doctors office is doing fraud charges when u r working from home

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  9 місяців тому +1

      When working from home, spotting fraudulent charges involves being vigilant and understanding coding and billing guidelines. If you notice inconsistencies, overuse of high-level codes, or services billed that don't match patient records, these could be red flags. Always adhere to coding ethics, and if something seems off, report it through the appropriate channels in your organization. Remember, as a coder, you're an important part of ensuring accuracy and integrity in billing.

      In the USA, consider the CPC (Certified Professional Coder) from AAPC or the CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) from AHIMA. For Australia, check the HIMAA (Health Information Management Association of Australia) for recognized certifications. Each country has its own preferred qualifications, so research the specific requirements where you wish to work. Don't forget to consider visa and work permit regulations too.
