The pricing of the hyundai i20 and kia rio aren’t affordable-anymore. If you’re going to pay 300k for an entry level small hatchback then you might as well consider buying a haval for the same price.
Just bought a 2021 Rio S..in the US. I love it so far! So much more affordable than the Golf..don't need to spend that kinda money for a car that doesn't even look as nice. Spent around $17,000 USD. Golf looks like a little rollerskate and Rio has a much nicer body shape and front-end, imo. And I am glad it doesn't come with all the unnecessary features like lane keep and intuitive cruise control.
Had the the Rio 2014 tech, was brilliantly priced and attracted good interest, one of kias best sellers, my gripe then, was the lack of power and not having a turbo charger, and in 2021 we still talking about this. The 2014 was well price like is said came in cheaper than the polo, but now they have priced themselves out of the market, it's way to expensive and I agree with you, would rather go for the polo. Love ur content as always
We don't because representatives of Kia South Africa have no best interests at heart for what they're entrusted for and lack of market research on what people really want.
It's an alternative, maybe not the best in terms of long term reliability of its eco boost engine, if you're not buying the eco boost then it's a good competitor, to be honest I would have a fiesta over the Rio any day because it is safer
@@rs5200 The Fiesta in SA is not a CVT, it's a 6 speed Auto, but you have a point Ford is not the best on long term reliability, its quite sad actually
I personally have not had any problems with Ford cars they have lasted me a very long time and are super reliable. I’m speaking for personal experience. If you service your car regularly and look after it it will last you a very long time.
@@deanstyles2567 This is the same Kia which sells a cheaper Seltos in India with absolutely trash safety rating of 3 stars at the Global NCAP whereas all other markets get a slightly longer Seltos with a 5 star rating in both Australia and USA! And this 3 star rated Kia Seltos is the same one I guess which is exported to South Africa from India.
I really wish we would take safety specs more seriously in the South African market. Way too many cars out there with the bare minimum of two airbags and no stability control.
My canadian rio from 2015 has stability control, just like my...2009 pontiac vibe...would never buy a car without it! I'm sure that it saved my ass a couple of time!
At 292k this is most certainly not good value for money. You could get a Kia Sonet , just released compact suv for 282k. What am I missing Kia marketing?
Kia hyundai has so many recalls related to engine fires and engine failures in usa, canda, s korea and Australia . Just cannot trust this brand since despite style and features, they offer half baked engineering.

Great review as always. This would be a great buy secondhand. Forking out 300k may be a tall order compared to what's out there
as a new subscriber i am so grateful for this video, been watching a lot of three months old ones and i just felt left behind.
Please do Kia Sonet review and Nissan magnite.the Rio is so expensive 🤦🏽♀️
Actually you are in the i20 cousin the kia rio ....the nice thing For me is that a non turbo car just gives less problems
Do you not get the 3cyl 1.0L Turbo version in SA?
We don't because representatives of Kia South Africa have no best interests at heart for what they're entrusted for and lack of market research on what people really want.
The new Ford Fiesta is the best alternative and the best value for money

Ford Fiestas are junk. Owned all the Ford economy cars. Ford CVT is horrid!

The one sold in the USA is 1.6 liters engine. I wonder why Europe gets a variety and we never do, it's frustrating.
The car looks nice, which one would you recommemd between the rio and the nissan micra?
Rio
R290K and it doesn't even have stability control? Wow.
Is that normal in SA? Seems expensive, at least compared to the Rio here in Australia.
You get ESC on the LX and EX models, not the LS
@@27degrees I'm amazed it's not mandatory. Here ESC has been mandatory since 2011.

Mazda 2 best alternative ever
R295 000 is affordable for an entry level hatch back?🤔For R299 900 I can get a Haval Jolion. Hello!🖐👋
Just got one love it
Please do a review on the Hyundai i20
Isn't the torque 135nm not 175nm as indicated in the review? Perhaps if it had the 1.0 turbo engine the torque would have been 175nm...
Absolutely, Juliet got the torque figure wrong....😂😂😂
Did she do the TSI
175nm or 135nm of torque?
135NM @4200 rpm...your foot must be flat on the floor if you reside in highveld areas like Johannesburg.
Impatiently waiting for you to drive the Magnite 😩
I can't believe it only has 2 airbags.

I would take this over a Polo...
From the reviews I've watched so far, the IVT, is better suited to the Rio's low HP/torque engine.
An.xiously waiting to see you driving a Ford Puma if it does arrive in Mzansi
Only if Kia South Africa would watch such reviews and get rid of these weak engines, Kia would be as competitive as the competition.
Kia's website is useless - they don't even give specifications.
Don't feel too guilty - Kia and Hyundai are the same company. Hyundai is to Korean manufacture what VW & BMW are to Germany !
Kia Ten Rand. You're welcome
It sounds as if this woman can't decide what voice she is supposed to use
You should drive the automatic and you can't compare kia to vw
290k for this
