The transmission cooling line on this Jeep Cherokee was fairly simple to replace. It's just a matter of removing the line from the radiator and transmission, then replacing with the new transmission line. You'll need to attach new fittings on the line, or you can try to reuse the ones you have, but you run the risk of developing a leak again. Be sure to have your drip pan ready, because you will lose some transmission fluid when you disconnect the line from the transmission. To minimize the transmission fluid loss, we plugged it with a rubber stopper. This actually worked fairly well.
When you're all done, be sure to check your transmission fluid level and replace the fluid you lost.

What’s the part numbers for the fittings? I can’t find them
Where can I get the rubber plugs? Or do you have any other ideas what I can stick in there to keep the fluid from coming out? TIA.
I watch your Youtub I didn't see ent plastic clamps on the end of line wher you connected the two line's it comes with plastic fittings I just replaced my transmission upper line I replaced the old plastic clips and I still have a slite drip when I turn the car on , my question is do thay make special plastic clips for the transmission line I only find the regular clips in the packaging comes 6 of them.
Hello,
Im working on this exzact jeep and having trouble with the line right there at the end where the disconnect goes into the trans. Anyway I was at autozone and it says this number wont work ,or part wont fit my jeep grand cherokee 1995..But its obvious it must..There saying use 624-307..So my next question is which part number is for the the opposite line to this one?
Thanks for any info!
B.
anyone know how to fix the transmission cooling lines leaking at the quick connect we just replaced them and they are brand new but must have done something wrong as they are leaking at the connect
Question how did you get the old line out between the exhaust and motor
Can anyone tell me how to fix the line that's up behind the transmission pan
what size wrench to get lines off!
After learning about the transmission lines, you actually replaced the transmission line, the cooling line is installed at the radiator on my jeep.
Describing the size of the rubber stopper would be a lot of help. If I have several plugs & trying to decide which will fit, fluid will be flowing until I figure it out.
I have a jeep patriot 2013 and I'm trying to do the same repair the connection on the end side of the radiator has a rubber hose and it has a clamp over the end of it which the rest of the line is metal I'm not sure if the end where the rubber part of the hose has to be removed or replace with a new one or the whole line has to be replaced. But it's leaking air pressure by the radiator and it has lost some transmission fluid. Not a serious amount to be concerned with.. I'd like to do the repair myself but it's a more modern compact jeep and I like to do the repair myself. I was wondering if you can help me out and walk me through what I have to do.
I need the other side that needs a tool with plastic clip on radiator.. the plastic clip in there won't let me use tool I'm working on 97 Grand with 4.0
Here's a hint for your Jeep. Buy a quick disconnect for the transmission line. And get a crowsfoot wrench to get the power steering lines loose. It will save a lot time and and no knuckles will be busted
Just did this with zj. That “trumpet” end feels a bit loose even after I pressed and clicked it in. Fingers crossed.
You are very helpful! Your videos are so much better quality and better explaining step-by-step then all the other ones I see on UA-cam! Thank you so much!!! I hope your videos help other people! Thank You!
Thank you for the kind words!
Great video and tough to film in the those tight spaces. Enjoyed the intro!
I just picked up.my 98 jeep cherokee and noticed the transmission fluid is completely empty, should i replace the trans pan gasket or the trans cooler lines, I cant pin point which parts leaking
I assume you got it fixed by now but fill it up with some cheap stuff and shift in and out of neutral reverse and drive to get the gears soaked once it starts warming up it should start dumping from the line my hole was right above an exhaust sensor so I had to clean it out with contact cleaner.. made my engine light go off lol.. like I said hopefully you got it fixed by now and you weren't driving it lol.. you wouldn't get very far with no trans fluid anyway
what size of wrench?
soso dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video
Thank you.
can i cut quick fit connector on my 95 at radiator? for quick fix?
You wouldnt be first lol!
I need help! My jeep is leaking oil and antifreeze, the transmission fluid is black as well. We just did a oil change, replaced the filter, and a new gasket for the oil pan, but it is still leaking ALOT of oil, and it is the fresh oil we put in. As for my radiator We cant find where the leak is, but we KNOW there is one because we can see antifreeze everywhere around the lid/cover for the radiator
Stoney ya Blazed Homie possibly a bad rear main seal? That’s what mine has
I KNOW WHERE ITS LEAKING. check where you install the oil filter, you will find that it is a 90 or 45 degree adapter to the engine. some take this off and put on a different sized oil filter. you can buy the gasket for cheap and replace it.
