I used to think he was a nobody/quitter. Hated him with a passion after the Holloway fight thinking he was a coward (tbh, never understood his situation). After a couple of watches, improving his striking, he popped out of nowhere as a juggernaut and fucked up everyone. My idol Charles

Grew up watching GSP and haven't felt that kind of excitement in years after he retired I thought I would be done with the UFC but Charles changed that for me.
That moment where he wins the belt is probably the greatest title win ever. He was overwhelmed with joy. You just know all that hard work and the setbacks and everything he went through that he genuinely appreciated his victory and enjoyed it.

One thing you notice about him in his early fights is how young and skinny he was. People still judge him based on old losses but he never took the easy way to the title the way young fighters do now

That last punch to chandler was just pure instinct. He didn't punch him where he was but where he was going to be.

He reminds me of the origins of UFC when Royce Gracie would submit everybody but back then BJJ was unknown, now everybody knows and train BJJ and yet he finishes everybody like they’re amateurs.
Charles Oliveira is an excellent showcase as to how dangerous BJJ can be when its fully adjusted to an MMA skillset.
His Jujitsu is on another level, super flowing and creative. Much more exciting and dynamic than Gracie.

You can clearly see the evolution of his game. First 7 minutes all submissions then he learned how to strike at a high level making him so dangerous. A complete fighter who can win in anyway possible who has found his stride and debunked all who thought he was a quiter. Man has resilience, undeniable at this point. Scary.
actually you can see in 90% of his fights the other guy is bleeding before the submission, he always give opponents a lot of punishment before submissions.
Didn't he go up a weight class? I think that's why he transitioned his style to more upright striking friendly, because he bulked up and it became more efficient to master striking

I am a boxing fan but this man is INSANE‼️ his technique and patience & his IQ n conditioning is unparalleled and his heart and chin and just over all ability to work at such a fast pace is amazing. Chito is one of the best predictors of who will win a fight.
Not only are his transitions a work of art, but his control of his opponent is top tier. Controlling their legs/feet/hands/arms while also working on a submission is what really separates him out. And he does it lightning quick.

He had some tough losses which he overcame and then turned into this absolutely lethal killer. When he locks up a submission it's lightning quick. You're dead. And you know he can hit hard when Gaethje says so! Total badass.
