I was uphill watching this scene being shot, afterwards Christopher and jane came over and spoke to the small group i was in,the most beautiful movie ever made, HANDS DOWN
🥰😥 The aspiring novelist in me can see--and yes, FEEL palpably!--the unparalleled in- tensity of the love beyond all loves of these two stupendously wondrous character-actor pairings in this tale, whose bliss soars above what for some was a sappy, maudlin tear-jerker. I so deeply cherished Mr. Reeve both for his range and eclecticism, and also for the unparalleled tenderness and deep vulnerability of many of his performances, with which I so strongly identified. This one here was the apotheosis of his oeuvre. Another element in all this-- the heart-tugging story, the exquisitely poignant music, the two leads masterfully cast, and Susan French as the elderly Elise McKenna set in 1972--is the real-life love affair and tragedy of Chris and Dana Reeve, from the horse riding accident to his slow decline into death, then the gut-wrenching shock of her sudden (to me) passing.
@@sandyjuntunen4088he and Jane Seymour *were* involved, during filming. Him and Gae Exton had broken up by that point, but he ended things with Jane once he heard Gae was pregnant (son born 1979). He didn’t meet his wife til 1987.
This was definitely Reeves’ best work. I was still pretty young when it came out, but it is sure one of the most epic love stories in my lifetime. Jane Seymour also made an amazing mark in this film. Such a beautiful, elegant actress and still is today. RIP Chris Reeves.
Very touching scene to me- I am awaiting the reunion of my deepest and most endearing love I have ever known. Her name was Kerry O’Neil and she left the Earth on 12/1/1993 and I will wait for her for eternity if it takes that long. I love her with all my heart, mind, soul, and her whole past, present, and future. May God bring us together as soon as it is possible.
Adam, I know exactly what you mean. I lost my husband 7-2016, the love of my life, and I would wait for my love that long. I pray we both get our deepest wish and see them again one glorious day.
You’ll be surprised. Our loved ones at the other side of life are outside of time. One lifetime for us may be only a few minutes for them. They wont have long to wait. But we do.
Wow. Normally I don’t cry during movies but something about this movie, and this scene in particular, definitely made me cry. This probably had to be one of the most emotionally powerful, romantic fantasy dramas of the 1980s. Jane Seymour was so beautiful in this movie and so talented. Everything about this scene just screams cinematic perfection: the music, the scenery, the way Elise screams his name, how Richard’s face lights up when he sees her, the way they run towards each other and up/down the stairs, how they embrace and kiss each other, etc. Such cinematic and artistic perfection! Definitely an under appreciated film and I would definitely call it a cinematic masterpiece of the 1980s.
@@marksams6251 Straight blasphemy! Richard and Elise knew they were meant to be and never forgot each other. Those other two in The Notebook acted like bitter children to each other through most of their time together.
Such a great scene by both actors....her yell of " Richard !! " touches your heart bc of the desperation of seeing the one you love taken away then seeing that person again when all hope was lost just hits your heart like bolts of lightning. .... Then Richard says " are you alright?......I thought I lost you?... He sounds like a little boy and she sounds like a little girl when she says " never, never, never "..... Like two young kids falling in love for the first time......it's sounds so genuine and that's why its such a great scene. Yea I get teary eyed in this scene..lol
what makes this film so magical and moving is not because just how perfect the music was, but also Jane's acting seem so effortlessly and the chemistry she had with christopher, it's as if they were truly deeply in love , that's what makes this movie so beautiful
As gorgeous and moving as the 2 leading adult actors are in this clip, aren't we all grossly overlooking the performance of the tiny actor in the first scene? The sincere concern in his eyes for the character of Richard makes him look 10 times his age... And makes my own empathy for Richard go up a notch. Little guy couldn't have been more present..
For me, this was the best scene in the movie and also the saddest. The person, who travel through time to be with his love, thought to be lost, was found. Only to lose your love again to time. Beautiful yet heartbreaking.
Beautiful scene which expresses very well how we feel and act when we really love someone and have been forced by circumstances to separate. They way they kiss each other and they way he lifts her off the floor are great to watch.
They say, true love waits, don't know, never experienced love within my life, however, this scene in this movie tells others that if you love someone, really love the girl of your dreams, that true love will always be there forever more, and as a man, your deepest, sincerest obligation is to love the girl of your dreams and care for her, and never stop loving her, being by her side, taking care of her, always.
I hope you do have a profound love experience in your life . ..nothing like it and your memories will last forevermore and sustain you until you share that love once again.
The quality of the Blu-ray is really spectacular and really shows off the wonderful cinematography. It’s a beautiful movie not only in story, but visually as well!
One of my top 3 movies of all time. I start crying when she comes to him in the beginning of the film and gives him the watch and tells him to come back to her.
Crying why no honey I just got something in my eye! This movie really moved me back then but didn't see it until it came to TV. I've always loved it even with the sad ending. I actually live in a 100 year old Victorian home and often ponder while relaxing in bed if I can transport myself to the 1900's when the home was brand new like Richard Collier was doing in the Grand Hotel.
One of the most romantic films of all time.....❤💏🕰🎬🎼 Somewhere In Time. Christopher Reeves & Jane Seymour, they truly made this film moving with their on screen chemistry. When I think of this film a poem by the British poet Alfred Lord Tennyson, published in 1850 comes to mind......I quote " I hold it true, whate'er befall, I feel it when I sorrow most, 'Tis better to have loved and lost. Than never to have loved at all. I truly wish they had made more films like this for the romantics out here!! ❤😊🎻🎬🎼📜✍

