In the LN, Ranpo's parents are the only one who can understand HOW he thinks and are GOOD and HUMBLE people despite being smart. So Ranpo thought since his parents treated him the same and are smart as him, he thought EVERYONE are the same. So Ranpo is frustrated and distraught thinking that everyone must HATE him so much by playing tricks on him by pretending to be dumb. Hence if anything, Fukuzawa making Ranpo think his major intelligence is due to an 'ability' is actually MORE humble than spelling to him outright that 'no he just happens to be super genius with crazy intelligence all on his OWN'
If you enjoy the arc I recommend you read the novel its based on this adaptation of it was really good but they cut out alot still and its definitely an amazing read .
@@ProperCh i mean excluding his ability fyodor can hardly fight either.. half the time he just shoots people anyway so i doubt itd make that much of a difference
Something to note is the series is heavily tied with mental health. The main character suffers with ptsd, Daiza suffers with depression, another member suffers with feelings of worthlessness and self hate. So a character having autism isn't a far stretch.
The assasin kid is Oda, a character from Dazai's backstory in the port mafia that had the power to see the future. He appeared on season 2 so its normal you dont remeber him.
I just realized it’s not weird to forget a character that only appeared for four episodes several seasons ago. I’ve been obsessing over this show for a while, Odasaku is just always on my mind.
@@dearmalaysia same, I was frustrated like "how do people not recognize that the assassin is Odasaku?!" and then I remembered, not everyone is as obsessed with this anime/manga/novels as I am lmao, of course a lot of 'reactors' wouldn't remember him that easily, especially if they watch so many animes at the same time
You saying that Ranpo is super autistic actually makes a lot of sense because that happens to be one of the fandom's theories on Ranpo. He's insanely good at deduction and prediction, and also putting them into proper articulation, a true genius, however he also lacks dimensional perceptions, he fails to comprehend other people's POV and sometimes ends up saying stuff that might be impolite however reading the light novel and knowing about his genius parents and the way he grew up also makes sense. And seeing these past arcs, especially about young Ranpo, things in the anime from S1 make more sense especially why everybody including Dazai himself is willing to always gas him up
Now you know that Fukuzawa started everything when it comes to Ranpo's ego and personality in the present time. This boy is 14 years old in this flashback, and present day he's 26 years old. That's a lie that Fukuzawa probably regrets even 12 years later. 🤣
Fyodor is more of an aizen since Ranpo does not possess any malice or god complex neither manipulation skills that Aizen has but Fyodor is very similar to Aizen. Ranpo is more of a solver than a manipulator
this was explained back in season 2 when ranpo gets sucked in poe's book to find the killer. he finds out the truth he was in denial about... and the assassin was Oda the one who died in season 2 and made dazai go to the 'good' side
Imagine kid Rampo walking down the street, seeing a guy that just murdered someone and believing that eeeveryone else just chooses to ignore it thats so fucked up
God I love everything about this season already, the story and the way they present it, the focus on these specific characters, the Noir aesthetic, and the voice acting, Hiroshi Kamiya is killing it as Ranpo. If it weren’t for Vinland Saga this’d be an easy pick for anime of the season
I think the person who was first suspected as the killer (and then kidnapped) is Natsume sensei.. you know, the guy that can turn to cat? Like, the biggest plottwist in season 3?
you guys should watch monster (by Naoki Urasawa) from 2004!! it's quite literally one of the best stories ever written! and it has the greatest antagonist i've ever witnessed in fiction
As an autistic person, Ranpo being autistic makes SO MUCH SENSE. I love all his interactions with other characters and seeing his growth and struggles, he's one of the first times that aspect of me has felt represented well.
At first I was surprised in thinking the case ended so simply without a real murder. I was right, the game is still afoot after all. Also, again I’d really like to recommend Gundam the Witch from Mercury
Nooo you can't make me like Ranpo even more, I already have a weakness for detective characters 😭 (Altho now that I think about it, a lot of the detective characters, at least the ones I like, tend to autistic or ADHD coded. Wild)

Yup, sadly the anime miss that part about Rampo's parents or maybe not out yet.
This is a detail I would've loved to see, thanks for explaining it.
Bro got that dawg in him
This anime is so good but criminally underated it hurts
This and castlevania are both good anime’s I feel are not talk about enough.
Dude this anime is overrated
They already on season 4? This is one of those anime that people treat as popular when its just average
It’s SO underrated that it has a fourth season.
@@crowmaster9652 It’s decently popular because of the author/book involvement. Much like Stands with songs and bands.
It is popular. Depending on where you live anyways
This really fleshes out rampo and really makes you understand why everyone at the agency praises him so much, because he needs them to.

„If he was a villain he’d be a real problem“

If he was a villain hed literally be Fyodor but just cant fight lol. Noone could outsmart him except maybe Dazai.

Surprised Lupa didn't call out the officer for having too much budget for a side character
Fake cop could be current mafia boss considered this is happening before agency was created.
I think the person who was first suspected as the killer (and then kidnapped) is Natsume sensei.. you know, the guy that can turn to cat? Like, the biggest plottwist in season 3?
Ranpo ate the whole episode
