I noticed the same thing. Usually, the editing is pretty spot on and this one I just noticed a couple hard cuts and some differences from what I usually see. Not necessarily bad but just different.

Bit of Lore for ya. So the Elves of Kaldheim are descended from the Old Gods the Einir, but were overthrown by the Skoti (the current gods). The Skoti trapped the Elvish gods in trees and split the wood and shadow elves, but Harald had reunited them.
Rocco as a Naya from exile is a great build. Also Rocco as an enabler for a +1/+1 counter deck in Naya vs Shalai and Hallar as the pay off for the same deck is another great take on a Naya counters decks
I made a Rocco deck and it's fun as heck. I get to farm things like "share the spoils" or the new Etali, while not feeling like the deck is just curb stomping people at my lgs

Also: The only way the writers of March of the Machine got around Ravnica's 10 guilds led by Niv-Mizzet completely kicking New Phyrexian butt after the failed invasion was to do the good old "if we cut away and never cut back it doesn't happen"-slight of hand. Which is really dumb because they could have just written: "And then the portal to Ravnica closes".
Moxfield ad guess: 22:22 I'm currently building Narset, and I kinda want to build Ob Nixilis and Tyvar. For as garbage as this set's release option was, there are a lot of good commanders in it.
Im definitely highest on the new Nissa. Easy to assemble Ashaya + quirion ranger, and she enables the inf mana production on her own. My list only runs 6 targets for nissa and it's even able to hold its own in cEDH pods.
I think Sigarda should be a little higher. She gives ALL other permanents hexproof. Meaning if you put a swiftfoot boots onto her you can't destroy her without a board wipe which is super easy to avoid in selesnya colors
Pia with a token doubled and a cathars crusade would be sick. Every spell cast from exile gets you two bodies and two counters on your whole team which you can swing with immediately. Alternatively you can just do a token doubler and purphoros or reckless fire weaver and kill people before ever going to combat
I'm glad you two are high on Pia. As someone who tried, really hard, to make Bell Borca work, it's good to have a strong Boros exile matters commander. "Carnival of Card Draw" needs to be the name of every Pia deck.
When I saw the Narset leaked I fell in love! I had an idea and built it with a budget idea in mind that is actually pretty fair, yet fun! 0 extra combats or extra turns All cards are non-creatures The idea is just to go wide with token makers in instants enchantments and sorceries and bump them all and just hit with a wide and tall board The problem I see is people will probably build the extra turn extra combat versions and she'll probably gain a bad reputation, but I played it before release with my group (proxied) And it was really fun
I mean, not ramp specifically but drawing up to 7 plus countering things will still reign supreme to me. In addition to specific Eldrazi support like Eye of Ugin and Eldrazi Temple
I guess I'm gonna have to go to bat for Rocco here. Theyre a surprisingly good commander and i think the 2 power level here is definitely a mistake. I understand the group huggy effect isnt everyone's cup of tea, but you don't have to play around it at all. It's a nice thing to have, but you don't have to run any other group hug cards in the deck. I see Rocco as an interesting alternative to prosper decks, and is definitely really fun.
I made a nahiri deck and idk, 25 equipment? Think im running 34 and tbh only gonna go down 1 or 2. Its a weirdly different from other equipment commanders even though it looks the same on paper

