The second movement of this concerto is pure lyrical genius, the interplay between the Flute and Harp is so very beautiful and illustrates how Mozart was able to begin a seemingly unremarkable phrase and suddenly transform it into something so very exquisite. No words can express such genius.

Imagine this, he heard all this in his head before he put it into paper. What a unique mind he had to be able to imagine something like this and bring it to life.

MOZART is the JOY of music which speaks where words fail! I come to Mozart when my spirits need to be lifted and I need some "sunshine" in my life. His music helps almost as much as my granddaughter's voice on the phone or a visit with her! In my old age, our granddaughter and Mozart are the Joy God gave us to make up for growing old!

This is one of the first pieces of music I ever heard, on a wind-up phonograph when I was 13 years old. At that time I wondered what it might have actually have sounded like. I am now 72. It is wonderful to visit an old friend again.

I love this performance! Especially the harp part @14:14 to 14:25. She's phenomenal. As a flutist for over 30 years, this is what it's like hearing this harpist: you know when you go to a dance and there's that one guy who dances really well and all the girls want to dance with him? Well every flautist wants to play with this harpist 😉
An again, the harpist in the cadenza of the 2nd movement... Breathtaking!!!

When I listen to Mozart’s music, I feel “ Beauty and Simplicity” are being harmoniously melted into like an eternal crystal in my heart ❤
The first time I heard this was that little tiny snippet In Amadeus when Salieri was going through Mozart's music to be considered for a royal position. Just those few seconds and I was so taken with it. Imagine my delight when I finally found the entire concerto! My heart aches with the beauty of it. There's no one as brilliant as Mozart.
Me too!! I wanted my mom to get me the CD when I first heard it seeing the movie as well.

In my high school, our orchestra and band played a concert with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. The conductor said there were only a handful of great men who walked the Earth. Mozart was one of them. I remember that night so well because it was one of the few times my Dad told me he was proud of me

Hard to believe the composer didn't care for either instrument but being such a professional-not to mention a genius-he was more than able to write divinely for both-

Film; photographs, coalition media can be used to convey and cement falsehood. Who wrote; when, was it written, that Mozart 'didn't care' for the flute or the harp? Your opening phrase covers it.

From the moment I took my attention to her, I felt that I was looking at a truly great artist - and an exceptional personality.
"SIMPLICITY": If the leaders of the world could only be. Like musicians who play in a symphony. Their minds together in perfect sync. As they play notes on a scale linked by ink. Each one having their moment to shine. With other musicians as their music entwines. No note to be played tardily. It would interfere with the harmony. And if a note were to be played too soon. It makes the whole symphony sound out of tune. True perfection is what it takes. There is no room for any mistakes. It's what makes playing music together so worthwhile. And when the music fades, they smile. Knowing they've accomplished a job well done. With no complaints. No uncertainties. No disagreements.... None! Oh if only the leaders of the world could see. The beauty, the harmony, the 'simplicity.
The world stops when this music is played.

This is my favourite version of this masterpiece! I used to listen to it when I was eleven years old, and this piece reminded me of the boy I liked at that time. Sometimes I even cried because this music is too beautiful❤️🎶 greetings from Italy🇮🇹

I agree. It's even better than the second movement of his clarinet concerto. I'm more a fan of Beethoven and Bach, but those two concertos are exceptionally fine pieces of music. I find it hard to believe Mozart didn't like the flute or the harp when he could make them sound so good together. Nobody could be that commercial and maintain such subtlety.

This piece from Mozart is one of his mature works which i love as its full of youthfulness and Lyricism. This is amazing as the two Instrument (Flute & Harp) were not his favored. So relaxing and uplifting on a cold wet Autumnal day.
Should be uplifting now when many of us need it the most. So much mourning now for this- the world of my whole life broken off behind me - and from what I hear, many others in the same situation.
I am convinced that this is the piece of music that started my love for classical music from an early age. We used to have a VHR tape with a baby Mozart program on it and this piece was my favourite it was so magical. Listening to it transports me right back in time and it still gives me goosebumps today. I am now studying flute performance and it is my dream to play this one day!!

+Philip Dano At least one of those guys smoked dope before the concert. Throughout, he looks like he's trying to make Curly laugh. At the end, he just can't control himself from blabbing. Made me yearn for the past days of ensemble playing, the camaraderie, the fun, the joy.
+Philip Dano Yeah that was very pleasant to see. The younger one especially seemed to really be enjoying himself, throwing in a splash of vibrato on whim here and there.
It adds a certain amount of distraction to an otherwise delightful piece.
