Dear Mr. Bajwa. This maybe the house of my father's neighbour, the Kashyaps. I am checking with his grand-daughter. My grandfather also lived in Model Town and left only when they saw fires. One of the Kashyaps moved to Bangalore after Partition. My Rekhy grandfather's house had several tennis and badminton courts. Unfortunately all of my father's generation are no more.

@@mirzabaig2173 yes, what a great tragedy it was. I wish Jinah new any better. When Nehru talked about ending jageerdaaran nizam , thats the time muslim jageerdaars went to Jinnah that they should have their own homeland. Then religion was used to divide the nation. Those jageerdaar elites are still ruling over the poor with help of Army in Pakistan

Today Model Town is one of the most upscale localities in Lahore and most homes are being torn down and replaced with modern villas. I am so happy that gems like this still exist and are preserved so beautifully. This history is irreplaceable.

Weldon Sir Bajwa... My grand father migrated from Ludhiana, had lots of properties in CHORA BAZAR ( Wide Bazar). Owned quite a few houses in Mohala Shakoor... and agricultural land in Halwara... My father passed away in 2017 and the day he died he kept on talking about his Havailli and lands in Khana, Halwara and few other places... Partition of subcontinent has left many stories like the one Sir Bajwa shared.

Shiv Ram Kashyap (6 November 1882 - 26 November 1934) was a botanist in British India. He was a specialist on the bryophytes especially from the Himalayan region. He has been called the father of Indian bryology. He was Professor of Botany at the Government College, Lahore. He had two sons (Amar Nath Kashyap & Kedarnath Kashyap) and three daughters (Uma, Usha & Pushpa). His daughter - Uma Kashyap "Kamini Kaushal" became a famous Indian actress.Shiv Ram Kashyap died at Lahore, on the 26th November, 1934.