I good point you brought up is all these characters that have YEARS go by and their plots are extended like 1 paragraph but yet they get a new card every set. So its like why do I care about koira?
tbh I don't think you're supposed to build Rocco as a group hug deck, you should be leveraging all the value you get out of a free card and the counter + food on everyone's turn
This may have been stated somewhere but I couldn't find it online. Is there a stated reason for not including the legal un-commanders like Magar? I get they may be hard to rank and most aren't legal anyways but I was just curious
I'm surprised that the new Tazri only got a 9 for uniqueness. I can honestly not think of a more unique commander in the last 5-ish years - and that's *a lot* of commanders. I would personally only give the art a 7, though, which evens out the score anyway.
I love the new sigarda. I've already brewed her up. I don't like the cast of the top though I like the hexproof and getting to play angels in my two favourite colours, plus great art
I didnt expect this ranking for my favorite legend here, but i love nahiri. And i dont think she is that weak. Sure, im a casual player, but she can do funny things, for example embercleave can be a huge flashy drop from Exile with her. Living weapon/ for mirrodin/ reconfigure is a cool theme and has more than enough strong equipments (30 in my deck) and creatures (27 in my deck). I recommend her! :)
I think that Joe has a big crush on Dinosaurs. Every time they get to talk about dinosaurs they get so excited and then it's only a matter of time until they name-drop Etali.
the new samut works best with cards that make new creature tokens/token copies each turn. cards like loyal apprentice, elemental mastery, splinter twin, and kikki-jikki all allow for repeated value
Tazri is way more powerful than a 2. It combos infinitely with like any of 4 of the lorwyn untap creatures and any ability cost reduction (or mana production increase). The combos existed with paradise mantle already, but now you have a combo piece in the command zone that can draw into combo pieces. If you want it really bad, have zirda as your companion and you've got 2/3s of your combo ready and waiting.

Not saying nahri equip decks are op but atleast she does powerful stuff. impulsing everytime an equipped creature attacks and cheating on equipments she impulses which also fuel her affinity. Sigarda just draws you sometimes cards of a specific tribe and protects other permanants but not herself. Its cool but i dont really see how much interesting and powerful things you can do with her besides trying to give her protection or playing a lot of cheap humans. Also for rocco youa re jsut talking about group hug but not about that he is a naya commander who combines casting from exile matters with food tokens. Not interested in group hug myself but naya food exile sounds interesting.
I assume the "truth" Narset saw was that the dragons were defeated in the other timeline, probably sounds like heresy to the dragonlords in this timeline. xD
I agree when it comes to the story. It’s an inconsistent dumpster fire. They really need to focus more on the established characters instead of constantly introducing new ones. Whatever happened to Garruk? What has Sarkhan been up to since Khans? Also, what villains are around these days? We burned through 3 of the biggest multiverse threats in 5 years. I’m fine with focusing on smaller stories for now but the supervillain department is slim pickings right now.
I looove Plargg and Nassari! As characters and the card itself. What’s cooler than the dean of chaos working with the dean of expression. Also, it’s like a fairer more fun version of the new Etali (which is deeply unpleasant to play against). As a vorthos though it pains me the lore doesn’t match the card! I hope they explain their non-completion at some point. I can imagine Plarrg being involved, thus him being on the card. I am making my own head cannon to keep my sanity.
What did Nahiri even do? She built the hedrons that trapped the Eldrazi Titans on Zendikar sacrificing the safety of her plane for the sake of the Multiverse. We’ve only seen her with her spark briefly because Sorin trapped her in the Helvault for 6,000 years where she was tortured by demons the entire time. She is only a villain for this same reason. She deserves a redemption arc.
Wow. I take personal offense with you doing my homie Rocco so dirty (having just printed out a deck). He is very very efficient and cool, it’s not a grouphug deck by any means. The amount of food he can accumulate in a span of just a few turn rotations is insane and the deck is incredibly synergistic. He’s basically a cooler Prosper. And all the “group hug” ability really does is incentivize other players against removing Rocco not realizing (much like you guys) the insane value he can bring to the table. Below Jirina?? @@NitpickingNerds thank you for answering! Of course it’s fine to have different opinions, and in the opinion of many people in this comment section you have severely undervalued the card. For example, if he actually drew the cards for your opponents, your criticism would be absolutely valid, but his ability won’t be an advantage for them every time, it can make them waste countermagic, it can exile one of their wincons prematurely, severely damaging their gameplan or, in the case of some decks, shutting them off entirely, it can make them waste removal they’d otherwise rather hold on to or simply exile something not on curve, wasting them a late-game card. There’s so much synergy for “cast from exile”, so much synergy with +1/+1 counters in these colors, so many cards cards that utilize artifacts ETB, you can make them tap for mana, tap for removal, sac them for additional effects, you can make it so every spell anyone casts comes from exile (Knowledge Pool, Possibility Storm, Uba Mask, etc.) but even without that casting from exile is very prevalent in the format, so on average you’ll easily be making 3-4 artifacts per turn rotation and, given that you’ve built your deck to utilize these artifacts, it’s really great value. Of course you could add Dranith Magistrate but that would literally defeat the entire purpose of the deck as well as annoy people while not helping your gameplan. The deck not only does not need him, but is stronger without him. Some people build him as a combo deck with Shalai and Nadaar and All Will Be One, or with Food Chain and Squee, you could take him in different directions, build him as exile-matters, counters-matters, lifegain matters, artifact matters, or have a few sub themes going on and, surprisingly, still have a pretty effective deck, because of the abundance of overlap in synergies. And what can Jirina do as a commander? Nothing. She’s a pretty good utility creature that you can tell just by looking at was never meant to be even put in the command zone. Of course, opinions differ, but here it seems like you’ve just seriously undervalued and misranked a very good commander because you read him and thought “grouphug” and didn’t think about it any further.