Welcome to the wonderful world of find that leak with the main star JEEP
May as well just get a new radiator. I've never had any luck plugging radiator leaks. $200 bucks and 1-2 hours of work and your good to go.
Really good video! I love the quality! Nice job, keep it up! :)
Thank you ;)
Hmm
What are some hints to get the quick connect fitting loose from my 1993 Grand Cherokee?
I have tried to press the tool in with a big open end wrench. I can not get it to budge. I even, hit it with blaster lube!
Help!!
Sorry, not sure why it's not releasing. Sounds like you're doing it right.
Mine is a QUICK RELEASE. 6 months, STILL NOT DISCONNECTED!
You need a quick disconnect tool. It cost 8 dollars at AutoZone. Some will say it's for fuel lines but it all works the same
there is a clip just inside the fitting that you have to remove it's open on one end you'll have to pop it off with a screwdriver you won't be able to get it off if you don't remove that little clip
Is this similar to the xj transmission lines?
XJ lines the top on your un thread out. The bottom one houses a quick release take have to squeeze push up and pull out
Nice video! Thanks for featuring my music :D
Thank you and you're welcome! Your music is great! It's the perfect sound for my videos. I'll be watching for more.
If it is this easy then why do shops charge around $300 for the services? This is the average price. Please advise before I try this myself. Thank you!
+K Victor Mc This was a simple transmission cooling line replacement. Cooling line was leaking. Swapped it out no problem. Easy fix!
Unfortunately, we paid already. Really wish we would have watched this first! Any videos on how to replace the water pump?
Yeah, there's a lot of simple repairs you can do yourself and save a ton of $$. Maybe next time. Sorry, no water pump video yet, but maybe soon....?
because most shops are a rip off. always watch youtube first, things are as hard as shops act like, especially on the older jeeps
Year and model of Jeep in the title would be helpful.
You're the hero Gotham needs. I'd follow you into battle. Or to the shop. Or just on Twitter. Up to you.
I will not lead you astray ;)
What size wrench did you use on the line connected to the trans?
18
That looked so easy. Where I live in the Canadian north, the roads are coated with brine for the winter. That mixed with salt absolutely destroys vehicles, so any clean job is none existant...rust rust and more rust everywhere!
Thanks for not Showing how to put in the plastic line clip into the line. I watched this video just so that I can play the guessing game on how to put the transmission cooler line in step by step...
Add description!!!!
can some one tell me how to disconnect the a/c condenser lines
Quick disconnect tool
only if it were as quick as the video eh Dale lol. good vid though man
Yeah, definitely has some jigsaw puzzle moments. Haha
What I hate about these videos is how freaking clean other people's stuff is around the country.. I live in rust belt.. jobs that should take 5 minutes are always an hour
BiffTannen2015 oh I get it man... between dealing with rust from the salt in winter to PO’s not taking care of the vehicle prior to us getting them it can be frustrating
need help tranmission
stalls go in reverse96 cherokee
by far one of the worst mechanic diy’s on youtube. so many extra bits you left out. don’t cut corners
Worst on UA-cam? That's kinda harsh. What extra bits were left out? What corners cut?
@@JeepSolid no word as to what size the fittings come off with, even after multiple people asked. didn’t see you take the line out of any of its mounts and you literally showed you putting the radiator side fitting back on.
This was just a quick video of the process. Not including a wrench size or showing a self explanatory mounting strap hardly makes it the worst, but thanks for your feedback
One of the worst? gosh that's a bit harsh. I love JeepSolid's videos, they really helped me with some projects. I mean I do love it when videos say the size wrench you'll need, but if not, try a 22mm if that's too big try a 21, and repeat until it fits lol. For my 98 XJ same project its a 22mm for replacing the quick connect that connects to the trans and an 18mm that connects to my radiator. I will highly recommend replacing the quick connect that threads into the transmission, trying to put the part back together and trust the old rubber inside to keep a seal doesn't seem worth the $10. Doorman sells them under part # 800-714 for my XJ, I think its the same part for a ZJ but check your local parts store for fit.
Nice. Thanx for posting 👍🙂🐻
