Seeing Gail here, it's really tragic how the show has turned her into this clown character since the 2010s. Wish I'd been alive to watch the show in the 70s and 80s.
i loved watching coronation street in late 70 to early 90s stan and hilda were def 2 of the best characters ive emailed itv few times to c if theyd repeat the show but no cant c why they cant
They brought in Vera Duckworth, but it just wasn't the same. Jean Alexander was, ironically, unique in that she represented a type. Hilda's type goes back right through the centuries in literature and stage as well as the reality from which they were taken, from MIstress Quickly in Shakespeare to Sheridan's Mrs Malaprop.
10.11 stan fluffed his lines whilst saying 'anonymous admirer' and you can see him smile. That probably only took 3 or 4 takes it was minor so they left it in. There were lots of little fluffs left in Elsie tanner was the worst. Today they'd retake all day long until it was perfect delivery of the script, that's what has turned it sterile and taken so much charm away from it
love the way the copper rolls up his sleeve@7:54 to put his arm through a broken window....must be an ex vet playin the part....then again its gotta be a real cop
Aw don't actually like this program at all but this reminds me of being quite young and suffering through CS. It was a simpler time before mobile phones and stuff. I love tech but no so much of the PC, braindead Kardashian world we have now....
RIP dearest Jean. You were my favourite character on Corrie. Wonderful actress
An absolute legend.a word too freely used these days.
this is hilarious! what depth of character those two actors gave their parts as Stan & Hilda. priceless.
Happy birthday Hilda
A true icon she was coronation street it was never the same without her
So much better than today's show.
No comparison. The 80s imo the best decade yet.
The ludicrous stephen story
One million times better ⭐📀🏆
@@anthonypoole6417 1970s best decade ( in my opinion )

R.I.P. Jean/Hilda.
2:57 I thought i was seeing two Ritas!
cant believe how easy it was to break windows in the 70s/80s 😂😂
Hilda was Fantastic on Coronation Street *
I've got a very similar mirror, and three flying ducks on my wall! Think it must be cos I grew up on this.
So Gail’s ‘present’ was something SHE liked so she could take it back if Hilda didn’t want it.😂😂
In fairness to Stan, that’s the only door I’ve seen automatically lock when closed.

hmm what year is this?! well Elsie and Gail are both in it so it can't be any earlier than 1976. I reckon 77-78 is about right
Gail began in 74 but I know that Elsie had a short break, so I reckon you're right with 77
"Fat lump" lol
Very Funny
Love a leg of lamb.lol
😂😂😂👍 poor Hilda Ogden😢
Hilda Ogden was Corrie not now Corrie is crap Rip Vida Ogden😢😢
A leg of lamb is STILL like eating gold!
When the storylines were simple & honest! Not the corrie of today! All sex & terrible violence! 😢 RIP Hilda & her chuck Stan xx❤
Who the other red headed lady, standing next to Rita?
Elsie Tanner...she and Rita look like sisters
Jim Davis And ironically, Rita is now Rita Tanner, having been married to Elsie's son, Dennis!
Hilda was more famous than the Queen in fact they should of made her Queen Hilda
no muriel though...
Wow wasnt gail pretty
Yes, I hear she’s the prettiest girl back on her home planet.
And to think she has to be Hilda's age now.
Joseph and 😀 Today TV
Ive overcooked a leg of lamb by 30 minutes - no big deal still a tasty meat just a bit overdone on top
This Gilda always looks old for her age.
When coronation Street was easy to watch ......& Not full of gays for pc reasons
