cheers Tom, i have done mine the cheap old school way without removing the fuel tank, didnt remove the sas plates on the engine as the 2 hoses from the engine head form a T, i just blocked the hose going to the airbox, similar to the old marble mods of old. the EPC was simle to reach too but removing the hoses from both carbs/airbox was a little tricky and blocking off the front airbox hole was a challenge but hey, all done now, what i realised was the SAS Solenoid has a nipple as you say connects to the rear cylinder Vacuum port, my hose was dissconnected and with the epc removal a huge difference, Thanks for the videos,
Been a bit since I did this and don't recall exactly on this model, but usually vacuum hoses coming off for emissions removal need to be blocked so they aren't causing a vacuum leak. Open ports would just suck air into the intake, making the bike run lean. Hopefully that helps.
The benefits are less hoses and parts to deal with when working on the motorcycle. Also sometimes if the motorcycle tips over, the charcoal canister fills with fuel and causes running issues.
This doesn’t really do anything for performance, it removes complexity and reduces things that can fail. Makes it easier to work on the next time. Maybe a very slight weight reduction.
@@cromwellsports9868 I try my best to get ahead of these things! 😂😂. I might be doing some carb jetting on this bike soon, will see if I can get an oil change done as well.

Thanks for the videos,
I have done a few bikes that way too, it works fine. Thanks for watching.
Really good job 👏 great idea less shits great vedeo and great explanation 👍 cheers from Norway
Thank you, appreciate the support!
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures you have my vote on that idea 👏👏👌👍 and you got a new subscriber 👍 cheers from Norway 🇳🇴 👍 😀

Thanks, hope it was helpful.
OMG your becoming a true utuber definitely never though id say that hahaha
Anyone can do it.
That was helpful 🙏🏾
Very glad to hear that, ride safely.
Might be a stupid question but why do the vacuum hoses by the intake need to be blocked?
Kind regards Dennis

Did you notice any performance difference?

This one is on the menu when I do the 18K service. I need some fancy electronic do dads to plug into mine after this stuff is removed.
Yep, a “dongle” or whatever it’s called. Otherwise you’re gonna have to put a piece of tape over the check engine light.
Yo tengo una 990 2011 azul y huele a gasolina por los escapes , ayuda
I used translate, you have fuel vapors? Have you done the emissions removal already?
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures no se como hacerlo y no encuentro el traductor youtube
@@eladioriverarojas4272 I have a translator app, seems to be working well. This video covers most of the process of removing the emissions equipment.
Wow this would have been so helpful 8 months ago
Ahh, sorry! You should have asked! 😂😂
Haha. If I only wouldd have known. Perhaps you can video an easy way to do oil changes on these things.

@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures they are great bikes. I do hate taking off all the panels to do easy stuff though
@@cromwellsports9868 I owned one briefly , was afraid of losing my license. Yes, bikes with fairings are always a bit more work for maintenance.
Did this guy just block off the crank case vents? WTF
No, not the crankcase vents. It’s an emission system, companies sell kits specifically for this.
