I couldn't figure why a dump truck was used until I saw how far to the field you were going. I remember just using a manure spreader when I worked on my grandfather's farm, we didn't have far to go to the field it was used on. We disc the fields in the fall and spread manure for the pasture and hay fields every couple of years, we plowed in the fall for the row crop fields for next year's crops and sometimes used a cover crop.