He had to instantly know after those first few steps, there wasn't a cape attached on this scene. Thank God they met on a landing. Poor Jane Seymour would of been hit like a downhill frieght train with no brakes
Admittedly, she had to run uphill through the grass before climbing the stairs; besides, he was taller, had a longer stride than she, and her legs were confined by a narrow skirt. That she made it that far in so short a time is a credit to her
To the one whom always came to me in dreams. You moved me then and now. I will always be waiting. You treated with such love. I will always treasure that.
This is the best scene of the film. The cinematography keeping both of them in focus is incredible, plus the slow buildup to her finally noticing him, their run and embrace, the passionate kisses, their chemistry, the music … it’s a truly magical scene. The only flaw is the dialogue; he says “are you alright, I thought I lost you” as if they’d just survived a fire or flood. Sure he thought she’d left town, but why would he ask if she was alright when she’d never been in any danger? If anything she should be asking him if he’s alright, since she knew Robinson did something to him. Their few lines in this scene should’ve been swapped between them; that would’ve made more sense.
I absolutely hated this movie when I was a kid. My mom would play it all the time, but she wouldn't watch it all the way through, she's replay certain scenes over and over again or suddenly rewind or fast forward to scenes. She would play the soundtrack constantly. I was born in 83, I had only ever known Christopher Reeve as Superman as a kid and wasn't interested in him in a romance movie at all (not realizing the romance in the Superman films). In my later years after losing so many of the celebrities that made up the tent poles of the world I knew growing up like Reeve, Robin Williams, Michael Jackson, Mr. Rogers, David Bowie, Tom Petty and so many others, I watched the movie all the way through and seeing Reeve so young and vibrant combined with the tragic circumstances of the love story and the musical score it finally got to me. I wonder what it is about stories without happy endings that affect us the way this one does? Why are we attracted to the sadness they evoke? Was the brief time they had together worth the wasted lifetime she waited? Or the full life he gave up on not being able to get right back to her? It reminds me of Romeo and Juliette or Cleopatra and Mark Antony. I don't like how it eats at me, the ending and the seeming futility of it and I can't say I'm a massive fan but I do appreciate the movie now.
I love this …. I worked there in the summer of 1996 this hotel changed nothing in how it did things nothing at all . this will be my forever start in life as this was my first job washing dishes.
Michigan is a beautiful place. I lived in Holland and around Grand Rapids for a few years. I miss it so much and wish I could live there again. You are blessed.
It is and the way he did it in the film is the closest way to how it actually happens. However; understand that you are not physically traveling anywhere, you are only going there with your mind. Also, you can go to any location you want as well. How do I know? Look up Joseph McMoneagle. He was a remote viewer with Army Intelligence during the 1980's They were time traveling all the time. He even wrote a book on the subject called "The Ultimate Time Machine". Probably can still get it on Amazon.
Thank you, Antonhy Cezar Curtis, for putting this out on UA-cam. I used to think this was just fantasy but the more I know God the more I know that nothing is impossible with Him. I also thought that all He wanted was a relationship with us. However, He DESIGNED woman for man, so since He knows what He's doing I'll trust him. I know Y'Shua said that there would be no marriage in the world to come. I wonder what that implies exactly. I guess we'll know soon enough.

The lad said sure, it is where a man and a woman eat chocolate together. When he was told no, that's not it, he replied that it seems that sex doesn't sound like much fun. 😊
Today 14.06.2024, when I woke up from my sleeping in the afternoon, looking outside at the lonely and shady trees through my windows after watching Somewhere in Time clip, "It has been 20 years Christopher Reeves passed away"suddenly into my mind.
Normally, I'm not the biggest fan of romantic movies, but I do have a soft spot for this one. Maybe it's the beautiful and tragic soundtrack by John Barry; maybe it's Christopher Reeves' (RIP) performance; or maybe the Twilight Zone vibe I sense from this film. Either way, this scene right here is the most heartwarming, perfected by Barry's scoring. P.S. I always find it amazing how Elise knew that was Richard from all the way down the courtyard. She's either got the eyes of a hawk or it's just the power of love at work.
Every time I think I fund love ... it turns out to be unreal ... unlike this love story its beyond words ❤ I wish aisha loved me the way I loved her ... She was everything to me and I thought I was the same to her but she left and deserted me without even saying why . Even though I still love her . And I always will . Why why can't we find true love like this

Today 14.06.2024, when I woke up from my sleeping in the afternoon, looking outside at the lonely and shady trees through my windows after watching Somewhere in Time clip, "It has been 20 years Christopher Reeves passed away"suddenly into my mind.
Why does this hit me so HARD?
Tears coming . . .
When she screams his name 😪😪😪💕
Superman travels back in time to be a time traveller.
I have never seen this film before.
That's one kiss I never forget
Every time I think I fund love ... it turns out to be unreal ... unlike this love story its beyond words ❤
I wish aisha loved me the way I loved her ...
She was everything to me and I thought I was the same to her but she left and deserted me without even saying why .
Even though I still love her . And I always will .
Why why can't we find true love like this
Never never never!!!!!
Like the movie. Thanks Phil for sharing.
He is the most handsome actor ever!!!! God Bless his children❤️❤️🥀🥀🥀🥀..2022.
Oh to be loved like that and love back! ❤
A very sad scene, how he sits down and she runs to him!
Essa cena sempre me tira lágrimas
You know what I just thought. We let them live their love again and again as we watch this movie. Yeah, i know, it's kind of cheesey but felt good.
Come back to me
Un grand moment sublime !!
An all time classic.
I can deal with scenes like this AWSOME
