    Hag training for proper material application? Could you elaborate on what that training is or what the acronym stands for? 1:54

    Nice video 👍 great topic I'm from Milwaukee wi and have had the pleasure to install tpo and epdm. I agree they both have there benefits.

      Muchas gracias Ismael! I am a fan of both of the products as well and it just depends on where you are at or the specific application.

    apples and oranges, EPDM best for the northern parts of the country, better hot cold cycling, no restaurant restriction for EPDM, simply ventilate of interior moisture is high.

    In Florida with hot climate what is the best waterproof system over concrete flat roof terrace?

    If using TPO, is it best to get the THICKEST sheet possible?

    • @DigitalRoofingInnovations
      @DigitalRoofingInnovations  Рік тому

      No, not always. The thicker is also much more expensive. Similar to standing seam metal roofing.

    Thank you for posting this...how would you compare TPO vs EPDM in terms of rainfall noise? Thank you

    • @DigitalRoofingInnovations
      @DigitalRoofingInnovations  3 роки тому

      Jeff, on a flat room with ISO Board installed, rainfall noise shouldn't be too much of a problem at all. What is your concern concerning the noise?

    • @ASmallBlue

      I love hearing the sound of rain. I wonder if you hear rain falling on TPO when installed on top of an exposed beam ceiling (no insulation in the living room).

      @@DigitalRoofingInnovations Hello again and thank you for your reply. I am an acoustician and doing a rainfall noise study. The rainfall noise properties of TPO vs EPDM are not well documented. It is nice to hear your response.

    Can a tpo roofing become Chalky???

    • @RoofingFacts
      @RoofingFacts 3 роки тому

      Yes, but most "chalky tpo" is actually usually a CSPE/Hypalon roof, which is an old roof type discontinued in 2010.
      Some TPO, mostly from 2001-2007, used a formula that would rapidly decay and turn to dust over time. This was because one of the main binders in the formula was unavailable, so new tpo formula were developed. With this in mind, there is no such thing as a tpo roof over 15 years old, because 15 years ago that formula was changed by every major manufacturer again.
      The easiest way is to send videos or photos. It's hard to explain how to tell over text.

    Which would last longer TPO vs EPDM in residential humid environments I've heard EPDM is better durability wise?

    • @DigitalRoofingInnovations
      @DigitalRoofingInnovations  3 роки тому

      Great question. I think the reflectivity of TPO is definitely something that gives it an advantage in dryer, sunny climates. Both are very durable and great options for flat roofs.

    • @zzaa2691

      Both systems will handle exterior moisture ( from rain, snow or humidity) with ease. If you are referring to humid conditions inside the building (like a pool or greenhouse) - this is a matter of installing a proper vapor barrier and insulation. It seems counter intuitive but black EPDM membrane will actually hold up better to intense sunlight and heat than TPO.

    Building code dictates a roof's reflectivity? Learn something new every day. I'm assuming this is to do with energy efficiency.

    • @RoofingFacts
      @RoofingFacts 3 роки тому

      some specific jurisdictions do. And yes the claim is about energy efficiency, and Urban Heat Island Effect reduction.

    Who’s denying you, what authority for code? Can’t the customer choose whatever material they want, regardless of code? Is it the law ?😊

    • @CS-hv8rq
      @CS-hv8rq 5 місяців тому

      Yes the customer can choose.
      But the “newer” federal energy codes require a certain level of heat transfer resistance. Also know as insulation value. R value.
      When installing a flat roof with the buildings primary insulation “on the roof” versus in a attic space, a white roof increases the reflectivity of the sun and heat gain thus you are allowed to install less insulation by thickness.
      White roofs or roofs with white coatings allow a money savings on less insulation.
