Good question! I played this as a freshman with about a year or so of four mallet experience (probably only a few months with burton grip specifically). The piece isn't super demanding from a physical standpoint though it's certainly not easy. I'd say it's more difficult in terms of musical expression and phrasing. If you're a relative beginner it's definitely doable it will just lots of practice to get comfortable with the piece.
