    This is super helpful, and explains one of the mysteries (to me) of the Xidas on my NA...I could never get them higher than about 4.75" pinch weld, but I think that's b/c they are on the body mounts. My guess is that the Coax mounts add that last 1/2" that everyone said should be there.

      Our NA/NB BCM has been 4mm shorter than OEM NB mounts with our bushings since around 2015. We recently made a revision to the BCM to make it match our NB mount and bushing stack height exactly. 1/2" is 12.7mm and you have to factor in motion ratio. But Xida Race are just short shocks. If your car is more than about 2500 lbs, you won't get 5" out of them.

    Also, will the spring still bind once the articulation of the bearing is maxed out or do you put a large enough bearing in that it would never reach the max Ed out point?

    • @949RacingSuperMiata

      Our spherical bearing mounts have 10~15× the degree of articulation required. No chance of them binding.

    Good day!
    Having watched this video to better scrutinize available coilovers for our Forester SJ5, I just wanted to ask if a design where the thrust bearings are situated on top of the spring perch would provide similar benefits to having them at the bottom.
    Thank you so much and keep safe!

      The thrust bearings have the same function whether they are at the top of our bottom.

    How does having a coaxial mount affect seal life? Is this different on street vs. track cars?

    • @949RacingSuperMiata
      @949RacingSuperMiata  2 роки тому

      Good observation. The body mount spring's higher radial load on internal bushings and seals does reduce their life. That's inferred in the video but I could have made that more clear. So yes, coaxial mounts make the shock last longer by reducing radial loads on internal parts.
