I have faint memories of this, though I was in the 9th grade when it originally aired (according to google search). It's so well done. It got nutrition into kids' minds while being cool and fast paced. It seems influenced by PBS' Zoom and some Saturday morning cartoons. I googled the man playing the quirky hapless Wilbur and he was Barry Michlin, who acted in my home city of Louisville at Actors Theater in 1967-68, interestingly while I was exactly the age this show was pitched to. So "Wilbur" was actually in my midst for a while.
I was madly in love with Maggie! Grade 4 when this show was on. According to IMDb, her name is Sherry Wright and she did no other TV or moves after this one-season non-hit.
We watched these in school back in the seventies. They were really pushing the four food groups and I remember Tony Tiger breakfast challenge. Little did we know how bad that sugary stuff was for us!
I saw this in school on TV when I was a child. They would always say, "You are tuned to the in-school portion of the broadcast day of WEDU Channel 3, Tampa St. Petersburg."
Reminds me of the all time favorite of Mr. Owl eating the tootsie roll pop!!! How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? What a classic!
It is a bit sad to realize that all those children and adolescents brimming with youth who appear in the park after minute 26:15, today are practically elderly over 60 years old. 😢😭
I remember watching these in grade school, with the teachers handing out the comic book as well. All very cheap, and the songs have seriously clumsy lyrics. "When you're on top of the world, there's no place but go up." WTF? I found it all strangely fascinating, like watching a car crash.
Well, yeah... to adults. As kids, we didn't care as long as we got out of more boring activities to watch it. Plus, the "plotty" parts were mercifully brief, and intercut with cool music and amusing animation.
Whatever happened to the good old days when there were only FOUR nice simple food groups?

R.I.P. Sherry Wright A.K.A Maggie 1958-2009
Same year I was born. That makes this particularly sad. :(

Man, this takes me back. Why did this 10-year-old kid look like Mick Jagger and care so much about my vitamin intake???

Please! Mulligan is beautiful, Mick Jagger is super ugly. 😝🤭🤣
One of my favorite shows growing up
