- Homeless Aboriginal people in Darwin are often called "Long grass People" or "Longgrassers" because their camps are hidden in the long grass. They are also known as "Itinerants" because they move between the city and country areas or Aboriginal Lands in the Northern Territory/. Othres are long term residents who have been evicted from housing or cannot find accommodation. All are harassed by police and City Council Rangers. Their camps are broken up and their belongings removed or burnt. In 2005 the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) "Message Stick" program interviewed long grass people and those who work with them. This video is taken from interviews in that TV program.

@cebola Pao I’m not saying religion I’m mentioning here the Name Jesus makes the difference in people’s life if want change. I’m Fijian grow up in Fiji experience how we live back in the days when my elders CHOOSE to come to know Jesus is change the whole aspect of how we live this days not religion. I’ve been to community here in Australia sharing with my brothers & sisters who come to know this Jesus I’m talking about and it’ change there life. We always praying for our Indegenous family that one day they will come and to know Peace & love & Freedom through the name of Jesus.
