    Planting the FIRST 2022 Soybeans
    It's been a cool, wet spring here in western Ohio but we were finally able to get into the fields for a bit and in this video I show you some of the action as I plant the first field of soybeans for the 2022 season.
    I am running a John Deere 8200 tractor pulling a Deere 1795 planter that has 32 row units on 15'' row spacing. This planter width is about 40' wide.

    Another great job from that farmhand Mike guy. Power poles are bad enough mowing hay at night but those anchor wires are damaging! Keep ‘‘em coming and God bless you all.

    Love seeing farms using the marker system. I always remember when my dad was driving cross country and looking out the passenger side of the car I could see the row crops so evenly spaced. This was in the 60's, 70's and 80's... way before GPS. The effect was magical.
    I like Mike. Happy subscriber 😊.

    Great to see a planter rolling! It's been a slow start across the whole corn-belt. There's no telling what the profit per acre will be on those beans! Times like these i wish we grew grain instead of cattle down here in Southern MO. Always enjoy watching your first-class vids!!

    Yes indeed Mike, those Poles and Pylons keep on jumping out from where they never jumped out before! so no GPS either despite all the electronicsw on the Planter - Gee -won't the controller go in a tizzzzzz ? That's how I like it! - giving the operator something to do apart from controlling the drone.
    Running in the new tyres ? Yes Mike - tell us more - few if anything gets RUN -IN nowadays. and I'm a firm believer in man and machine gettin run in at the beginning of the season too - all that winter flab. Jimgs in Yesteryear with our Massey Combine Drills, putting down 1.5cwts seed + 3-4cts Fert down the spout at 5-6 acres per hour on a 3m machine took some physical effort at re-fill time - all those wee 1cwt bags - remember? Raining Dogs n cats here - time to watch others and reflect - thanks Mike.

    Love your video's but I will have to say that you are the first farmer that I watch use the row markers on a planter. With that being said I hope you have a phenomenal crop this year. God bless many prayers and stay safe.

    That sounds like our part of the UK except for the rain as it has just been cold and dry. Probably as well that we couldn't justify fertilizer for the pastures this year and it likely would have just been a colossal waste as we just haven't had the rain and when we did it was icy including snow in April not something I have seen here and not something my dad can remember, hail yes but not snow thankfully it lasted only a day.

      Mucho snow in the UK, April 2008. I'm 58 and remember snow in April several times. Snow in June back in '75.

      @@markrskinner it seems as though we can get some of the coldest temps in the winter here in Kent when the weather circles in from Norway and Russia but tend to have near constant hose pipe bans in the summer months unless they wish to build thousands of homes then it suddenly disappears for a month or so while the planning goes through

    Is that what the extension arms with the wheel on it is? Lining up the next row?

    • @farmhandmike
      @farmhandmike  2 роки тому +1

      Yes that's a planter marker. On my next pass I follow that line with the center of the tractor and it keeps you lined up properly with the pass I just planted. Not as many guys use markers these days as GPS is more common.
