Walking to different markets and seeing all 3 of these being used interchangeably has been driving me crazy for literal years! Thank you for clarifying!!
Thank you! Helpful. Would appreciate a rundown of the flavor profiles of the various varieties when you have time. Also, information on growing conditions, including pollination, time from pollination to fruit maturity, etc.
@@Ganadera77I have tried them both too, but preferred the heavenly flavors that came from the soursop, also its rumored ability to help fight cancer. My mouth waters just thinking of soursop, I need another cherimoya to compare as I have only had two and they were just okay. I liked the hint of mild acid in the soursop. 😋 I just missed sugar apple season, and I want to still try both green, and red.
Thank you very much for this very useful and interesting video. I grew up in the tropics. We have two large Soursop trees with large fruits. Since living in Australia, I don't have access to exotic fruits like these. Then I found a lonely and sad looking Soursop at the corner of a pile of common fruits such as oranges and apples on specials. I thought this Soursop is on special because it is so tiny. I took it home. Then I found this to be nothing like a Soursop ! My curiosity took me to find out that what I have bought is in fact a sugar Apple ! Now I know the differences between Soursop and Sugar Apple. By the way, some websites actually confused a Soursop with a Sugar Apple because of their exterior similarities.
I'm using gemini and on here since I watched a UA-camr present a house plant I remember it's known casually in Australia too the fruit or whatever was fairly like the soursop small segments pulled away though not like skin a bit like the apply one but big the most notable thing is it's dangerous to eat mostly a very narrow ripe phase if not its spiked structure fibres cause severe tongue and throat irritation and to bodily tissues what it is can't find now so far annoyingly
Thank you for the wonderful info on these fruits! I have 1 Guanabana and one Sweet Sop tree. My Guanabana is having a difficult time this year with temp changes and early heat. I love Guanabana and my sweet sop is fruiting for first time this season! So excited!
I got to know Cherimoyas in Peru and I‘m always happy when I find some in a store… they are not very common here in Switzerland. I‘d really like to try the Soursop… but in general: very delicious fruit.
Love Soursop and wanting to try the sugar apple. Thanks for this video, wish I had the ability to go on a trip to try various tropical fruits even just down to Miami. :) Maybe soon for the trip down to Miami. :)
Thankyou for explaining the differences, I am growing Cherimoya here in the UK as indoor plants, I would live to get Sour sop seeds as we don't get that fruit imported here
Oooohhhh all looked lovely ... the only one I have had was soursap made into a delious juice in Jamaica. I bought two custard apples in Leeds, UK - market but as I did not know they were old and went mouldy in three days - So sad.
Used to eat custard apples (sugar apples) all the time back home in Malaysia. I thought the chirimoya was the same (I looked it up on the net) but after seeing how smooth it was, and tasting it, I was really doubtful. This video clarified it! Thanks! I way prefer the custard apple, btw :)
@@gardenflorida There are soursops that are sweet, we do not have to add sugar when we make juice with them. But there are soursops that are very sour, we have to put either sugar or condensed milk when we make juice with them. The preparation of custard apple or soursop is similar, like Yvonne I prefer custard apple. Custard apple juice is great.
Thank you for your very informative video , living in the US urban areas these fruits are hard to find. However I have would love a video on the differences in the taste or flavors of this family of fruits. I have had soursop only in canned juice form. Thanks again!
The sugar apple tastes like a vanilla custard of fruits. It’s different from the soursop in the sense where it’s not tangy at all just creamy sweetness!!
Hi I'm in FL just south of Jupiter by Juno Beach. I still haven't gotten fruit from trees I planted going on 3 yrs ago. Is there something I can do to get them to fruit? I have a Soursop, Cherimoya (one white one red), and zapota...THANKS!
I only know cherimoya since its very common here in Madeira island. Very sweet and delicious. Can someone describe the flavor of soursop? I have no idea. I found the tree in sale here... im not sure if its a good investment or not.
Love soursop. It's not a good name to describe the fruit, which is super sweet, smooth in texture, soft, smells like Juicyfruit gum or fruit punch. Great in smoothies. Or eaten with a spoon! Thanks for the video. All the native tropical fruits have perfumes and intense flavors that we don't experience here in the US. There is no comparison between a commercial golden pineapple from Costa Rica for the US market, and a white pineapple in the Grenadines. The aromas are so spicy and intense! Reason enough to travel, just to try them.
I am glad you enjoyed the video. I agree with you the name soursop is a bland name for the fruit! I love to eat it with smoothies the best! I am traveling back to Colombia in a few months to eat some fruits I can’t wait!
Is this fruit the same as Soursop fruit. It looks like it, it also looks delicious. I think I will order some also pink guava fruits too. We eat a lot of these fruits in Nigeria. Well done Goodhill Farm. From Ngozi---Maryland USA.
Thank you for this other. Growing cherimoya and soursop here in Tampa. Your sugar apple will be a lot bigger if you cut the number of lateral branches, even if the tree is younger. They can get 2-3 times the size in this video. Of course there will be less number of fruit but a lot more "meat" and sweeter. With the number of seeds in sugar apple, the size definitely makes a difference. Happy Harvesting,
Enjoying your videos as I live in South Florida and have both sugar apple and sour sop but neither has had any fruit. What about taste?? How do they compare in taste to each other.
I fell in love with Cherimoya in Peru. It is hard to find in California, even if I do it is $10/lb and not as good. How does soursop taste like comparing to cherimoya? I think some Vietnamese stores sell it.
Soursop is more of a sour tasting fruit but still has notes of sweetness, it is not as chewy and creamy as cherimoya it is more watery and loose like cotton almost but has a unique creamy taste as well but is best if you blend it into a drink but can also be eaten out of hand like a cherimoya as well, both have really good health benefits.
Hello, guys. There's another cousin called "araticum". The taste is very strong. Tastes like a strong pineapple. It's native to Brazil. It looks like a gigantic sugar apple, but it's yellow inside. See the video below: ua-cam.com/video/W9TzN9xMgbQ/v-deo.html
I never tried it too but I was actually thinking about going to the Paw paw festival in Pennsylvania that they have every year. Was that the once you were thinking of ?

Could have done taste comparison too: which is sweeter, more sour, creamier, what are the perfumes, textures, what do they remind you most of?
I've tried chirimoya and guanabana, and chirimoya is sweeter and creamier.
