The fact that they did this coverage from makeshift studios at home because of the pandemic?! Truly remarkable!

I was work at Lowe’s in jasper in that direct path and from what I experience there was little damage in town at least at the park and outer areas of jasper

I thought they did a fine and important job warning the people in their area about this storm, telling them what to do and giving updated info on where the storm was moving. Apparently this was all coordinated from their homes because of the virus, an impressive accomplishment.
From later reports of this incredible supercell, it eventually travelled about 300 miles before dissipating near the Mississippi border, dropping a series of tornadoes as it moved and cycled. Its path over Jasper did cause some damage, but it was much less than they feared because it happened that the storm was apparently cycling at that time and there was not a strong tornado on the ground as it passed through. The station's storm expert could not have known this because he only had radar images from far above the ground, where the mesocyclone rotation remained robust. The hook echo was strong but the storm was in between consecutive major tornadoes. This was a very good outcome for Jasper, which might have been leveled by a strong wedge tornado with that path.

I grew up in Jasper and I was horrified as this thing traveled due east toward and past town. Like you said, they were very lucky. Like they said, tornadoes like this are very rare in that part of Texas. They rarely see anything over EF-1 strength.

@@peachxtaehyung Yeah I think that was because they have started to issue those when doppler radar shows a strong enough circulation and this one did.

@@peachxtaehyung I was at my brothers house when this went over, he works at Lowe's. He sent me pictures of metal roofing that was twisted, picnic tables that were had a shopping cart wedged in it, a cart wedged under a car. He also said that they had display sheds out front that were gone. Before it hit he was trying to get the carts in and said he was struggling to make it back into the store from the suction. While at his house, about 15 minutes from Lowe's, where i was, the walls were shaking from the winds and i could hear roaring and there were power surges.
