    Eduardo Samper, M.D.
    First things first. Allow me to congratulate you for your gift of explaining unfamiliar information and making it so understandable.
    Secondly, please allow me to correct a tiny oversight in Part 2 of your series. About the Step 5, PR Interval, min 3:43. The person who made the illustration wrote "less than 0.02 seconds" for its duration, when it should read "less than 0.20 seconds" (5 small squares).
    Normal Intervals
    Normal Intervals
    P-R interval = 0.12 - 0.20 sec (3 - 5 small squares)
    QRS width = 0.08 - 0.12 sec (2 - 3 small squares)
    Q-T interval 0.35 - 0.43 sec.
    Keep it up, we need the nourishment.
    Thanks.

    Great video. I apologize for pointing out a correction (which your previous video had correct) is in this video you said the PRI needs to be less than 0.02 seconds. I know you meant 0.20 because you followed it up with the proper QRS complex interval

    May I ask how did you get 22 small boxes when counting the number of small boxes between two QRS complexes when calculating the heart rate using the 1500 method?

    • @eideticgoone7035
      @eideticgoone7035 Рік тому +1

      Take a look at about 2:10 where she says to count the small boxes between two QRS complexes. The red line is misleading. Just count the number of dots between two descending 'S' waves. You can easily see dots at the corners of each small boxes. That is where 22 comes from.
      1500 is the number of small boxes per minute.
      1500 = 60/0.04
      This is just 60 sec divided by the time per small box.
      1500 boxes per minute divided by 22 boxes /beat
      gives 68 beats per minute.

    This is the problem with modern EKG, they are so brief they miss problems that don't occur in that small time window. Back in the days they hooked you up to the machine for 5 minutes to see what your heart would do over that time span, now everyone is in a hurry; "Bah humbug!"

    2:20 i always struggle with this part- you counted 22 boxes which means that you had 2 extra small boxes from somewhere in addition to the 5 large boxes (5*4=20). i can't figure out where you get the extra 2? do people just eyeball it?

      The red line that shows up is actually longer than the R-R interval. Typically I use the top of the QRS complex to count, but in this case they are using the bottom of the QRS. Either way, you would count from the tip of one to the tip of the next. When you count the boxes there are four big boxes which would account for 20 little boxes and then there are two more smaller boxes. Adding these together gives you 22 small boxes from tip to tip. Or you can always just count all the small boxes. I hope this makes sense and helps you out a little!

    your video graphics don't match up with what you're saying, the PR interval in the last steps shows 0.02 seconds when it should be 0.20 seconds, in your recap section it is also incorrect.
