    That is so brilliantly explained, thank you. I've been stuggling with the variation in feel/ease of snappy separation of notes at the light end of bow, I think the concepts you explained will really help my staccato practice. Glad to be a new subscriber :)

    i like your philosophy:"if you can t manage to make your bow jump properly,then jump to something else...";it s true,that us,violonist,"staccatist" do make a pride to be successfull at it.
    very nice and complete explainations anyway;

      @@Kless101 I wonder if those are good. We're warned not to eat raw ones from gulf of Mexico or supposedly any raw are a risk?

    IMPORTANT: remember to stay RELAXED it’s very easy to get tense, it doesn’t help your staccato it sounds worse and you will hurt yourself

    Greetings sir,
    I hope I find you well and in amiable spirits.
    May I ask, do you know the Heifetz bow hold? If so, what are your thoughts and perceptions on this legendary bow hold? Do you know how to do it by any chance?

    • @Kless101

      The answer is complicated and simple in the same time. As all violinists, I was raised on Heifet's ability and mythology (I even once had to play on stage after him... Ie, his videos on the screen.... Real nightmare stuff. :-)
      Like everyone, I tried to emulate his hold, stance etc, but grew out of it. Heifet's stance it hold are not his "secret" or bestowed any special advantages, ot is a russian school hold with perhaps a bjt of a personal twist here and there. His stance is very stiff and I was told by Maestro Ricci that later in life they "shared a chiropractor" ....
