Love love LOVE the fact that a UA-cam overlander is willing to focus on The Great Taboo Subject: weight, of mods and gear. Almost all the others refuse to even *mention* it. It's as if it's a secret race to see who can get the furthest above GVWR in the name of "look at all the money I spent on all this cool gear I can bring with so I can avoid nature as much as possible." SERIOUSLY: Thank You for paying attention to it and emphasizing the consideration of it. I think Will from Venture 2 Roam and Justin B. McBride have mentioned it in the past (and then moved on for the most part) but I can't think of any others I've seen that have put ANY focus on saving weight and running lighter. Kudos. Simpler is better, and the lighter your rig is, the longer it will last between repairs or breakdowns on the trail. And thanks for a video that focused solely on the adventure of the day without any distractions. Noted and appreciated. 😊
I concur with GVWR. On the way out, I stop at a CAT scale, not that I will turn around and adjust the weight but to know where I am when I start and make changes when I return. Most recently, I was at 6,540 lbs and ~240 lbs over GVWR, losing 60 lbs from the previous trip. While I might not lose it all, little by little, I will improve. There's always something I can go without--backpackers and bikepakers go without a lot less. Thanks for mentioning such an important topic that is overwhelmingly ignored.
Thanks man! I don’t know why it isn’t talked about more. It’s so freakin important, especially up high. I’m always trying to save weight where I can. From an off roading perspective it’s important but like you said, important for the longevity of the vehicle as well
@@OFFTHEGRIND I've commented on a couple other UA-camrs videos about weight, and for the most part they've said "I don't care at all about weight. Not one tiny bit." Looking at you in particular, Ozark Overland Adventures. They just don't care. They care far more about either showing off, or being as comfortable as possible, or both. ESPECIALLY those that try to drag freakin' trailers on significantly difficult off road trails. 🙄
Tahuya is a great place for a shakedown. The new tent's weight is amazing, though I imagine when compared to a top of the line iKamper, there is a tradeoff when it comes to comfort. I look forward to hearing more about it after more uses. Once again, another awesome OTG video
Yeah there’s definitely a trade off. It’s certainly not as comfortable. But I’m going to try some other mattresses and see if I can get it a little more comfortable. I love the tent otherwise
Loved this edit. I need to get out to Tahuya. I’ve only stopped in the parking lot on a big loop drive we were doing one weekend. Glad it runs decent in the winter, too.
Im down in San Diego. My set up is designed for our terrain but i honestly love watching your videos because your camp set ups always have views on views. Theres always water, big green trees and we don’t have lakes and rivers like your state. Thanks for taking us out with you. Videos are 👌🏼
Our main concern for picking our tent was weight. It’s a hard shell that’s 115lbs. The downside; a little less space. It’s fine for the wife and I, but anyone taller, or heavier set… might not be the most comfortable option. Main priority though, was not altering center of gravity, or affecting offroad behavior
Eeew dude, you walk!? Totally joking!! If I wasn’t a cripple I’d hike more too. But yes it’s so true. The overland mindset has gotten screwed towards comfort more than adventure I feel
Man, my wife loves mud and water on the trails, but myself as a former recover specialist in the Army, I loathe it, lol. I can't tell you how many vehicles I've rigged because the water was a "little too deep"! And, yes, I am guilty of it too!! Great episode!
That narrow, rooted trail towards the beginning was intense! 🤯 Bro o is really looking tough 👊👌 Wheels and tires make a huge difference with the looks and performance.
Nice!! That is always smart to test your gear and ensure it makes sense to carry. Seeing this video back A few memorries of going thru tahuya with a Tahoe. Having a wide rig is not for the faint of heart on a lot of the trails in there. Great video!!
Love the fact that you started wheeling with an open top coffee mug, bopd move cotton! Love your style lol, after Tehuya gotta stop in Belfair for a brew at the Bent Bine Brewery!!!!!!! Miss that area so much!
Awesome video as usual! New to the Bronco scene, a ‘24 Badlands stock right now. Previous 3 Jeep owner. I hate to ask because you’re probably tied of the same old question. BUT, I will anyway. Would you mind telling me about your suspension setup also wheels and tires? Wheel offset, etc. I would like to keep tires tucked up under fenders as much as possible. First item will be a winch, then decide on moving forward with lift, etc. Another thing, I don’t want to loose mileage or on road ride comfort. That is why I moved from a jeep to the Bronco. Thanks for entertaining my questions, if you do. Your content is extraordinary and very much appreciated!
Ah Tahuya, that's classic PNW wet forest and not too far from home for me. Really nice work on your edits in this one. So far mostly a wet PNW winter but maybe we'll get some lowland snow you can play in.
I love going out to tahuya and I love when it’s a little muddy too! Always a good time. But yeah hopefully we do get some snow although it’s not looking likely
Another cool video. I really liked that area. My Badlands is coming up on its first birthday end of this month. You were very very helpful with questions I asked on the Patreon page. I’m going to have to renew that. So thanks for your time back then. Bronco is amazing! Are the small lights you have on back of your rack hooked up to the Aux switches? Where do the wires feed from. Thanks again for all your prior help !
Thank you! I’m so glad I could be helpful for you as well. They are actually hooked up to a garmin power switch. My aux switches stopped working so I switched to that and a blaze off-road harness. No wires have to be ran into the cab so it’s super nice and easy install
I grew up not far from there. Great video! I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion on the inspired carbon overall, since I'm hoping to order one in the next couple of months.
You’ve really used the Bronco for what it was built for man! Does it feel like it would be able to go 5 more years off-road in it like that? The Broncos no matter what engine or transmission they do seem to be holding up mechanically after 3+ years! What’s your opinion?
Another great video. Wondering how you like the Trailrack roof rack with the side rax. I’m close to pulling the trigger but have heard some negeative stuff about customer service.
Shotgun mic for most of this. But when the drone is up I put my action cam out on the bronco and sync the audio with the drone. Thanks for saying something! It’s a ton of work lol
It’s not too fun lol. Although I honestly couldn’t feel this one up there. I don’t know, some cheap Amazon one. Would definitely not recommend it. It’s garbage. But the other end of the spectrum is VSSL grinder which is absurd
Great video, randomly found you, I’m not even a bronco owner though I do prefer them over the jeeps and 4Runners. Sub’d. Curious, do you change your differential fluid and transfer case fluid after traversing water that deep? Unless you’ve rerouted the breather up higher your fluid is probably contaminated with water. You might even want to check the transmission depending on the location of the breather.
Hi David, Me and my wife have been watching your videos every night, we personally have Bronco BadSquatch, same as you, and loves to go on adventures but we're here in the east coast (NYC) not much offroading and scenery other than buildings. I have been doing months of research for RTT and was surprised to see you with the inspired overland RTT. Given how light it is, how do you like the comfort of sleeping in it and the storage? Planning to get RTT after winter season. Cheers bud 🍻
Hey, thanks for watching! Always cool when families watch together. I switched simply because of the weight. I really love the more challenging obstacles when I get the chance and the less weight up top the better. The inspired is not as comfortable as the iKamper for sure. I’d much rather sleep in the iKamper, but I would much rather wheel with the inspired. So kinda depends on what your trips look like
Don't do it, is right. You didn't trailer your rig there, you have to drive it home! Ha ha .... I love that play area. I need to find something like that, so Krystal can get some more practice and she would have a blast. ... you need to get your boy out on these type of days (play hookie). I’m at 46k miles right now. I haven’t had any issues with it, but the infotainment system kinda glitches out sometimes. A reset and it’s fine but it’s kinda annoying. Mechanically it all has been great though
Every time I watch you walk around in jeans I’m like how do you do that. Need to find me some comfortable jeans or I’m just going to live in tac pants/joggers forever
Shazaam! That was some epic puddle crossings! And love the coffee work, but can we get some more gourmet food prep next time? Bake some cookies or something. Your video cinematography is second to none. Amazing
Those camera works are legit!
Thanks so much! That fog is kinda a cheat code though lol
So glad you didn’t put any music over this. The bronco sounds awesome.
So many great camera angles on this one and the audio was awesome. So cool hearing all the water as you crossed through it.
Thanks so much man! I had way too much fun filming this lol
Man! Great job on that off camber tree situation! Looked sketch and fun!
Great cinematography. The drone shots were incredible!
Great episode straight to wheeling, no music, and good camera angles. Great work!

