I love this Era of Black Flag. This is the tightest rhythm section Bill and Kira play together with power and perfection and Greg is one of my favorite guitarist and Henry is always Henry.
+Ixi'kweez If you have the full length video version of the last Black Flag show with Henry in Detroit Late June '86 you should upload it it is a very important piece of history cementing the group as one of the GOATS…also thank you for uploading this the tubes needed it.

There is so much that Greg Ginn needs to release. A Dez version of Damaged would be a good start. Or how about anything with with Chuck Biscuits on drums.m
+IEatAss Kira started with Black Flag at the end of Dec 83. So after only 6 or 7 months, its entirely possible they were getting along well at the time. Of cousr, by the time Kira and Bill left in 85, it seems like they were all a little sick of each other.
Thank you so much for uploading this. I have that same CD that another commenter mentioned ("The Complete 1982 Demos Plus More"), which has tracks 2-5 from this vid. Ever since I heard that material I've been wondering if there's more from this session and I'm so happy to find out that there is! Anyone know if this video represents the entirety of this session? Sounds like it does but I'm just curious.
This recording appears to have been sourced from a pre-FM station broadcast master tape, and definitely comprises the entirety of what was broadcast over the air, so it's a fairly safe bet that these tracks are all that remains of the performance (even if additional songs were initially recorded and edited out of the final broadcast tape). EDIT: I just realized from reading the rest of the comments section that mdoggy above was one of the hosts heard on this recording. So it's safe to say that this is all that was taped!
@@mdoggy99 Do you know if Middle Class or 100 Flowers ever recorded a live session like this at Radio Tokyo? I know both groups took part in similar sessions at KPFK's Studio Z as part of their "12 o'Clock Rock" concert series, and I believe both groups recorded some of their studio output at Radio Tokyo...
@@cftvdata The only other live performance and interview we did was with The Minuteman. I have yet to locate that on UA-cam. It was such an privilege to witness both the Black Flag and Minuteman performances. It was just the bands performing in the studio alone to me, Lisa Mitchell and Ethan James. 100 Flowers recorded a bunch at Radio Tokyo but never a live set. My band, The Shadow Minstrels, were friends with Middle Class and briefly had their bass player, the other Mike Patton, in the band. But Middle Class never recorded a live show and interview there.

God if My War had this production, I would've loved it even more. And I love that record.
That's exactly what I thought 7seconds into it myself and yeah the 7 seconds is a play on the word or band but I think the exact same thing.

Impressive collection. You're quite the archivist.

Greg just decimated that "Three Nights" solo...oh my goodness gracious me
This is awesome.
Kira is baked beyond recognition
Allllll of my favorite versions of these songs!😁👍

An amazing recording.
Three Nights is totally on.
Thanks much!!!
I love listening to Kira talk. This performance fucking rules.
They sound oddly happy and functional here. Pretty contradictory of what I've read and heard about the band.

How I would rank the three versions of my war
1.Radio Tokyo Version
2.1982 Demo Album
3.Studio Album Version
This version is the only good version imo, the others put me to sleep

the worst version of Black Flag
Wrong
Fuck Off
Literally how
I don't understand this... This is great stuff..
This is my definitive Black Flag line up. Seamless integration of punk, metal, jazz and blues. Brilliant.
The intro says "inception in 1977..." they were Panic...in 79 they became Black Flag. So Nervous Breakdown is technically Panic.
Even then, Panic formed in '76 not '77
Intro radio Tokyo name??
