  • Mixmag & Smirnoff Sound Collective present The Lab LA
    More Ghastly: / ghastly
The Lab is powered by Void Acoustics: www.voidacoustics.com/
The Lab Los Angeles is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective's weekly post-work unwind where we stream only the finest American and international DJs, direct from our Downtown LA office. This Friday we had Ghastly coming light The Lab up with his eclectic bass-heavy selections.
Los Angeles-based artist David Crow better known as Ghastly, has an undeniably interesting backstory that might help to explain his uniquely crafted style of bass-music. From growing up on an Arizona goat farm, to touring with metal bands, to eventually living out of a van on Venice Beach in order to land a career in dance music, David arrived at his place in the scene after a bizarre journey.
Ghastly eventually gained a residency at mega-club Exchange LA and from there released via a handful of dominating labels including OWSLA, Dim Mak and Buygore. His original collaboration with Mija and Lil' John called 'Crank It' hit huge as a track which truly embodies dance music's status in The US right now, and his 2014 throwback track which was released just this year called 'Lil' Trick' proves that he's been ahead of the curve for quite some time.

Hearing him say he woke up with the flu and still DJing in front of loads of people hits different in 2020

Sorry if its obvious and I'm just missing it but why is everyone calling saying David Crow instead of Ghastly? I get that David Crow is his real name but still most of the time people call dj's by their dj name and not their real name so it just seems weird to me that everyones calling him by his real name

Okay this is a high end venue and not a place to go crazy ham and headbang and shuffle and what not. That stuff would probably get you kicked out. These are DJ showcase's not festivals or concert s. They're showcases for the DJ's to get their names out there.
