    Okay. I'm not too proud to admit.. I was dead wrong about these. Wasn't utilizing them properly and now it's full speed, perfect aliens 95%+ of the time. I had my freehand way of doing it and it wasn't translating into the alien makers method. Friend from local shop showed me a tip (different mounting method into chuck and swivel) and now they work like I never imagined possible. I'm still a freehand lover, but these make any coil builders life a breeze if your having a crappy build day. Removed any negative comments because it was MY fault they didn't work for me, not the makers. So an absolute 2 thumbs up and I'm seriously stoked at doing perfect 3x26 / 3x28 and even a 4x28 at full speed. Awesome! I apologize for any prior criticism because after building a certain way for 2 years it's hard to change old habits.

      Yeah maybe you can help me then. These worked PERFECTLY three or four times. Now they bind up for no apparent reason. My cores aren’t staying parallel in them. VERY VERY FRUSTRATING. Threw these out because they’re not worth all the wire I have to go through to get a usable coil. Super disappointed in these

    got these, not a very skilled builder. I have never even tried an alien, but i could already do staple coils, fused , and staggered fused claptons. any time i tried to do 3 wires it would just twist up , I just got this today and made some triple fused claptons 3*26 core 34wrap ss316, and it worked amazing! Next time i will try to do some 0.4 ribbon stacks with round 26 frames in the wide body set. Great product! Thanks!

    Hey sorry about the information on the "pinch and pull" method. Not sure where I saw it, I thought it was the quad core alien video by m.terk but after watching it again it doesn't show anything about the "pinch and pull" method. I did see it somewhere.. anyways, I don't stretch my clapton because I was inconsistent with doing it that way and I would have more failures. Basically what I do here is stretch the clapton just to get it situated in the drill. After that I pinch the clapton lightly, just enough to stretch it as far as it needs until my hand get about 10"(inches) away from the cores. Visually you can see your stretch while holding the unstretched in you hand. If you keep the same pressure on the clapton and keep it stet he's the same amount as you go full speed, it will pull the clapton from your hand. Prep extra claptons and do them all in a row and you'll pick it up pretty quick.

    I'm very interested in the Revolver, however, i have no idea how it works! I've been searching everywhere online for a tutorial and I've had no luck whatsoever. Please make a video on the Revolver so that more of us builders have a better understanding of it. I thoroughly enjoy using my Alien makers! They've made coil building so much more easier and quicker! Thank you

    All this does is keep the cores flat. With enough tension u can keep the cores flat without any assistance or u can use a key ring. This a cool idea though an I like that they slide down the wire. I don't have any trouble keeping the cores parallel. But this would be nice to have when doing aliens with 5 cores an above

    I’m not here to troll. I’m here for advice. When I first ordered these I was really excited because aliens are a pain. These were supposed to make life a bit easier and in concept, these are great. But I was only able to get 4 sets of usable aliens out of these before they started getting stuck. I’ve tried all sorts of configurations(3,4,5, and 6). I’ve found the more you put on, the more likely it is to bind on you. So I landed on three or four depending on the length. Got 2-3 serviceable coils after I found what worked, and now? I can’t get even one coil out of 10” of wire. I’ve blown through a 100’ spool of 26 gauge since I got these. Is there any trick to these or am I supposed to toss em after a few coils to get more? Because if the latter is what needs to be done, I’ll just stick to my key rings. Like I said, conceptually, these make sense. But in practice, I’m finding the juice just ain’t worth the squeeze. Hope you guys refine these (maybe make em out of metal?) because they work. Just not for very long before they allow too much slack.

    Hello, I bought these a few weeks ago, the 22/24ga and 26/28ga sets. At first they worked excellent, was able to make aliens at light speed. But now, for reasons that I cannot figure out the cores constantly collapse on top of each other? I've used the 28ga wire primarily and they've made literally hundreds of aliens so I'm wondering if they're worn out and spaced out more inside causing the cores to overlap and collapse? I've never had this issue and never had a problem until now. Let me just say I build staggertons, Fraliens, mohawks, basically everything so I have quite a bit of experience with building. For instance, when I'm making 3x28ga, 36ga clap aliens, the alien sliders move on their own down the cores before I can even catch the wrap on them so it's making me feel like they're worn out? I know smooth sliding is essential, but this is beyond the point of use if I can't even catch the maker because they just slide without me pushing them with the clap wire. Any feedback or input would be greatly appreciated.

    • @patinoscoilsmithing7628
      @patinoscoilsmithing7628  7 років тому +3

      Ya I've been using same set for a over a year now but I use them for 26g aliens. For 28g, when it's not holding them flat then they must be worn out but are probably still good for 27g and 26g don't throw them away... But for $10 I'm sure they made you enough money to buy another set right? That's another great thing about the alien makers is that they pay for them self very quickly if you're a builder selling coils.

