This part is so nicely done, the way it uses the soundtrack and beautiful cinematography to slowly build suspense toward the huge plot-twist at the end. Most current movies and TV shows could learn from this editing style.
+scuzzlebutt I totally agree, one of the most beautiful and emotional endings I've seen... the song fits perfectly too I hope everyone play this game to experience this.
Lol, so did i, probably more here than any other part in the game. Not sure why, but partly because it was so unexpected, and partly because of how different she seemed, like, happy? I dunno, but this one hit me hard haha
And then when you think it couldn't possibly get any worse, the beginning of the next episode rips your twisted heart right out of your chest and stomps on it.
This is a million times better written than so many movies today. The lead up to this is so unexpected from the point where you look at the picture onward, but it still feels plausable within this universe's laws. I'm so excited to play the next episode.
It was superobvious tbh. I immedietaly knew, when Max woke up in the past - Max will try to delay William or somehow save William, and for that Chloe will get fucked as a trade off, either dead or a burden. Solid scene, but for me it was super obvious outcome.
I played a lot of great games where you alter history with your decision (Mass Effect, Dragon Age,...) and also saw lots of great touching movies (Shawshank Redemption, The Intouchables) and i never thought that game could get me by suprise like it did. By far the most touching moment i have ever seen or read in any media whatsoever. Seeing her body broken like that and still she is so brave and smiles like an angel just because i came to visit her. This shows that video games, if done right, can surpass any other media we have, and Dontnod Entertainment would definitely deserve an oscar for this scene.
Fucking perfect, just brilliant. Everything in this episode final is nailed. The weird backward music during the pictures changing, the way reality reconstruct itself from photos like in the Butterfly Effect, the confusion of the alternate reality, the sunset atmosphere, the music (Mogwai... such a beautiful song so well chosen for that scene), and the twist, shocking, raw, and guiltripping.
You know despite how twisted and f*cked up this reality is, seeing Alt. Chloe smile really warms my heart. She just looks so happy in this hopeless world...she deserves that happiness. I wanna give her a hug so badly.💙
Ikr why is it in every time travel movie or game the character trys to save someone or stop 911 wich could cause bad shit but there to stupid to know that lol
William was such an amazing and friendly father, but I couldn't do it to Chloe. This ending made me cry like a little bitch. The look on Max's face breaks my heart.
+lyhthegreat he actually would have built something nice for people who are handicaped :) but truth is i was more concerned with what if we got caught.
+One L It might have been funny if in Episode 4, alt!Chloe said something like, "I can't go to school anymore, since someone took money from the handicapped fund," And Max was like "Um..."
Everything has its own consequences, that’s why the butterfly effect is the main thing here. I remember finishing Chaos Theory and made my keyboard wet with my tears. Sheeeett
This makes me cry every time I see or play through this . Dontnod should win the highest award possible for this cutscene direction if haven't yet. So emotionally amazing.
Zaid Fulton i think what happened was that maybe when her dad was supposed to die...maybe it reversed to chloe and she was just learning to drive and maybe she got in a car crash
I just felt shocked and speechless when I saw the plot twist but then started to cry uncontrollably when the credits came in. Damn, this so heartbreaking...
i remember crying for like 1 hour straight and ending up sleepless & tired for the next couple of days.. its been a year since but i still cry watching this scene..
well, at least William lived, but I don't know how Chloe feels about this, I don't know if she will choose a shitty life with grumpy step dad, or be disabled but with her dad alive.
I have been watching the wife play this for a few days now. last night she finished this episode. this scene just keeps playing over and over again in my head. I can't remember a movie or game in recent history that got into my head like this. good stuff..
I really hope that before I die someone makes a movie on this. Ofcourse you can't cover choices, but the main plot remains the same and thus, would be an amazing movie
I think the main idea for this episode was that life itself is a compromise. Max saved David from dying, but the changed timeline resulted in Chloe being put in a wheelchair. Same idea goes for computers, they can be used for good, but also for bad (hacking). Life is Strange, but really, Life is a Compromise.