I love your style of filming and editing, apart from what you do, you inspired me a lot to make my own UA-cam channel, greetings from Argentina!
Great cinematography and so nice that you didn't put music to the offloading.
Thank you! Glad you liked the raw feel of this video

Nice rig, awesome flex, great camera/drone shots. Nothing extreme. You have a new sub
Extremely impressed you did this without any spotters.

What a relaxing 18 minutes of great content

Maybe. I definitely don’t have enough time with it to do it anytime soon though
Anything over 100lbs up top, you are asking for problems when not on the flat stuff. I switched to a Alu Cab LT50, took out the mattress, 90lbs 👍🏻
I feel like I've seen Driving Sports TV on this trail before.
Shotgun mic on the camera? or do you have a mic mounted on the Bronco somewhere? The driving audio is crispy!
Shotgun mic for most of this. But when the drone is up I put my action cam out on the bronco and sync the audio with the drone. Thanks for saying something! It’s a ton of work lol
Love it!! 😮
are you able to take the second row roof off with that rack? I am looking at switching my OEM one for that one bc of lights and rear window panels
How are the noise levels in your bronco when cruising on the highway at 80mph? Do you think the roof rack and tent add a signigigant amount of noise?
i built f150 with same engine bronco. Everytime i see ur videos, i wanna get bronco and build one lol
Man, I really need to talk to ford about some commission lol. Dude I love the bronco platform. It’s been a lot of fun and very versatile

Is your bronco stock in terms of suspension? Cause that thing is super capable... 😊