      Patinos Coil Smithing you should sell different gauge alien “makers” or sliders because I know when first out of the box they require breaking in but since people use 28 gauge and smaller cores you should make or label different ones for different recommended gauges

    what do you mean by pinch pull method?
    ive watched some of the mterk build videos and i didnt hear anything about pinch pull methods.. can you explain please ( for the decored clapton

    • @patinoscoilsmithing7628
      @patinoscoilsmithing7628  7 років тому

      i dont pre stretch the decored claptons, i just stretch the first 1 inch to where the angle needs to be then situate it into the drill. that 1 inch ill stretch to about 3 inches. gently glide hand down the clapton slinky and stretch it to where it needs to be and where your hand is only about 10 inches away from cores. maybe a foot. hold that pressure until alien wrap is done. prep extras to get more attempts in at first. failures will occur when learning any new techniques but as long as the alien makers are sliding freely then its basically up to the stretch of the de cored clapton. other replys to msg's here have more info on making them run smoother.

      when they're new if they're snug on the 3x26 get them situated on the cores and into swivel / drill then slide them back and forth until you feel them loosen up. its always good to make sure the alien makers are sliding freely before wrapping anything. Snags in the line will definitely affect the outcome.

      yes good for all types of wire given they are the proper gauge. even ribbon wire too so you can make staples or framed staples.. also the framed staple Alien a great build. the 26q28g alien makers can hold up to 10 ply of .3-.4 ribbon for a staple coil. or for framed staple with 2x26g or 2x28g frames should fit up to 6 ply ribbon. great for stitched aliens, tsukas, enigmas or any build that has muilt-cores or is wrapped in the clapton fashion.

I will say when i get to the end of the decored clapton i mess up on the end of my alien wire, but its like an inch so no big deal. Still great vid and great product. i should of got the red ones in the vid they look nicer.

      @patinoscoilsmithing7628  7 років тому +1

      ya at the end, the turning of the wrist is very key all though it doesnt always work for me but like you said its at the end and i usually have enough already for 6 wraps around 3mm by then. helps if the clapton is atleast 8 inches long or longer until you get it down, i know if you make your clapton really long you might experience more twisting of the cores. thats why i cut the cores and reposition every coil.

      Yes they are optimized for round wire and for doing aliens /fused clapton variations. But the 26-28g alien makers also fit up to 10ply of .3-.4 ribbon. For staples and framed staples you'll get like 6ply ribbon with 2x28g frames. The 22-24g alien makers fit .5 ribbon and will slide over 2x28twisted frames.. might be good for fusing smaller sfc's together but haven't tried. Obviously the 30-32g alien makers are very small, only allowing 3x30g - 4x32g

      @chrispatino7235 7 років тому +2

      Hmm interesting, if anyone has any questions or problems feel free to contact me at chris@patinos.nyc or on Instagram @patinosnyc, I'll try to help. I know the 3x26g are snug at first but that's because I wanted to last longer. A trick I use to getting the cores thru is take flat pliers, grab all 3cores and force them on. Secure the cores to drill then slide them back and forth until you feel them loosen up. It only takes me a like 10minutes to take a new pair and get 2 aliens. As the video says my drill is 1200rpms if your drill is faster, you'll have more twisting if you go from 0rpms-4000 rpms instantly. Ease your speed up.as long as the alien makers are sliding freely then the rest is up to the builders. Aliens are still tricky the alien makers just eliminate the stop and go process used by older methods of keeping the cores flat. Sorry for headaches, I made these to put more money in the coil builders pockets not to jip people off..been using my original prototypes for almost a year now. Hope you have better luck. Btw the clapton for an alien when using 3cores should be around a 26g wire.

    • @b.w.oofficial7738
      @b.w.oofficial7738 7 років тому

      Chris Pat ino Used 26 to break them in. Even tried using 3x 27 gauge nichrome for abit more room so they would move easily. I'm using a battery drill. Will try again tomorrow.

    • @b.w.oofficial7738
      @b.w.oofficial7738 7 років тому

      Chris Pat ino would like to take this opportunity to apologise for being rude. I have had more success in using my first batch of alien makers and have the others which I need to break in at some point. I haven't used the pinch and pull method but stretching the decored clapton just right has been a big breakthrough. If it's not stretched enough I find myself pulling on the wire grouping and twisting the cores leading to further problems. I can now get a dual coil done from start to finish in under 30 minutes easy.

Bought 28-26. 2i works decent but can't hardly get 3 26 gauge wire through one much less 3. then if I do they don't move. I want my money back this is a gimmick piece of garbage

      hey sorry man, sounds like your experiencing problems during the breaking in period. Try securing your 3x 26g gauge cores to the swivels, slide on all 6 alien makers and get them locked in your drill. slide them back and forth one at a time until you feel them loosen up. its always good to make sure theyre sliding freely before wrapping. its just because theyre 3d printed and the holes are so small. once there sliding freely its basically up to the user.

    Good for people with hand problems thats cool. good thing my hands are still working or i'd have to buy these things hint, hint their crap.... its easier to uses flat ribbon or tape at least it doesnt need a "break in period" and you can get it all for next to nothing. dont buy this shit basically is my answer unless you have the money to waste