It’s crazy they foreshadowed this, and the financial struggles of chloes parents, when you had the choice to steal the money for the handicapped fund or not
if this didnt shake your core then something is wrong with you. this scarred me for life made me think a thousand times of the consequences of any action i do no matter how good i thought it would be
True story, right when I saw how drastic the timeline changes were, I kept screaming “Max did a Flashpoint” as soon as the credits were rolling. If anyone gets what I’m referencing, you deserve a like.
I knew this would happen, after witnessing so many sci-fi/time travel movies, to prevent a death of a man would require so many other events to transpire drastically.. and even then there's still the butterfly effect, to prevent William's death, many events would've had to changed in Maxine and Chloe's new timeline, all from an entirely new perspective. And the chaos theory which the title of this chapter is pertaining means "constants and variables" will be altered if one attempts to tamper at it or at change the fate of an existing outcome (bioshock infinite reference winky face), that's why it's called Chaos theory, the result or consequence of every action and reaction (newton's third law of motion) is chaotic and unpredictable, if one attempts to change the past, the future will be different in all possible ways, in this case explains why chloe is in a wheelchair in this timeline and max as a time traveller couldn't have seen or predicted that coming. In all honesty, i actually prefer the old timeline, where Chloe's dad died and Chloe is a rebellious punk bubbly lass... contrary to this scenario
May sound strange, but this is the better timeline for Chloe I'd guess. She was smiling the moment she saw max. She were never alone as she said often in the first timeline. Her father never died and though, her life is still hard, she may always felt loved. ;-)
Played through this yesterday. Totally unexpected, shocking and heart breaking... The music, ominous ambiance, and how they build up the suspense. My anxiety became pain as soon as I noticed Max's face changed in that camera angle from a low height. It was awesome! I got watery eyes hahaha
Yeah straight up I was sooooo sad at the end I would've let William die I tried lol but it Said nope he has to live I want old Chloe back she was so good and cool and awesome
Responsibility and Guilt are the two emotions that are unique to video games. This scene proves it. I have never felt so much guilt when seeing Chloe in that chair and felt I was responsible for it.
Finished the game yesterday. This scene... just hit me so hard ... i didn't move for like 15min. Thinking about how i f*cked up ... How with good intention but the wrong way you can just f*cked up at a point you can't even imagine ... And chloe's smile because i finally came to visit her but it is my fault if my powerful chloe is stuck in a wheelchair and dying but yet she is so brave so happy.... GOD DAMMIT THAT WAS SO UNFAIR !!... damn it was so hard to face all of this and go for Episode 4 ... I'm still feeling bad and can't get it out of my head...
I just finished this eps. This ending really mindblowing. Like think about it, first we thought this "universe" is really great for Chloe. Her dad still alive, and she's very happy from the pictures. And then, boom, the ending destroys it.
I'm the only one that reminds a little Flashpoint? Where Flash back in time to save his mother from being killed and in doing so, makes superman land in the city instead of the field, bruce wayne die, Aquaman and Wonder Woman to cause World War III, etc .. ..
Same but just didn’t know what was going to happen. I figured chloe committed suicide or her mom died instead of her dad This scene was so heartbreaking
Maybe she will find a pic of Chloe right before she gest hurt and save her like she did her dad, or maybe the more probable thing is she will go back and let Chloe's dad leave. But from the after ending credits it looks like she goes w/ this for a while and goes to the vortex club party, was it the one Kate was at? Or was it the one that people kept telling her to go too. Shit is getting hella fucking insane.
She really didnt spend long enough in this timeline, she could've fixed everything if she tried. If she can only timetravel with her own pictures, she could travel to sometime before Chloe was ran off the road and Max could phone her and warn her about it. And if all else fails she can go back even further and tell her dad not to move.
Okay so, here's how I think the things will go from here: Max will try to find a way to go back in time again and "kill" William to fix the timeline, while figuring out a way to do that, she'll learn that the Prescotts are somehow related with the supernatural things happening around the city. The reason I think Prescott's have something to do with it is because of Nathan's drawing "Rachel in the Dark Room", next episode is called "Dark Room" and is in another timeline, which makes me think Nathan might have a power similar to Max's. Once she "fixes" the timelines she'll learn that tinkering with them caused herself to split into two different personalities, Rachel Amber and Max Caulfield. I personally did not think Rachel and Max were the same person despite some of the theories people were making, however, in this episode Max gets compared and confused with Rachel A LOT. It's almost as if they're directly hinting at them being the same person.
