I have a kia Sorento with a wide trunk. I heard everyone talking about a van or sedan. My truck is pretty comfortable, and I bought it brand new. What are your thoughts on this type of truck?

When I worked for an adult day program, this is the vehicle we used as well.
What state are you in? Yes. We tell people all the time to look into partnering with day programs. Some programs have their own vehciles and many do not.

I wanted to ask - all of your vans will transport wheelchair bound patients. Do you guys in general not transport pts on stretchers? I am trying to understand the different “levels” of vehicles that will accommodate different pts.
Thank you! We do not offer gurney service. There are three common modes of transportation. Ambulatory, Wheelchair, and Gurney.
2014 or newer? WOW! That must be a California thing? I'm in Southern NY, I drive part time for an ambulette service. My usual vehicle is a 2012 For E-250 High top van with, get this, 510,000 Miles on it. The wheel chair lifts in the back of all our vans, 2011-2013, rattle loudly like crazy.
You got a good van there, keep up the the maintenance.
I would avoid side entry.
510,000 miles? Mouth drop moment. Yes. Each state has their own requirements and you are absolutely right! No matter what year you should always keep up on vehicle maintenance.

You've invested a lot of time. I know you're passionate about what you do because you've stuck in there. Thank you for providing them babies with a safe ride all those years.
After 15 years that is exactly what I did! I bought a Dodge Caravan and immediately had business. One year later and business is great!

Thank you for the good job you guys are. doing. I am planning to start the NEMT business, and I found a used 2011 Grand caravan with a mileage of about 65k. It's also wheelchair accessible at a very reasonable price. Can I buy it ? Thanks

Can I buy a used van for 10k and scale up. Does it have to be 2014 or newer to qualify for Medicare and insurances?
This is often times an individual state requirement. We would recommend visiting your states website to see what their vehicle requirements are.
The information you provide is fantastic, I have a question, can I start with a 2024 Kia Sportage hybrid, is it an SUV? It's my personal car.
You can definitely start with what you have but remember you always want to analyze your market to make sure that the demand for ambulatory transportation is needed prior to investing time and money. If you are unsure on how to analyze the market I’ll leave a link below for a mini course.

Check on your states DHCS website. You should be able to find an answer there. Whats common in most states is no older than 10 years.

I have been listening to both of you on your UA-cam videos explaining how you started your medical transportation . I want you both to know that you are amazing in every video made . personally I have come to understood very well from your videos how this business starts and runs.
I have just registered my NEMT Company here in New Jersey. Since I don’t have a clue about this business it scares me in some way, even though I have been working as a home care attendant for 11 years and never heard of this business.
I am now deciding which vehicle to buy for this business.

How do I let or say to a Nursing Home or Clinic for example that only vehicle I have is a sedan as oppose to having a van.
It's important for you to identify who your client is and then identify where you can find them. If I only offered ambulatory services Nursing homes would be last on my list to pursue.

I am just starting out, I hv a 2013 nissan Altima. Is this ok to start until I get established? I did know that I had to own my vehicle and hv it in the business name to qualify with a broker.
Yes you can start with what you have. However, profits are greater when you increase your level of services.

Corporation and licensing fees depend on your state.

It depends on your state, but most states do not require a CDL

Americans with Disabilities Act - It's a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities.
🌟Much BETTER choice for LONG-TERM high mileage reliability with low maintenance cost would be the Toyota Sienna Hybrid! If you can't afford the hybrid (that gets fantastic ⛽ milage) get the non hybrid! Please challenge me by checking consumer reports, and the internet for people who keep a vehicle +200k miles worry free! Town & Country has a lot of cool features, but once you get over 100k miles, prepare to get a second mortgage on your house to pay for all the REPAIR BILLS! 😉
