I'd read the bridge across Woods Creek was closed but it appears that you crossed it? Huge respect for you and the other hikers. I've done the JMT section in big snow years but nothing like what you're encountering this year! I'm in awe. Thanks for the videos!
Wow just wow!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy this year. We hiked the PCT in 2010 which was a good snow year too, but this is just out of the world. The river crossings have been bad enough in 2010, it must be crazy this year. Stay safe and good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My estimate: you may have some 20 miles of snow or less. Did the same in 2019 (high snow, but not like this year) starting July 30th, and had about 3 miles of snow. - This footage may be from late May / early June.
Great vid. I left Kennedy meadows last year on May 3rd. I am blown away by how much snow is stillthere almost two months after i went through the same area. And am I seeing this correctly? is there a hiker in your tramily going through all that with poles or an ice axe?
In your estimation walking on the PCT/JM trail how deep do you feel the snow is. I have a friend that is turning 50 and she wants to do that John Muir trail ,never has hiked in her life and a novice to hiking ,do you recommend it .She'll be hiking in the end of August, in your opinion is it safe. Happy trails.
Every PCT hiker I’ve talked to that braved the Sierras said they started hiking no later than 3 am because postholing was really bad by 10-11 am some spots were thigh deep.
Hazzarding a guess that you are filming with a helmet cam and that it is a new skillset for you so if i may offer a suggestion: the lens’ angle of acceptance is narrower than the the field of view of our eyes, so scanning panoramas has to be a slower gesture to allow the landscape to register visually via the mediation of the tec. Also lift your chin a bit higher. You are cutting off the tops of all the peaks and nearby formations. We are all in too much hurry now times and what it achieves for us is a lot of effort expended to actually go and be Nowhere. Slow down a bit and nowhere immediately becomes now here. That said, great initiative getting out there in the conditions. Makes me want to drop everything and chase up there after you. Insum, welldone.

Pretty amazing. Stay safe. This is the first video I've seen of yours, appreciate no music 😎
Completely different world from the times I’ve been up there. The snow this year is incredible. Good job doing the Sierras this year.
Dang, you are incredible. Thanks for posting.
Your camera work and videos are incredible!!❤ Thank you for sharing. Please stay safe out there!
Excellent video!!!
Serious ground in those conditions .. well done and take it thoughtful and steady
SO QUIET OUT LOVE THE VIDEO
Going over those passes and the Golden Staircase in normal season was a challenge, I can't imagine with that snow.
Riveting! What an epic accomplishment!
With your editing you make it look easy. I know it’s not. So spectacular.
It's a hard no for me but it's spectacular to see your amazing footage! 💪
Love it!! Doing JMT north bound starting the 28th of July… very curious to see the condition difference. When was this?

Even AI couldn't duplicate that scenery. Spectacular.
The only thing about hiking with big snow years in the sierras is, you don’t see all the beauty of the lakes and greenery.

End of August the trail will be safe. Maybe a few patches of snow here and there. I cannot speak about her capability and preparation.
You're very brave.
Brad what month or date did you hike this in?
Is the snow surface solid or do you have to deal with a lot of post holing?

Seems folks have forgotten, or they wouldn't be so bold--marmont makes a decent diner for two.

Please pan slower, it’s just one fast pan after another which makes it’s hard to actually see anything not to mention making us motion suck thank you