That's pretty good. I honestly Chloe is now paralyzed because of that new red truck you see in the picture, instead of William dying that day, Chloe uses the truck gets into an accident causing her to lose feeling from the neck down. Then with Rachel Amber she probably never goes missing, but I think Max will still go back in time to make sure William still passes away goes back to the future and tell Chloe what will actually happen to her if she actually saves William from going for that drive. Then back to the search for rachel amber.
+Surweevir 961 She didn't know of such a scenario I don't think, I think that photo popped up in a cutscene. And who knows what other butterfly effects would occur there.
Jeremy Wong Because Parallel Worlds and timeline changes...I recommend reading Parallel Worlds by Michio Kaku. And before Flashpoint, there was the Infinite Crisis on Infinite Earths, which was slightly adapted for Crisis on Two Earths movie.
In a way, Life Is Strange is like Flashpoint and Crisis On Infinite Earths mashed into one. I guess you can say that the storm could be the Anti-Monitor in a sense and that ghost deer is The Monitor. Which makes BTS the origin stories and Adventures of Captain Spirit and Life Is Strange 2 the aftermath of Crisis
I hated this end with all my being I swear if this timeline isn't reversed I'm gonna lose it I loved the old Chloe so much now we get a crippled Chloe bs I want the old Chloe back if they don't fix this then screewww square enix
I liked the old timeline better too because this one is so awkward. Their relationship isn’t the same, but there is no need to be harsh lol. I kinda like Chloe in a wheelchair
This is what the new game missing, a proper ending sequence at the end of the chapter. I dont know why they didnt create the ending sequence like this, they did it in bts just fine
Thanks for the upload. I just finished the episode myself and for some reason the song is muted, but there is still dialogue between William and Max. Anyone else encounter this issue on the 360?
i just noticed... three is missing the outro scene continutation. As in episode one is the red binder panning, then episode two focusing on kate's picture, :0
am I the only one who gets creeped out by the timeline change as your so used to this reality and when it changes it makes you feel disorientated a bit. the pictures were quite creepy with the music..
This scene really shocked me and gave me goosebumps. The lighting, the music, Max's reaction, Chloe's smile....Really amazing scene in my opinion.
This could have been a complete show haha is amazing this game I love it.
As poorly animated as this game was, the writing, the music, the voice acting, it’s a true tear jerker
Thinking about that scene for weeks now , I was so shocked
"I know she's been DYING to see you."

This part is so nicely done, the way it uses the soundtrack and beautiful cinematography to slowly build suspense toward the huge plot-twist at the end. Most current movies and TV shows could learn from this editing style.
I think that the good use of cinematics is a major point of LIS. It makes every scene so fascinating.
+scuzzlebutt I totally agree, one of the most beautiful and emotional endings I've seen... the song fits perfectly too I hope everyone play this game to experience this.
i agree, although watching it for the second time the amount of foreshadowing was unnecessary and kinda ruins the impact of the plot twist.
They used it on 13 Reasons Why, it's so similar :D
IamRena Iloveoyashirosama Wait they used what on 13 reason why? the song? Or the technique?

Okay so, here's how I think the things will go from here:
Max will try to find a way to go back in time again and "kill" William to fix the timeline, while figuring out a way to do that, she'll learn that the Prescotts are somehow related with the supernatural things happening around the city. The reason I think Prescott's have something to do with it is because of Nathan's drawing "Rachel in the Dark Room", next episode is called "Dark Room" and is in another timeline, which makes me think Nathan might have a power similar to Max's. Then back to the search for rachel amber.
Hiro Hamada Did not think about that at all, think that's very likely going to happen.
Why didn't she just find the photo where they got that new car and try to prevent that incident? WHY DIDN'T ANYONE THINK OF THAT?!
+Surweevir 961 She didn't know of such a scenario I don't think, I think that photo popped up in a cutscene. And who knows what other butterfly effects would occur there.