You're assessment is absolutely right, he's actually insanely powerful and I have a +50% winrate on him, which is crazy, considering that everyone at the table has a blast most of the time. You have insane +1-Supporters (I emphazised creatures who get value for being big - Baeloth or Kingpin Krenko for example), aswell as some good uses for all those artifacts. He's actually insane with cards that force opponents to play from exile. You'll get so much value, you'll probably win after 2-3 rounds with cards like Uba Mask.
So, I made a purchase on CoolStuffInc, and put it so it delivered to my work address. They called me the very next day to make sure it wasn't a scam. I appreciate the care they put in to make sure it was my order and not an order someone placed using my card 😊

I would say especially Rocco, putting them below the undeniably obviously weakest commander in the set is just plain wrong One look at Jirina and you can tell she wasn’t even made to be a commander, but an utility creature in the 99 (pretty good at that, but practically useless in the cz)
@@alexandersamoil4548 They're biased against group hug, but I'm disappointed in their complete unwillingness to engage with how group hug manifest. They're just so reductive in regards to anything that might give you opponent a bit of resources, even if it's not that particularly powerful.

I played against nissa the other day and on turn 4 he had 56 creatures that were 56/56s and he drew 50 cards and used just over 100 mana lol
Ive pulled 3 Ob Nixilis so far, but have no urge to build him -.-. Finally pulled a Narset today so I'm pretty pumped

ob nixilis kills everyone with all will be one, it does not matter if you cannot exile the top of your library it triggers anyway
Multiple of the extra combat spells must be cast in a main phase, therefore, do not synergize great with Narset

@@alexandersamoil4548 I have a Rocco. I've been in love with him ever since seeing him. You're assessment is absolutely right, he's actually insanely powerful and I have a +50% winrate on him, which is crazy, considering that everyone at the table has a blast most of the time.
You have insane +1-Supporters (I emphazised creatures who get value for being big - Baeloth or Kingpin Krenko for example), aswell as some good uses for all those artifacts. He's actually insane with cards that force opponents to play from exile. You'll get so much value, you'll probably win after 2-3 rounds with cards like Uba Mask.
Kiora is amazing, combined with Aluandro, the Seer(cascade) makes for cheap quick sea monsters
Put the fangbearer in the 99 of that elf ball deck. Bet you could get at least one guy with an alpha strike that way.
I've done that on Area and got some out of nowhere wins on lifegain decks

I would say especially Rocco, putting them below the undeniably obviously weakest commander in the set is just plain wrong
One look at Jirina and you can tell she wasn’t even made to be a commander, but an utility creature in the 99 (pretty good at that, but practically useless in the cz)
@@alexandersamoil4548 They're biased against group hug, but I'm disappointed in their complete unwillingness to engage with how group hug manifest. They're just so reductive in regards to anything that might give you opponent a bit of resources, even if it's not that particularly powerful.
@@dee-wreck oh yeah, definitely. The deck plays like a Naya Prosper that also engages your opponent instead of playing solitaire and not like a group hug deck.
@@dee-wreck it’s not like you’re drawing them the cards either, now that could probably deserve the criticism they dished out, but with Rocco you can exile one of their wincons prematurely, severely damaging their gameplan, you can make them absolutely waste countermagic, force them to use or lose targeted removal, instead of holding onto it, etc.
