Over 3000 Cameras At Pune's Vintage Camera Museum | India’s Largest Vintage Camera Museum

Passion and perseverance are the words best suited for a man who has built an empire based on his love towards photography. 88-year-old retired photographer, Mr. Haji Farid Sheikh brings a legacy along with him. Owning a collection of more than 3000 cameras ranging from the oldest vintage camera to the latest version from across the globe, his collection is registered as the biggest collection of cameras in Asia. Off NIBM road, ahead of Kalyan mangal karyalay, a building named Farid Manzil is a museum which has a revolutionary tale to tell. When he was presented with one camera, that's how I got started His euphoric journey is told by the legend himself, as his face glows up when he begins to share his experiences with the world.
In 1968, a young Farid Sheikh was gifted a folding camera by his father, who himself was a photographer. Sheikh clicked some great pictures with it despite the poor camera quality since it was vintage, quite popular in the first half of the 20th century. This impressed his father who then began training him in photography. Today, that camera sits in the mesmerizing vintage camera museum at Sheikh's bungalow in Pune.
Mr. Farid is a pioneer in the field of photography whose example and legacy will help the future generations not only witness the unique evolution of mankind’s abilities through the invention of camera, but also understand the true value of storming through hardships and following one’s dreams with honest dedication.
