Hazardous Trees THREATEN I-5 Homeless Encampment

  • Our motto has always been "Helping People One Tree at a Time". In this video we do just that! When Washington Department of Transportation reached out to us about removing some hazard trees from a couple spots along northbound Interstate 5, little did we know it was home to almost a dozen homeless people. Even worse was the fact that some of them were sleeping directly under a tree that had already partially failed and could come down on any of the flimsy tents below. After helping to relocate them to a safer place, we proceeded to take down, not one but 5 hazard trees from offramps, shoulders and medians.
Armed with chainsaws, grapple and bucket trucks, the crew of Seattle Tree Care carefully, cautiously and considerately did their job to protect not just the less fortunate living beneath them but also the unknowing, passerby-travellers that speed along this very busy stretch of highway, a major thoroughfare between Canada and Mexico that spans nearly 277 miles in Washington State that sees nearly 275,000 vehicles every day. You'll hear from Tina, Egon and Chikin Joe, three people, we met, that are living on the streets of Seattle as Peter, Ricky, Arnie, Adam and Keaton help make their lives a little less risky by removing these hazardous trees.

We have endless money to fight on foreign soil, but little money to fight poverty on our own soil. The American government is Godless. I get scolded for giving food to the homeless in my area. Something is seriously wrong with that picture.

Just like the homeless. The trees have no safe space

Did you not see the tree they were living under? Half of it had already fallen to the ground. And they were sleeping directly under it. Its amazing nobody was hurt. Then the other tree right next to I5, on a slope, overgrown with ivy and dead...just waiting to fall on someone driving 60 on the freeway. Both of those trees were an immediate danger to human life. I don't suspect WSDOT frivilously uproots trees just for the heck of it.
